Joey Graceffa is giving insight into his health journey.

Over two years since noticing a fresh spot on his nose, the YouTuber disclosed that he received a diagnosis of Basal cell carcinoma.

Graceffa announced in a TikTok video posted August 8 that he has skin cancer. However, he wasn’t being flippant when he said “that’s fun!” He followed up by explaining it’s far from enjoyable. In the video, you can clearly see a red spot on his nose. This spot is particularly concerning because he needed a biopsy to confirm that it was indeed skin cancer.

Over the past year and a half to two years, a 33-year-old individual has observed a mark on his nose. Despite consulting multiple dermatologists for their professional opinion, he was initially given a different diagnosis.

He mentioned that they both believed it was a burst blood vessel. However, he returned for another examination since, during his time in Japan, it seemed to be healing over and he found himself wondering, “Why is that happening?” Upon closer inspection, she suggested performing a biopsy on the area.

But that initial procedure was difficult for him to endure.

He explained, “I fainted in the chair when the biopsy took place, not due to pain or anything similar, but because I get easily queasy around things that are gruesome or bloody. To put it another way, my imagination is quite vivid, so I started imagining what it might have looked like and that’s why I fainted. When I came to, they had a Capri Sun and gummy bears waiting for me.”

A few days had passed before he got diagnosed with Basal cell carcinoma, which is the most prevalent type of skin cancer, as per the American Cancer Society. At present, he’s considering various treatment methods for his condition.

He mentioned a procedure known as Mohs surgery, which essentially involves removing a part from his nose.

He seemed hesitant about that choice due to his concern: “If a mere 40 seconds of the biopsy left me unconscious, how can I endure 45 minutes?” he pondered. ” frankly, I have no idea. That’s why I’m considering alternative options at present.”

Graceffa mentioned that he has been exploring some natural remedies, but he’s leaning towards radiation therapy. For now, he’s maintaining a positive attitude as he moves forward with this new phase in his healthcare journey.

He said he was staying calm and reasonable given that the skin cancer on his nose is more manageable. In other words, he remains optimistic about his life despite having skin cancer on his nose.
