Okay, so like, almost a quarter of a million Americans. A quarter of a MILLION! 🤯 They’re getting letters now saying their information… might have been… you know… taken. By hackers. Of course. Because nothing is secure, alright? Nothing!
This firm, SAX LLP – a real snappy name, I gotta say – apparently had some…unauthorized access. Unauthorized! Like they invited them in? What is this, an open door policy for cybercriminals? They’re an accounting firm, for crying out loud. You’d think they’d be good with numbers, with security, with… something!
And what did they steal? Oh, just names, Social Security numbers, birthdays… the usual. Everything you need to completely ruin someone’s life. It’s not like they just took their shoe size. Dates of birth! Really? Who even needs that information?
And they’re saying there’s an “elevated risk of identity theft.” Elevated?! It’s practically guaranteed at this point! Like I need another thing to worry about. I’m already anxious enough about properly disposing of plastic wrap. You just can’t be too careful!
They found out about this because of “unusual activity.” Unusual! What, someone actually logged in? What a shock. It’s like finding out water is wet. They had to hire specialists to figure out how this happened. Specialists! I could’ve told them. It’s always a password someone used from 1998.
And now they’ve “secured their systems.” Oh, good. That’s reassuring. Though they’re not saying how they secured them. Because that would be giving away their precious… I don’t know… secrets? It’s probably just a stronger password. Like “Password123!” 🤦♂️
Now we’re all supposed to “remain vigilant.” Vigilant?! Like I have the time! I’m busy trying to figure out what to have for lunch. It’s a whole process. I need to check my accounts, check my credit reports… Just another thing on the list. A very, very long list. 🙄
