As a die-hard Euphoria fan who has lived through the tumultuous lives of Rue, Maddy, Cassie, Lexi, and the rest of the gang since their high school days, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and apprehension as we gear up for season 3. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least, and I must admit that I’ve grown attached to these characters in a way that only a fellow time-traveler through their lives could understand.
It seems like ages since we last watched Euphoria, leaving viewers eagerly anticipating the resolution of Rue’s (Zendaya) storyline involving her suitcase, as well as the evolving friendship between Maddy (Alexa Demie) and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), and the conclusion of Lexi’s (Maude Apatow) play.
The third season of the teen drama series has had quite an intricate journey so far, and although HBO has assured us it’s coming back, featuring a time leap and most of the initial actors, there are still several mysteries that remain unsolved – up until this point, these questions have finally started to be addressed.
During an interview on Entertainment Weekly’s The Awards podcast, Zendaya stated that the decision to introduce a time jump in the series was appropriate since “there’s a limit to how much high school melodrama one can handle”. She also added humorously, “And then she’s caught cheating on her boyfriend again!
Although the actress was secretive about the specifics of the third season, there’s definitely a sense of anticipation building up.
She admitted she wasn’t well-versed in the current events, and while she couldn’t predict the specifics of what the upcoming season would entail, she was certain that a leap forward in time was imminent.
She commented: “It’s intriguing to explore these characters beyond their high school years and observe how their childhood experiences, which we witnessed during their time in high school, shape their adulthood and transform them within the larger world. I’m eager to find out what lies ahead for them as well.
As a fervent fan, I’m not alone in my confusion about the plot twists. Just like Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, the talented actress who brings Jules Vaughn to life, is equally perplexed about the unfolding events as well!
On the Call Her Daddy podcast in August, she shared with host Alex Cooper that she’s quite uncertain about season 3, admitting “I have absolutely no clue what’s happening” and hinted at a series of significant events by saying, “If you ask any member of our cast, they would tell you the same thing – a lot has transpired.
