10 DC Heroes the Justice League Can’t Stand

The Justice League is DC Comics’ most famous team, bringing together Earth’s and the universe’s strongest heroes. It began with seven core members – Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter – who joined forces to battle threats too big for any one of them to handle. Over time, almost every significant DC hero (and even a few villains!) has been part of the League. Currently, the Justice League technically includes all the planet’s superheroes, though that doesn’t mean they all get along!

The Justice League has often had trouble working with certain heroes, despite their best efforts to be welcoming. It always feels strained when these individuals join the team, like something’s just…off. Here are ten heroes the Justice League can’t seem to get along with, even though they’ve all been members at one time or another.

10) Huntress

Before the ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ event, the Huntress was known as Helena Wayne, the daughter of Batman and Catwoman from an alternate Earth. That version of the character disappeared after the Crisis. A new Huntress, Helena Bertinelli, then emerged, driven by a desire for revenge after witnessing her father, a mafia boss, being murdered. This Huntress was more aggressive and prone to lethal force than other vigilantes in Gotham, which created tension with Batman and the rest of the Bat-Family. Despite this, she eventually earned their respect and was even invited to join the Justice League. However, her violent tendencies caused conflicts with her teammates, ultimately leading to her removal from the team after a battle with Mageddon. She hasn’t had a close relationship with the League since.

9) Booster Gold

The Justice League has had many different teams over the years, and the Justice League International is a particularly memorable one. This version was known for being a bit chaotic, and Booster Gold was often the biggest source of trouble. Booster is a former athlete from the future who traveled back in time to become a celebrated hero. While he has good intentions, he’s often irritating, always seeking more fame. His jokes don’t usually land well, and most League members would prefer to face a dangerous villain alone than spend time with him.

8) Guy Gardner

Earth has produced some of the greatest Green Lanterns, and Guy Gardner is definitely one of them. However, his confidence often comes across as arrogance. He enjoys provoking others and has a quick temper, making him difficult to work with. His time with the Justice League International perfectly illustrates this – he constantly caused problems and frequently ended up fighting with his teammates. While everyone acknowledges his strength and abilities, most people avoid him if they can.

7) Superboy-Prime

Superboy-Prime is trying to prove he’s changed after assisting in the fight against Darkseid in DC K.O.. He originally saved the universe during Crisis on Infinite Earths, then became a villain in Infinite Crisis. After years of being a bad guy, DC gave him a chance at happiness, and now he’s stepped up to protect Metropolis following the battle with the Final God. However, the Justice League is understandably wary of him. Their past encounters with him were usually hostile, and he often tried to harm them. They don’t want him at their headquarters, the Watchtower, and are keeping a close eye on his every move.

6) Captain Atom

Nathaniel Adam was a soldier involved in a top-secret experiment using technology from another world. This experiment sent him forward in time and granted him incredible abilities to control anything around him – matter, energy, and even time itself. For years, he’s served the U.S. government, fighting against threats and ultimately becoming part of the Justice League International. However, his past is complicated; the government has often used him to pursue other heroes, and his future self is revealed to be the Monarch, a powerful villain intent on global domination. This creates distrust within the team, as his allies are never quite sure whose side he’s on – theirs, or the government’s.

5) Orion

Orion is the son of the villain Darkseid, but was given to New Genesis as part of a peace agreement. He grew up among the New Gods, trained by Highfather, and became their most skilled warrior. Despite his upbringing, he inherited his father’s fiery temper, making it hard for him to form close relationships. He thrives in battle, and when he’s not fighting, he’s often argumentative and quick to pick a fight. While the Justice League appreciates his strength in a fight, they generally prefer when he moves on. He hasn’t always gotten along with his teammates during the times he’s joined the group.

4) Lobo

Lobo is incredibly powerful and dangerous, considered one of the biggest threats in the DC Universe. Originally from the planet Czarnia, he was already known for being aggressive, and he famously eliminated his entire race. He’s battled countless heroes and villains, even spending time as a member of the Justice League, but his abrasive personality means he’s not exactly popular. Lobo constantly tests people’s limits, looking for a fight, and he’s strong enough to win those fights, which makes him a problem for his teammates. His tendency to cause trouble often leads to significant destruction.

3) Plastic Man

Plastic Man is incredibly powerful, with the unique ability to completely reshape his body into anything imaginable – he doesn’t just stretch, he becomes whatever he transforms into, like a fully functional fighter jet. He’s practically invulnerable and was recruited for the Justice League by Batman. While a valuable fighter, his unpredictable nature, a result of his powers, can make him difficult to manage. The League keeps him around because of his strength, and without it, he wouldn’t be part of the team.

2) Batman

Batman is a powerful and important hero for DC Comics, and a central figure in the Justice League. Though he’s considered a leader alongside Superman and Wonder Woman, he’s also caused significant issues for the team. He’s kept things hidden, developed contingency plans to eliminate his teammates, and often clashes with others. It’s likely the Justice League would have kicked him out if not for Superman and Wonder Woman’s support and his skills in combat.

1) John Constantine

John Constantine has officially become DC’s Sorcerer Supreme – the most powerful magical defender of Earth. While he helped found and once led the Justice League Dark, not everyone appreciates working with him. That’s because Constantine, despite his good intentions and dedication to saving the world, is willing to sacrifice anyone to get the job done. He’s also known for being blunt and often rude, making him a difficult teammate for most of the League.
