Zendaya Almost Starred in a Surprising Disney Franchise Instead of Spider-Man

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but marvel at the enchanting journey of Zendaya, a star who shines brighter than any superhero or intergalactic queen. Her story is a testament to resilience and determination, as she almost graced our screens as a Disney Channel princess in the highly popular “Descendants” series. Alas, fate had other plans, propelling her towards the webs of Spider-Man and the sands of Dune instead.

Zendaya may be the star of two major franchises, playing M.J. in the Spider-Man trilogy and Chani in the Dune films, but there is another fan-favorite film series that she was almost a part of, possibly instead of Spider-Man. According to former Disney Channel executive Cornelia Frame, Zendaya auditioned “many times” for an undisclosed role in Descendants. Zendaya had previously been a star in Disney Channel series Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover as well as had starred in two Disney Channel movies, Frenemies and Zapped.

Zendaya auditioned for the role in “Descendants” numerous times, which was quite significant, as shared by Frame on the Magical Rewind podcast (as reported by Variety). In other words, it was a considerable opportunity that she auditioned for multiple times. She truly desired the part, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out in her favor.

As a devoted admirer, I can confirm that Frame asserted Zendaya dedicated an incredible amount of time, energy, and dedication to her audition process. However, it seemed her efforts didn’t lead to the desired outcome initially. Interestingly enough, he also pondered if these events unfolded as they did for a specific purpose.

Reflecting on the situation now, I find myself wondering if perhaps Spider-Man would have made his debut around the same time. It seems that events unfold as they should, and sometimes we stumble upon extraordinary things when we miss out on other opportunities. This is what Frame suggested.

Although Zendaya didn’t land a role in the original “Descendants” movies, they turned out to be incredibly successful. Starring Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Booboo Stewart, and Cameron Boyce alongside others, the first film came out in 2015, followed by sequels in 2017 and 2019. The “Descendants” franchise expanded to include three TV series (“Descendants: School of Secrets,” “Descendants: Wicked World,” and the animated short prequel “The Planning of the Royal Wedding”), three short films, two television specials, numerous books, and another sequel film, “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” which premiered earlier this year.

Zendaya Will Return for Euphoria Season 3

Beyond her roles in big-screen blockbusters, Zendaya is also a prominent cast member on HBO’s show “Euphoria”. It has been announced that the series will resume filming in January, and it’s likely that the main actors, including Zendaya, will rejoin for the new season.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped up to my core that we’re set to start crafting the next chapter of Euphoria in January! That’s right, straight from the lips of Francesca Orsi, EVP of HBO programming and mastermind behind their drama series and films, as she shared with Deadline. The synergy between us and Sam, our creative powerhouse, combined with this phenomenal cast has us buzzing with excitement. We can’t wait to breathe life into the fresh season of Euphoria for all the fans out there!
