007: First Light Gets New Trailer Introducing Dr. Selina Tan Played by Gemma Chan

IO Interactive, the studio behind the new James Bond game *007: First Light*, recently revealed that Gemma Chan will play the character Dr. Selina Tan. Chan is known for her roles in popular films like *Marvel’s Eternals* and *Crazy Rich Asians*. This won’t be her first video game role, however, as she previously portrayed Erys in Diablo 4 Season 2.

Dr. Tan, played by Chan, is a psychologist and game theory expert who will be a key character in the story of *007: First Light*. The trailer reveals she’s crucial to Bond earning his 00 status, and the studio confirms she’s the head of Tactical Simulation at MI6.

So, I heard that actress Chan has done voice work for games before, but this is a first – they’re actually *using* her face in a game! She’s playing a totally new character in the upcoming Bond game, *007: First Light*. Apparently, IO Interactive created her specifically for this game, she’s not a character from any of the books or movies!

As a gamer, I’m really excited to hear they’re bringing in experienced actors like Gemma Chan. IO Interactive said this is to make sure the characters feel real and have emotional depth, matching the scale of the game. They’re aiming for a visually stunning experience, but also want the story to be genuinely engaging and fun to play – a truly compelling Bond adventure!

Chan will star alongside M. Alastair Mackenzie as Q and Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny. Lennie James will play John Greenway, James Bond’s mentor, and Noémie Nakai will portray Miss Roth.

The trailer for *007: First Light* not only revealed Chan’s role as Dr. Tan, but also showcased the game’s over-the-top action, including intense gun battles, nightclub brawls, thrilling car chases, and a spectacular sequence involving a plane.

The new game promises exciting action, and IO Interactive is dedicated to making gunfights feel satisfying – a significant improvement over the previous Hitman games. Beyond combat, the studio is also focusing on gadgets, ensuring they’re useful tools rather than just temporary novelties, as explained by gameplay director Andreas Krogh in a recent interview.

Krogh explained that the team aimed to create gadgets that were useful, realistic, and enjoyable to use repeatedly, hoping they’d appeal to a wide range of players. They also wanted each gadget to be unique in both appearance and function, giving each a specific role. Ultimately, the goal was to provide players with a diverse toolkit to match how they like to play.

007: First Light is coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 on March 27, 2026.
