10 Best Anime Of Fall 2025, Ranked

As Fall 2025 ends, we can look back on a really enjoyable anime season. While it didn’t have quite as many blockbuster titles as some past seasons, there were still lots of excellent shows, and the season as a whole provided a strong finish to the year.

While past seasons might have had some bigger blockbuster anime, Fall 2025 was still an amazing season thanks to both returning series and exciting new shows. It’s clear when you look at some of the season’s highlights just how strong it was.

10) My Status As An Assassin Obviously Exceeds The Hero’s

In the light novel My Status As an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s, a group of high school students is transported to the world of Morigan to battle the demon king. Unexpectedly, Akira Oda’s Assassin class is actually stronger than the Hero’s, and he uses this power to secretly work behind the scenes to protect the world.

Despite using many familiar tropes from the isekai genre, My Status As an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s is surprisingly enjoyable because it presents them with a straight face. The show is elevated by its excellent animation and art style, and feels reminiscent of older isekai series – which is a large part of what makes it so good.

9) Digimon Beatbreak

Toei Animation’s Digimon Beatbreak is the tenth series in the Digimon anime universe. Set in the future, the story revolves around AI devices called Sapotama, which run on e-pulse – a fuel powered by emotions. When emotions run wild, Digimon are created and attack people to steal their e-pulse. It’s up to Cleaners like Tomoro Tenma and his Digimon partner, Gekkomon, to protect everyone.

After Digimon Ghost Game didn’t quite hit the mark, a lot of expectations were on Digimon Beatbreak. Thankfully, it’s delivering! With its likable characters, exciting battles, and clever take on classic Digimon themes, it’s already exceeding expectations. While it’s still new, Digimon Beatbreak is shaping up to be a truly memorable series.

8) This Monster Wants To Eat Me

Hinako Yaotose is struggling with grief after losing her family. When a mermaid named Shiori Oumi offers to eat her, seemingly to protect her from other supernatural creatures called yokai, Hinako sees it as a strange sort of salvation. However, the situation quickly becomes much more complex than she anticipated in Studio Lings’ This Monster Wants to Eat Me.

This Monster Wants to Eat Me is a standout story because it skillfully blends scary moments with genuine emotion, exploring themes of depression and PTSD. The added romantic relationship between two women (a ‘yuri’ theme) makes it even more appealing. It shares a lot of similarities with the popular story, The Summer Hikaru Died, and fans of one will likely enjoy the other.

7) May I Ask For One Final Thing?

Liden Films’ May I Ask for One Final Thing? starts with a familiar scene from otome games: the supposed villainess has her engagement broken off in a very public and embarrassing way. But Scarlet El Vandimion isn’t like other characters in this situation – she’s actually tough and rebellious, and she uses the opportunity to finally get revenge on everyone who’s bothered her for years.

“May I Ask for One Final Thing?” is a really enjoyable anime with a funny idea that doesn’t go overboard. It’s largely carried by how awesome the main character is! Villainess stories are still trending, and this anime stands out as one of the best parodies of the genre.

6) Ranma ½ Season 2

I recently watched MAPPA’s take on Ranma ½, and it’s quite a story! It centers around Ranma Saotome, a talented martial artist who finds himself unexpectedly engaged to Akane Tendo, a girl with a really strong personality. Between both of their stubborn streaks, plus all the other people who have crushes on them, things are already complicated. But there’s one more catch: Ranma is cursed to transform into a girl whenever water touches him! So, you can imagine, building a relationship is a huge challenge for these two.

The first season of the Ranma ½ revival was a big success, and the second season continues that trend. It delivers the same fantastic mix of action and humor, with an expanded group of quirky and endearing characters. It’s one of the best anime revivals currently available, and fans are hoping it continues for a long time.

5) Sanda

Science Saru’s Sanda is set in a future Japan where the government strictly controls children’s lives. Their only hope comes from Kazushige Sanda, who has the unique ability to transform into Santa Claus and bring the spirit of Christmas – and the joy of holidays in general – back to a world that has lost its meaning.

Sanda boasts the imaginative animation you’d expect from Science Saru, and pairs it with a strangely touching story about growing up. Even when things get bizarre, it’s consistently entertaining. This series is the second creation from Paru Itagaki, the author of Beastars, and it might be even more delightfully unconventional.

4) Record Of Ragnarok Season 3

The anime Record of Ragnarok, created by Yumeta Company and Maru Animation, begins with the gods deciding to end humanity. However, the Valkyrie Brunhilde steps in, proposing a tournament called Ragnarok where 12 of history’s strongest humans will battle 12 of the most powerful gods. This gives humanity one last chance to prove its worth and allows the gods to demonstrate their dominance once and for all.

The third season of Record of Ragnarok arrived in December, and it’s just as enjoyable as before! What’s really impressive is that the animation quality has finally improved to match the story and exciting action. This anime has always had potential, and hopefully, this higher quality will continue in future seasons.

3) Spy X Family Season 3

Wit Studio’s Spy x Family follows Twilight, a skilled spy, who needs to create a fake family to complete a dangerous mission: preventing a war. But his chosen ‘wife’ is a deadly assassin, and his ‘daughter’ has telepathic powers. Only the daughter, Anya, knows everyone’s secret identities and true intentions.

The third season of Spy x Family is here, and it’s just as hilarious and beautifully animated as before. What’s new is a stronger emotional core and more relatable moments, particularly as we learn more about Loid’s difficult past. Spy x Family has always been popular, but this season could be what makes it a truly exceptional show.

2) Umamusume: Cinderella Gray

CygamesPictures’ Umamusume: Cinderella Gray is a prequel to the popular Umamusume: Pretty Derby series. It shows the journey of Oguri Cap, a promising young racer who overcomes numerous challenges and hardships to become one of the most legendary Umamusume ever.

The second part of Umamusume: Cinderella Gray recently aired, and it continues to be a fantastic sports drama. It features even better character development and animation than the first half. Umamusume was a huge hit in 2025, and it’s wonderful that Cinderella Gray contributed to that success.

1) My Hero Academia: Final Season

Izuku Midoriya, the main character in Bones Film’s My Hero Academia, has always dreamed of being a hero. Even though he was born without any superpowers, his life changes when he meets his hero, All Might. With All Might’s help, Izuku gets the opportunity to show everyone he has what it takes to become not just a hero, but the very best.

I watched the final season of My Hero Academia when it premiered in Fall 2025, aptly named My Hero Academia: Final Season, and it was incredible. The animation was top-notch, and the writing really delivered a satisfying emotional conclusion. It’s clear to me that My Hero Academia has earned its place as a classic, and this final season was, without a doubt, the best anime of Fall 2025.
