As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve always known the strong bond between SEGA and Nvidia, so it was no shocker when CEO Jensen Huang unveiled a brief sneak peek of the upcoming Virtua Fighter game during their CES 2025 presentation.
The video appears to be an in-progress, in-engine demonstration, yet it showcases remarkably advanced animations. Even from a limited viewpoint, the movements appear exceptionally fluid and transitions between them seem effortless and seamless.
“This is the new Virtua Fighter project,” Huang deliriously declared. “I just can’t wait!”
Originating from the renowned figure in the industry, Yu Suzuki, Virtua Fighter was the pioneering 3D fighting game that laid the foundation for games such as Tekken and Dead or Alive. However, the series has seen less attention recently, but SEGA is now focusing on reviving it. This rejuvenation process begins with new esports tournaments and an enhancement to the PlayStation 4 game, Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown.
It appears that we might have to wait several years to obtain the latest game, but it seems Ryu ga Gotoku Studio, famous for creating the Like a Dragon series, is working on a unique and exciting project at the moment.
