As a long-time gamer and anime enthusiast, I must admit that Zelina Vega’s latest cosplay of Kakashi Hatake from Naruto has left me utterly amazed! Growing up, I was a die-hard fan of this series, so seeing one of my favorite characters brought to life by such an accomplished WWE Superstar is truly a sight to behold.
Throughout October, WWE Superstar Zelina Vega is partnering with ComicBook for a unique series, revealing sneak peeks of her cosplay costumes as Halloween approaches. For those who don’t know, Zelina is a big enthusiast of anything nerd-related – from video games to anime and manga. She creatively integrates these favorites into her wrestling attire. This has sparked fellow wrestlers within and beyond WWE to express their fandoms too. Recently, she’s unveiled stunning cosplays based on characters from Sailor Moon and Tokyo Ghoul.
This week’s costume is inspired by the character Kakashi Hatake from the Naruto Manga. For those who may not be familiar with this widely recognized anime, it revolves around a group of trainees learning ninja skills in the Concealed Village of the Leaf. The story mainly focuses on Naruto, but Zelina’s costume is based on Kakashi Hatake, the mentor of Team 7 which includes Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura as its members.
As I share with ComicBook, there’s an extraordinary character who holds a unique spot in my heart – the Copy Ninja, or the One Thousand Years of Death master. You see, Kakashi was not just any anime character; he was my mom’s admiration and eventually, mine too. From his enigmatic persona to his distinctive style, that silver hair, and the witty one-liners that made us laugh, Kakashi will forever remain a cherished favorite of mine.
Once more, Zelina’s cosplays showcase her exceptional attention to detail. Her hairstyle, expertly styled by Kendra Simmons, features silver locks, complemented by the iconic Kakashi headband perched on her forehead. This arrangement reveals her left eye, which carries significant weight for her character. The scar running through this eye is a testament to a fierce battle where she sacrificed her original eye to protect Obito, resulting in the replacement of that eye with the glowing red Sharingan. It’s important to note that anyone who encountered Zelina while she was wielding this powerful artifact would have been, quite literally, folded in half, much like a lawn chair.
You’ll observe Zelina posing with Kakashi’s preferred weapon, his arrows, since he primarily employs a bow. Interestingly, she’s also found reading a copy of Jiraiya’s Icha Icha series, a romance novel that even someone as emotionally complex as Kakashi cherishes deeply.
I found myself unable to hide my admiration for the way people responded upon learning his identity, seeing his visage or anticipating a confrontation with him. ‘It’s you… the Sharingan-wielding ninja… Kakashi Hatake,’ she went on. Kakashi Hatake, not an Uchiha, carried such influence due to his fearsome reputation. Just hearing his name would instill fear in people. Somehow, I found myself deeply respecting his mental fortitude… despite the heart-wrenching tragedies that marked his past and the emotional and physical scars he bore. His ability to keep a cool demeanor was remarkable. Kakashi Sensei? Indeed, he’s one of the original Ninja Legends.
Who is Kakashi Hatake from Naruto?
Kakashi Hatake is renowned within the world of shinobis (ninja), earning legendary status in the series Naruto. Known for his immense talent, he has been a trusted source of wisdom and guidance among Konohagakure’s ninjas. His expertise played a crucial role in nurturing their abilities and preparing them for their respective paths. After the Fourth Shinobi War, he was appointed as Hokage, a position he had long been favored to hold. Eventually, Kakashi stepped down from the role, passing it on to Naruto.
