After departing from BBC Radio 2’s daily morning program last year, Zoe Ball is returning to the station with a brand-new weekly broadcast starting now.
Since January 2019, when she took over from Chris Evans, this broadcaster has been at the helm of the show. Over time, she won over many listeners with her performances during challenging times such as the COVID-19 pandemic, cementing her position as a beloved figure among them.
Following her last broadcast close to Christmas, Ball hinted at returning to Radio 2 for fresh experiences in 2025, and we now understand precisely what she meant by that statement.
In May, Ball is set to debut a fresh BBC Radio 2 program. This show will air from 1pm to 3pm every Saturday. During the broadcast, you can expect Ball playing some of her preferred tunes and sharing plenty of amusing moments as she catches up with listeners.
As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I can’t hide my excitement about sharing some fantastic news! Helen Thomas, the esteemed head of Radio 2, has announced that one of the UK’s most cherished presenters, Zoe, will now be gracing our airwaves on Saturday afternoons. Moreover, she’ll be hosting several special events for us throughout the year, making this a truly momentous occasion!
Initially announcing her weekday morning departure, Ball expressed her eagerness to embark on her upcoming phase, which involves being a mother during mornings and listening to Radio 2 while commuting for school drop-off.
She expressed: “I hold a very special place in my heart for all of you, audience members… who have been part of some of the ups and downs, the best and the worst, as well as the amusing moments, in my life.

Apart from launching her fresh weekend show, Ball is also scheduled to present two unique broadcasts for BBC Radio 2: Elaine Paige: 60 Years in Showbusiness and the coverage for Bradford’s Big Brass Blowout, a music festival spanning over the weekend that will take place in the UK’s City of Culture for 2025.
In Ball’s chat with Paige, the iconic artist shares captivating anecdotes about the creation of several of her well-known tunes and unveils intriguing tales from the glamorous world of London’s West End theatre.
The performance is scheduled to take place at the London Palladium Theatre on April 25th, 2025. It will star the BBC Concert Orchestra alongside stage performers Samantha Barks, Mazz Murray, Julian Ovenden, Charlie Stemp, and Summer Strallen.
Live tickets are available from LW Theatres.
