Yvette Nicole Brown Confirms She's Returning For the Community Movie

As a die-hard Community fan who’s been following this show since its inception, I can’t help but feel like I’ve just stumbled upon a Greendale study group reunion! The news about Yvette Nicole Brown confirming her involvement in the long-awaited Community movie has sent my excitement levels soaring.

Back in January, ol’ Joel McHale dropped a bomb about the upcoming Community movie that was supposed to start rolling cameras last summer. But then, those Writers Guild and Screen Actors Guild strikes hit us like a punch in the gut, pushing back the production timeline. We’ve been hanging on for news ever since, and the latest scoop came from McHale last month – he said it’s looking “kinda” like 2025. He also put an end to rumors suggesting further delays were due to Donald Glover.

Brown indicated to Parade that we are unsure of the timing, but he’s ready and willing. This could be newsworthy since it’s been unconfirmed for quite some time.

During its fifth season, Glover departed from “Community” permanently, whereas Brown didn’t come back as a main cast member for Season Six. However, he made appearances in both the season opener and closer.

In a recent interview with Variety, Harmon expressed his concern over fans blaming Donald Glover for the delayed release of the movie, saying “I felt like rushing to Instagram to tell everyone, ‘Please stop bothering Donald! Don’t scare him away!’ He wants to make the movie, but enough already! It’s not his fault; no individual can be responsible for delays. The issue is that our process moves so slowly and can get easily derailed and stalled. Fans have a much higher level of impatience compared to the system that eventually brings them their movie.”

McHale spoke to The Wrap back in October of 2022 about getting the cast back together again.

McHale shared the news: Peacock is financing it, he said thankfully. So, yes, it’s moving forward and everyone’s involved again. McHale admitted he might look older. In fact, he wasn’t joking, so you know he’s being serious about almost everything, except for when he swears. But, there will be tears. He recalled a table read they had during the pandemic that left him in tears like a baby afterward, and he wasn’t kidding. McHale explained, “People often think my comments are jokes, but it feels like a family reunion without the annoying relatives.” In other words, just like a real family, there’s always that one relative you dread seeing.

Stay tuned for updates about the Community movie.
