The anime series “Zombie Land Saga,” known for its idol genre, first aired its inaugural season in 2018. Its second season, titled “Revenge,” wrapped up in June 2021, but the franchise has been relatively silent since then. In 2021, following the live-action production of “Zombie Land Saga LIVE ~Franchouchou Saga yo Tomoni Waite Kure~,” MAPPA, the animation studio responsible for the series, announced a movie sequel to the anime. Yet, there has been no news or updates regarding this film for nearly four years. Recently, fans were pleasantly surprised when MAPPA unveiled a new teaser trailer indicating that “Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise” is slated for release in 2025.
Regrettably, the recent sneak peek fails to unveil any fresh scenes or footage related to the upcoming Zombie Land film. Instead, it presents a compilation of past scenes from the initial two seasons of the anime, with a focus on the lead character, Sakura Minamoto, being struck by a van. The trailer sets the plot in motion. Interestingly, the teaser concludes with a brand-new poster for the Zombie Land movie and a release date slated for 2025. Labeled as the Kick Off preview, it hints at more updates on the franchise in the future. With ten months remaining in the year, MAPPA still has ample time to divulge additional information about the motion picture.
Zombie Land Saga is Back from the Dead!
Following a significant break, admirers began to express worry about the future of the Zombie Land Saga series. This anime features a band of undead idol girls who are zombies, striving to rejuvenate the Saga Prefecture while maintaining their identities as the undead a secret. The show gained popularity among viewers due to its outlandish plotline and the engaging musical numbers by the voice actors. The finale of Zombie Land Revenge left fans intrigued with the hint that aliens might be involved, taking the franchise into even more bizarre realms. Despite numerous storylines yet to be developed with the characters, viewers remain hopeful that the series will continue.
Besides the two anime seasons and “Zombie Land Saga LIVE ~Franchouchou Saga yo Tomoni Waite Kure~”, the franchise had a brief manga version that concluded in 2021, followed by a spin-off manga titled “Zombie Land Saga Gaiden: The First Zombie”. No significant release has been made since 2022, leading fans to believe that MAPPA’s ongoing busy workload could be the cause of the delayed follow-up movie. Although uncertain if “Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise” will mark the end of the anime series, at least there are exciting prospects for 2025.
