Guts from Berserk is famous for being an incredibly skilled fighter, and Griffith is widely considered one of anime’s most dangerous villains. However, even with both of their strengths combined, they wouldn’t stand a chance against some of the most powerful sword-wielders in anime. In fact, many anime characters are so strong that it almost seems unfair when they pick up a sword.
Before becoming the demon Femto, Griffith was an incredibly skilled fighter, even defeating Guts in the past. Although Guts eventually surpassed Griffith’s abilities, there are other swordsmen in anime who are even more powerful than Guts.
Yhwach Can Simply Enter a Future Where He Wins
Yhwach, the main villain in Bleach, is considered one of the strongest fighters in anime history. He’s the original Quincy, a race powerful enough to challenge the best warriors in the Soul Society. Unlike most Quincy who fight from a distance with bows, Yhwach prefers close combat, wielding a sword made of his own spiritual power. Though smaller than Guts’ famous Dragon Slayer, Yhwach’s sword is incredibly dangerous in battle.
Honestly, what really puts Yhwach on a completely different level than someone like Guts or Griffith is his ability to see all possible futures at once. It’s insane! He doesn’t just fight – he shifts himself into the future where he already wins. Sure, Guts is a physical powerhouse and Griffith has incredible magical abilities, but honestly, neither of them could beat someone who can essentially guarantee their own victory by choosing the right timeline.
Saber Wields The Most Legendary Sword of All Time
Arturia Pendragon, also known as Saber in the Fate series, is considered the most skilled sword fighter in human history. She uses Excalibur. While Guts’s Dragon Slayer is a very powerful magical sword, it doesn’t compare to the incredibly advanced craftsmanship of Excalibur.
I’ve always been struck by just how powerful Saber is. It’s not just her strength and magic, but how they combine with Excalibur to create a truly devastating force – capable of planet-level destruction, honestly. She has this incredible ability called “Instinct” that lets her react and choose the best move in a fight faster than anyone I’ve ever seen, even someone like Guts or Griffith. And then there’s Avalon, her scabbard. It can whisk her away to this otherworldly, magical realm where she’s completely safe – it’s like an impenetrable shield against anything thrown at her.
Sailor Saturn Deletes Planets with a Swing of Her Weapon
I’ve been thinking about power levels in different universes, and the Sailor Moon characters are just on another level. Sailor Saturn, especially, is incredible – she’s basically the spirit of death itself. Her weapon, the Silence Glaive, isn’t just strong, it’s capable of wiping entire planets out of existence. It makes characters like Guts and Griffith, who are powerful in their own right, seem limited. Their abilities are tied to their world, but Sailor Saturn could destroy that world with a single swing of her weapon.
Similar to Griffith, Sailor Saturn possesses immense destructive power – far greater than even his strongest form. She’s a goddess of death, a force of destiny whose purpose is to eliminate worlds that have lost their value. If Sailor Saturn were to judge Guts and Griffith’s world as beyond saving, there would be no way to resist her decision.
Gilgamesh Breaks Reality With Infinite Blades
Gilgamesh from the Fate series is known for both his massive ego and incredible power. He possesses the Gate of Babylon, an ability that lets him summon an endless collection of powerful weapons from dimensional portals. He can unleash these weapons at an astonishing rate, like a machine gun, and each one explodes upon hitting its target – it’s a level of firepower that would even overwhelm a skilled warrior like Guts.
During his battle with the demon Griffith, Gilgamesh could wield Ea, a sword with the power to defy the laws of reality. Ea could literally cut through space and time, and even Griffith’s spiritual form wouldn’t be safe. Gilgamesh could use Ea’s magic to reach across dimensions and destroy it.
Anos Voldigoad’s Sword Cuts Quite Literally Cuts Through Logic
Anos Voldigoad from The Misfit of Demon King Academy is an incredibly powerful demon king who fights with a divine sword. Known as “The Reason Destroying Sword,” his blade, Venuzdonoa, is considered one of the strongest in anime. It’s capable of cutting through anything – not just physical objects, but also abstract concepts like ideas, order, and even fate itself.
