The Weapon X Program is a notoriously cruel organization in Marvel Comics, responsible for countless inhumane experiments. It’s part of the larger Weapon Plus Program and was created by the government to build the ultimate super soldiers. Weapon X focuses on giving people mutant powers or boosting the abilities of those who already have them. Those few test subjects who survive the process are brainwashed to ensure absolute obedience. However, many break free from this control, either escaping to become regretful heroes or dangerous villains.
The Weapon X Program aimed to produce ruthless killers, and it was remarkably successful. However, the methods used to control them clearly weren’t perfect. This list details the most dangerous individuals created by the program and its related projects.
10) Kimura

Kimura was hired by a division of Weapon Plus called the Facility and turned into a nearly unstoppable fighter. As Talon’s captor, she enjoyed brutally attacking the young girl, confident that Talon couldn’t hurt her due to her incredibly durable skin – even adamantium couldn’t pierce it. Kimura also had the ability to become invisible. After Talon escaped, Kimura relentlessly hunted her, intent on killing her. This made Kimura Talon’s greatest enemy, and they fought multiple times. Ultimately, Talon defeated her abuser by drowning her.
9) Ajax

Francis Fanny, known as Ajax, started as a brutal enforcer for the Weapon X program. He enjoyed tormenting test subjects, including Deadpool. To help him control them, he was given superhuman strength and speed, and all his ability to feel pain was taken away. After Deadpool almost killed him, Ajax was rebuilt to be even faster and stronger – capable of lifting several tons and moving at speeds that generate intense heat. He also wears special armor that lets him see the weaknesses in his opponents’ bodies, like their bones and nerves. This cruel villain became one of Deadpool’s most dangerous foes.
8) Talon

Laura Kinney, also known as Talon and originally designated X-23, is Wolverine’s genetic daughter created in a laboratory. Raised to be an even better fighter than Wolverine, she’s a highly skilled combatant with adamantium claws built into her arms and feet, and she shares his incredible healing ability, speed, and senses. After escaping the lab where she was created and destroying it to prevent further cloning, Talon joins the X-Men and briefly becomes the new Wolverine. She’s a fierce warrior capable of entering a savage, animalistic fury, taking down anyone who stands in her way.
7) Sabretooth

Sabretooth, Wolverine’s greatest enemy, completely gives in to his primal, animalistic instincts. Their intense rivalry began long before they were subjected to the Weapon X Program and persisted even after their memories were wiped and they were forced to work together. After escaping Weapon X, Sabretooth dedicated himself to tormenting Wolverine. Like Wolverine, Sabretooth’s mutant abilities give him incredible strength, enhanced senses, rapid healing, and metal-shredding claws. These matching powers have fueled countless brutal fights between them. A cruel and sadistic killer, Sabretooth has murdered many people throughout his life, both for his own enjoyment and to inflict pain on Wolverine.
6) Deadpool

Deadpool, also known as Wade Wilson, is a famously unpredictable and dangerous mercenary in the Marvel Universe. Facing a cancer diagnosis, he joined the Weapon X program hoping for a cure. They injected him with Wolverine’s DNA, which gave him a powerful healing ability but left him severely scarred. Now a chaotic anti-hero, Deadpool is skilled with all kinds of weapons and has killed countless people, either for money or just because he wanted to. Though he’s developed a bit of a conscience over time, he’s still willing to kill if he deems it necessary.
5) Wolverine

Wolverine is the most famous result of the Weapon X program. Originally born in the 1800s, this mutant spent over a century wandering the globe before becoming part of a military team called Team X. Later, Weapon X captured him and subjected him to experiments, bonding adamantium to his bones. He eventually broke free, but lost his memories in the process. Wolverine then found a place with the X-Men, where he became a fierce warrior. His adamantium claws allow him to slice through nearly any material, and he can heal from almost any wound. When enraged, Wolverine enters a ‘Berserker Rage,’ losing his sense of humanity and becoming a relentless, unstoppable force.
4) Romulus

Romulus, the creator of the Weapon X Program, is an incredibly dangerous mutant who has existed for thousands of years. He’s one of the original Lupus Sapiens – a human-like species that evolved from wolves instead of apes. Driven by a desire to make Wolverine the perfect weapon, Romulus secretly controlled events in the hero’s life for decades, ultimately leading to Wolverine becoming a test subject in the Weapon X program. Like Wolverine, Romulus has adamantium claws, incredibly fast reflexes, and can heal from almost any injury. Combining all of Wolverine’s abilities with centuries of experience, Romulus is a clever and heartless villain responsible for Wolverine’s suffering and the pain of many others involved with Weapon X.
3) Shiva

The Weapon X Program didn’t just erase the memories of its test subjects to keep them hidden – it also had a final, deadly backup plan called Shiva. If a subject started to remember the truth or went out of control, Shiva, a powerful robot, would be sent to eliminate them. Shiva is incredibly strong, fast, can fly, teleport, and even shoot energy blasts. But its most frightening ability is triggering the painful, repressed memories of Weapon X subjects – memories of intense torture. And even if Shiva is destroyed, its artificial intelligence simply transfers to a new robotic body, learning from past battles to become even more dangerous.
2) Psi-Borg

Weapon X used false memories to control its subjects, and these were created by a man named Aldo Ferro, who had psychic powers. In return for a special serum that extended his life – made from Wolverine’s healing ability – Aldo worked for Weapon X. However, Weapon X double-crossed him, leaving him needing a large, armored suit just to stay alive. Now calling himself Psi-Borg, he’s incredibly powerful, able to fight off multiple Weapon X subjects at once, including Wolverine, Sabretooth, Maverick, and a clone of Silver Fox. He’s even strong enough to manipulate Sabretooth into killing the Silver Fox clone.
1) Weapon H

Imagine combining the powers of Wolverine and the Hulk – the result is Clayton Cortez, better known as Weapon H. He was captured by the shadowy Weapon X program and subjected to brutal experiments designed to create the ultimate mutant hunter. Scientists bonded his skeleton with adamantium and spliced his DNA with that of both Wolverine and the Hulk. This turned him into a massive, incredibly powerful creature with enormous, virtually indestructible claws. Weapon H isn’t just strong and durable; he can also transform and copy the abilities of other gamma mutants, like the Red Hulk’s heat blasts, Harpy’s wings, or even the Leader’s intellect. Fortunately, he eventually broke free from Weapon X and dedicated himself to being a hero.
