Wolverine is a hugely popular Marvel character, so finding the right actor to play him in future films and TV shows is incredibly important. For over 26 years, Hugh Jackman has been the only actor to portray the healing X-Men hero, making him a fan favorite. Because Jackman’s performance is so iconic, many fans are worried about who could possibly take on the role next. However, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe now introducing mutants, it looks like a new Wolverine will be cast soon.
Finding the right actor to play Wolverine will be challenging, but a few stand out as potentially capable of capturing the character’s strength and complexity. Logan is a demanding role, and winning over fans won’t be easy. Nevertheless, these actors seem like strong contenders if given the opportunity.
10) Jack Reynor

Jack Reynor, best known for his work in the horror film Midsommar, is a surprising but interesting choice for the next Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s proven his versatility with roles in a variety of genres, including the intense horror of Midsommar, the charming musical Sing Street, and big-budget action movies like Transformers: Age of Extinction. He’s also appeared in the science fiction series The Peripheral.
While he might not be the first actor people would think of for Wolverine, this Irish actor could actually be a brilliant choice. He’s less outwardly imposing than many superhero leads, which could be exactly what the character of Logan needs. Plus, he’s proven he can handle challenging roles, making him a potentially perfect fit for the part.
9) Michiel Huisman

Michiel Huisman is a Dutch actor who has become popular with audiences worldwide thanks to his work in film and television. He first gained international recognition when he took over the role of Daario Naharis on Game of Thrones. Since then, he’s starred in the critically acclaimed series The Haunting of Hill House and the film Rebel Moon, collaborating with well-known directors Mike Flanagan and Zack Snyder on those projects.
Michiel Huisman possesses many of the characteristics needed for a compelling Wolverine, but his performance in Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon really showcases why he could succeed in the MCU. He stood out in a significant role within a large cast, despite the film’s extensive visual effects and action sequences, proving he can command attention. Though he might not be an obvious choice, Huisman could be an ideal Logan for a potential MCU reboot.
8) Charlie Hunnam

Charlie Hunnam is a popular choice among fans for the role of Wolverine. He’s best known for playing Jax Teller in Sons of Anarchy, but he’s also appeared in action films like The Gentlemen and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Hunnam is recognized for his strong appearance and his ability to portray tough characters with real emotion.
It seems like Charlie Hunnam would be a natural choice for the role. The main concerns are his age – he’s in his mid-40s – and his distinctive accent, which can be noticeable. Despite these potential challenges, he still has a lot of qualities that could make him a fantastic Wolverine.
7) Josh Segarra

Fans often suggest Josh Segarra as a possible replacement for Hugh Jackman’s famous role. While he’s known for his TV work on shows like The Electric Company, Arrow, and Sirens, he’s also been in a variety of different kinds of projects. He’s even appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing a smaller role in the somewhat controversial show, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
Oscar Isaac is frequently mentioned by fans as a strong candidate to play Wolverine. He has the right look – tough and weathered – and he’s already proven himself in superhero movies. He’s physically imposing, but not so famous that he wouldn’t be able to make the part his own. Although he’s appeared in a Marvel project before, the Multiverse offers a way to bring him back as the next Wolverine.
6) Dafne Keen

Even though Dafne Keen hasn’t been in as many films and TV shows as some other actors, she’s a strong contender to become the next Wolverine, following Hugh Jackman. Many viewers recognize her from roles in His Dark Materials or The Acolyte, but she’s widely known as X-23 from Logan and Deadpool & Wolverine. Because she’s already played Logan’s daughter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it makes sense that she could be the next Wolverine.
It’s still uncertain if this will happen, but it would be a different approach than the previously announced X-Men reboot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Interestingly, there’s a history in the comics of Laura Kinney taking on her father’s role. Plus, Dafne Keen, who plays Laura, has expressed interest in becoming the next Wolverine and hasn’t dismissed the possibility.
5) Dacre Montgomery

Dacre Montgomery is most famous for playing Billy Hargrove in the Netflix series Stranger Things for two seasons. Beyond giving a standout performance as the complex and often aggressive Billy, Montgomery also starred in the 2017 Power Rangers movie. These roles suggest he has the potential to take on the part of Wolverine after Hugh Jackman.
Montgomery has proven he can play complicated, compelling characters who struggle with anger – a key trait of Wolverine. He’s also shorter than many other actors considered for the part, making him a more accurate fit for the comic book version. Plus, being Australian, like Hugh Jackman, adds another layer that makes him a strong candidate to take on the role.
4) Taron Egerton

Taron Egerton is a popular choice among fans to play Wolverine. Known for starring in the Kingsman films and receiving praise for roles in Rocketman and the series Black Bird, many believe he’d be an excellent fit for the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While Taron Egerton’s height is sometimes mentioned, his real strength lies in his ability to bring charm and charisma to leading roles, even in action films. He’s also the right age – in his thirties – to potentially play a character for many years. However, Egerton has expressed hesitation about taking on the iconic role of Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially following Hugh Jackman’s popular portrayal.
3) Scott Eastwood

Scott Eastwood is often linked to his famous father, Clint, as he’s appeared in several of his films. But Scott is steadily forging his own successful acting career, and many believe he’d be an excellent choice to play Wolverine. He already has experience with large franchises, which makes him a strong contender. Scott strikes a great balance – he’s not a household name yet, but he’s gaining enough recognition to generate excitement around a potential casting.
Scott Eastwood would be a fantastic Wolverine, largely because of his appearance. He has the strong, sculpted features and prominent jawline that closely resemble the character. He also brings a subtle intensity to his performances, which would suit Wolverine well. Combined with his experience in big action movies, Eastwood seems like a very natural choice to take over the role from Hugh Jackman.
2) Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe became famous playing Harry Potter, but he’s proven himself as a versatile actor since then. This has made him a fan favorite to play Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he’s often at the top of fans’ lists when they imagine who should take on the role.
Daniel Radcliffe not only looks the part – his height is just right for the comic book character – but he’s also shown he can physically transform for roles, even playing a character with weaponized hands. He often sports a beard, which has fueled fan excitement about him playing the famously tough X-Men character. It’s hard to imagine anyone fitting the role better, and fans would likely love to see him cast.
1) Jack O’Connell

As a film fan, I’ve been seriously impressed with Jack O’Connell lately. While most of the cast of Sinners seem to have been in some superhero project or another, he’s the exception, and honestly, I think he’d be incredible as Wolverine. His work in Sinners and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple has really put him on the map, and it feels like bigger roles are definitely coming his way. I really hope he gets a shot at taking over from Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the MCU – it would be a fantastic fit!
Jack O’Connell would be a fantastic choice to play Logan, thanks to his height and expressive physicality. He’s a proven actor who can balance charisma with a hint of danger, and has become a popular star globally. Considering both his physical presence and acting skills, he’s the strongest candidate to take over the role of Wolverine from Hugh Jackman, if he were to accept it.
