The new game, *007 First Light*, is clearly aiming to capture the feel of a James Bond movie. James Bond is a legendary spy who’s been a part of our culture for over 60 years through films, books, and games. While Amazon is working on a new Bond movie with director Denis Villeneuve (known for *Blade Runner 2049* and *Dune*), gamers will soon get a completely new Bond experience – the first in over ten years.
The upcoming game, *007 First Light*, will be a standalone experience, not tied to any existing Bond films. Unlike previous games which featured the actor from the latest movie, there isn’t a current Bond film to base the game on. This gives the developers, IO Interactive, the creative freedom to craft their own unique Bond story, exploring his origins and how he earned the 007 designation. It’s a fresh approach to the character, and Patrick Gibson, known for his role in *Dexter: Original Sin*, will be portraying James Bond.
007 First Light‘s Theme Song Will Seemingly Be Written and Performed by Lana Del Rey
Okay, so it looks like IO Interactive and Amazon are *really* going all out with this new game, trying to make it feel like a proper Bond movie – you know, big budget and everything. And it sounds like they’re not skipping the iconic theme song! Every Bond film has this amazing song by huge artists during the opening credits, and it’s a big part of the experience. We’re talking Adele, Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, Billie Eilish… they always get someone awesome to do it, and I’m hoping this game will be no different.
A Reddit user noticed that Lana Del Rey (Elizabeth Grant) has registered a new song called “First Light” with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. This has led to speculation that she might be working on a song for the upcoming James Bond film, *007 First Light*, as the titles are the same. While it could be a coincidence, Del Rey has previously been connected to the Bond franchise, making the possibility more likely.

Lana Del Rey recorded a song called “24” that was considered for the theme to the James Bond film *Spectre*. Although she released it on her 2015 album *Honeymoon*, and it captured the dramatic, film-like atmosphere of a Bond theme from the Daniel Craig years, the filmmakers ultimately chose Sam Smith’s “Writing on the Wall” for the movie.
Lana Del Rey revealed in 2024 that she did write the song “24” for the movie *Spectre*, and she’s been hoping to contribute to another James Bond film. It appears IO Interactive listened to her wishes and gave her the chance with *007 First Light*. While it’s possible “First Light” could be another Bond song that wasn’t chosen, that seems unlikely given the circumstances.
