As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Yu-Gi-Oh! dueling under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection. This collection is like a stroll down memory lane, reminding me of the countless hours I spent battling it out on my trusty Game Boy Advance. The leak has only fueled my anticipation as it seems we’re getting more games than initially anticipated!
The next big Yu-Gi-Oh! release is a collection of retro games called the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, and it’s just a few months away now with the whole set scheduled to release on February 27th. We already knew that would be the date, and we knew of some of the games that would be included in the Early Days Collection, but the rest were presumably going to be drip-fed to Yu-Gi-Oh! fans before the full release. That was the case until the full list of Yu-Gi-Oh! games in the Early Days Collection leaked, however, a leak which seems to have come from someone who’s gotten their hands on a retail box for the game a few months early.
The individual who presented their findings on the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, it should be noted, doesn’t own a physical game to play. For those curious about language support, online functionality, and modern updates such as additional features being incorporated into these Yu-Gi-Oh! games from the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance period, there are currently no further details available at this time. However, for those eagerly awaiting to know which games will be playable by February 27th, it appears we now have a possible answer.
Based on tweets by user kukithk1, it appears that the comprehensive launch of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection will include a variety of games such as: Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Yu-Gi-Oh! Although Konami hasn’t definitively confirmed all the games included in the Early Days Collection, it’s possible that things could shift before February. However, based on current information, players can anticipate a list of 14 unique games within this collection. Earlier reports mentioned eight titles from the set, but it appears the complete lineup will surpass expectations with more than ten games. The Japanese announcement regarding the Yu-Gi-Oh! series suggested over 10 games, yet the Early Days Collection is rumored to offer even more.
It’s important to mention that, similar to observations made by other players, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection focuses solely on handheld games and excludes console versions. Considering Konami’s history of releasing multiple collections, such as the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, it’s possible they might release a second version of the Early Days Collection in the future to include some of the console games like Yu-Gi-Oh! The Falsebound Kingdom. However, we need to wait and see how well this initial retro collection performs before getting too excited about potential additions.
Besides gathering all these Yu-Gi-Oh! games together, the Early Days Collection will also include functions like rewinding and fast-forwarding through story segments, similar to what many classic games have incorporated in their updated versions. Additionally, it will offer online combat options for certain games, and in keeping with Yu-Gi-Oh tradition, will come with promotional cards included within the package for players to collect.