Venuzdonoa is like an ultimate ‘undo’ button in the cosmic realm, instantly canceling out any power or protection. It could strip Griffith of his demonic abilities or shatter Guts’ fighting spirit. Remarkably, it doesn’t even need to touch an enemy to work – just its presence makes them completely helpless. A single strike from Venuzdonoa would be as if Guts and Griffith were erased from existence.
Altair Grows as Powerful as Her Fans’ Imaginations
I’ve noticed something really unique about the character Altair from the anime Re:Creators. Most characters get their powers from things happening within their story, but Altair is different. Her abilities actually come from what fans write about her! Basically, if enough people write fan fiction imagining her as a skilled swordfighter, she becomes one. It’s like her powers are built by her fanbase – it’s fascinating to watch.
I’m absolutely fascinated by Altair! She’s got this incredible power – just like Gilgamesh, she can conjure up a seemingly endless barrage of swords and control them with her mind. But it doesn’t stop there! She can actually bend reality itself, which is mind-blowing. Seriously, her abilities defy the very rules of the universe. And the craziest part? Her goal isn’t just destruction, it’s to end everything – even Femto doesn’t go that far! It’s a level of villainy I’ve rarely seen.
Ichigo Kurosaki Is Arguably Shonen’s Strongest Protagonist
Ichigo Kurosaki starts Bleach as a typical teen, but he grows into an incredibly powerful fighter. A key part of his strength is his amazing speed. Many characters in the series move at nearly the speed of light, and some can even teleport. Even with his powerful Berserker Armor, Guts is still just a very skilled human swordsman, and can’t compete with the speed Ichigo displays when he fully masters his Bankai later in the series.
Griffith isn’t fast enough to keep up with Ichigo, and even if he could temporarily slow Ichigo down with his warping abilities, he’d still be overwhelmed by Ichigo’s immense spiritual power. Ichigo is capable of attacks that can harm incredibly powerful, universe-level beings in the Bleach series. As a Soul Reaper, he’s well-equipped to fight a demon like Femto.
Sephiroth Ascends to Angelic Levels of Power
Sephiroth, often called the “One Winged Angel” from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, is an incredibly powerful swordsman, almost god-like in his abilities. He fights with an enormous katana – even bigger than Guts’s famous Dragon Slayer – and is very experienced in battling opponents who also wield massive swords, thanks to his many fights against Cloud Strife.
Although Femto would be a tough opponent, Sephiroth can transform into a more powerful form, Safer Sephiroth, to fight him. By drawing on the energy of the Lifestream, Sephiroth overcomes his physical limits and becomes incredibly powerful – almost like a god. This allows him to either equal or surpass Femto’s ability to manipulate reality, giving Sephiroth a significant advantage in battle.
Asta Nullifies Even the Most Powerful Magic
Despite appearing as a young and unassuming character, Asta from Black Clover grows into a powerful fighter. His biggest advantage against characters like Guts and Griffith from Berserk is his ability to negate magic, which is central to their combat style. Using the Demon-Destroyer Sword, Asta can break causality, essentially undoing the effects of spells. Given that Griffith’s power depends entirely on manipulating fate itself, he would be at a significant disadvantage against Asta.
Okay, so Asta might not look as scary as Guts at first glance, but trust me, he grows into a seriously powerful fighter! He eventually takes on devils that are just as strong – if not stronger – than the demons Guts battles all the time. Honestly, seeing how Asta handles threats on that level, I really think he could go up against Guts and actually survive. It’d be an epic fight, but I’d put my money on Asta being able to hold his own!
Rimuru Tempest Goes Godmode in Battle
Rimuru, the main character of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, starts off as a simple slime, but quickly grows into an incredibly powerful being, potentially capable of destroying the universe. He’s a Demon Lord comparable to Femto, with the ability to control space, time, and even fate itself. Thanks to skills like Raphael, Rimuru can instantly understand, copy, and counter almost any attack – he could even deflect magical attacks from someone like Griffith.
Rimuru’s most powerful ability is called Azazthoth, inspired by a destructive being from H.P. Lovecraft’s stories. It lets him control the power of nothingness, effectively reshaping reality and breaking the rules of physics. It’s essentially an all-powerful “godmode” that would allow him to overcome any challenge – even characters as strong as Guts and Griffith wouldn’t be able to defeat him.
