It looks like Grand Theft Auto 6 isn’t the only game facing a delay. IO Interactive has announced that 007 First Light will now be released on May 27th, 2026 – a couple of months later than originally planned.
IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak announced on Bluesky that the game is now completely playable. The extra development time will be used to improve and polish the game, ensuring it’s the best it can be when it releases. Abrak described the project as the company’s most ambitious yet, larger in scope than the Hitman series, and believes this extra time will help deliver a high-quality experience for players from the start.
We’ll have more news about the game’s title early next year, so keep an eye out for that. Also, with several other major releases like Crimson Desert, Replaced, and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection coming out in the same month, it might be better to move our launch to a less crowded time. That is, unless other large games are announced for the same period.
The new James Bond game, 007 First Light, is set to release on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. A recent trailer revealed Lenny Kravitz will be playing one of the villains, Bawma.
An important update regarding the release date of 007 First Light.
