Unlike typical superhero stories from Marvel or DC, The Boys deliberately sets itself apart by focusing on the dark side of superheroes. It shows how having immense power can lead to corruption. The series also features a wide range of abilities, some more useful than others. While Homelander has classic superpowers, characters like Firecracker are less fortunate. Despite being part of the elite group The Seven, Firecracker’s powers are limited to creating small sparks, so she relies on her personality to get noticed. Even so, she occasionally resorts to physical confrontation.
Action is a core part of any superhero story, and The Boys is no exception – each season features big battles that test the limits of its characters. While not every fight is memorable, here’s a rundown of the ten best ones from the show so far.
10) The Boys & A-Train vs. Black Noir and The Deep
The main team is usually at a disadvantage because they lack superpowers. However, in Season 4, A-Train saves them when Starlight, Billy Butcher, and Mother’s Milk are attacked by Black Noir and the Deep. It’s satisfying to see the Deep get beaten up by people he’s wronged in the past, and the scene includes a standout moment with a minigun.
9) Hughie & Butcher vs. Translucent
The series kicks off with a shocking confrontation: Translucent, one of the powerful Seven, attempts to murder Hughie Campbell at his job. Determined to stop a Supe from hurting someone else, Butcher goes to extreme lengths to fight back, even using a car as a weapon. However, the most memorable part of this scene is how Hughie manages to incapacitate Translucent in a disturbing manner, immediately establishing the show’s dark and violent tone.
8) Black Noir vs. Kimiko
Vought isn’t the only organization making Superheroes, and when The Boys encounter Kimiko, Black Noir intervenes. He immediately tries to eliminate her, but quickly discovers she’s more resilient than he anticipated. Even attempting to kill her proves ineffective, as the fight culminates in the shocking reveal of Kimiko’s ability to rapidly heal – a truly surprising moment in the show.
7) Starlight vs. Firecracker
Fights that are completely unfair usually aren’t memorable, but sometimes when someone deserves a beating, it’s worth mentioning. In Season 4 of The Boys, Firecracker shares secrets that Starlight wants to keep hidden, and Starlight finally snaps. She publicly attacks Firecracker, leaving her severely injured.
6) Payback vs. the Russians
In The Boys, Supes are so powerful they almost never have to worry about being harmed by ordinary people. However, a flashback in Season 3 shows a different story. We see an older Supe team, Payback, being attacked by Russian soldiers. Soldier Boy fights like Captain America, using his shield to take down enemies. Even though they ultimately lose, Payback puts up a strong fight.
5) Butcher vs. Black Noir
Black Noir enjoys surprising his opponents. When Vought sends him after Hughie and Butcher, he expects an easy victory, but they anticipate his attack and set a trap for him. Black Noir walks right into it and gets badly beaten by Butcher. Although he eventually manages to fight back, the encounter demonstrates Butcher’s determination and quick thinking.
4) Butcher vs. Gunpowder
Butcher’s search for information on Soldier Boy leads him to Gunpowder, a former Payback member who’s reluctant to talk. Butcher, tired of being cautious, forces a confrontation while powered up with Temp V. Seeing Butcher finally dominate a Supe in a fight is a highlight – especially when he uses heat vision, a power Homelander is known for.
3) Homelander vs. Everybody
The final battle of Season 3 really puts Homelander to the test. He’s attacked by Soldier Boy and Butcher inside Vought Tower, and Queen Maeve jumps into the fight too. It’s a chaotic battle with shifting alliances, making it hard to follow. Ultimately, despite everything thrown at him, Homelander survives and remains a threat.
2) Soldier Boy, Billy & Hughie vs. Homelander
Earlier in the third season of The Boys, Homelander faced a similar challenge during the Herogasm event. Soldier Boy, Butcher, and Hughie – who had gained powers from Temp V – all attacked him at once and almost defeated him. It was a rare and intense moment where it genuinely seemed like major characters might die, and it delivered everything you could want from a superhero fight.
1) Queen Maeve, Kimiko & Starlight vs. Stormfront
The fight between Queen Maeve, Kimiko, and Starlight against Stormfront was incredibly satisfying after building throughout the second season. Stormfront’s constant promotion of hateful Nazi beliefs finally reached a breaking point. What made the scene especially clever was its clear nod to a famous battle from Avengers: Endgame. It’s a perfect example of how The Boys can handle a major showdown without losing its sense of humor.
The Boys is streaming on Prime Video.
