10 Demon Slayer Spin-Offs We Need to See

WARNING! This article contains spoilers about the Demon Slayer manga and the Infinity Castle film.

The world of Demon Slayer has a deep history and fascinating characters, offering many possibilities for stories beyond Tanjiro Kamado’s main journey. Although the series wraps up the fight against Muzan Kibutsuji, it leaves many intriguing ideas unexplored – stories that could enrich the lore and stand on their own. The lives of the Hashira, the history of the Demon Slayer Corps, and the experiences of those left after the final battle are just a few examples. Exploring these untold stories could give fans a deeper appreciation for the series and its characters, letting them revisit favorites and learn more about the events that shaped the demon slayers’ destinies.

Whether it’s through touching love stories or revealing difficult truths from the past, the world of Demon Slayer offers countless possibilities for compelling and emotionally resonant storytelling.

10) Life After the Final Battle

Following Muzan’s defeat, it would be compelling to see a story focused on the main characters adjusting to a peaceful life. This could show Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke dealing with the relief and lasting effects of their battles, discovering new goals, and learning to live normally after years of fighting demons. It would be a story about healing, overcoming grief, and personal growth in a world finally free from danger.

A potential sequel could center around Nezuko learning to live as a human again. Having spent years as a demon before turning back, she’d face interesting psychological challenges. It would also be compelling to see the core group navigate a peaceful, post-battle life, dealing with any remaining physical or emotional scars from their past experiences. This could offer a heartwarming and satisfying conclusion to their story.

9) The Relationship Between Tanjiro and Kanao

The connection between Tanjiro and Kanao is special and deserves to be explored in more detail. Their relationship grew from a fragile beginning, built on shared past hurts, into a strong, silent source of comfort for each other. A series focused on them could wonderfully capture the small, meaningful moments of their developing romance and the deep understanding they share.

It would be lovely to see Kanao learn to follow her own heart and make decisions for herself, especially with Tanjiro’s kindness guiding her. A story about their lives after the fighting stopped, showing them growing and finding love and friendship after difficult childhoods, would be really touching.

8) The First Generation of Demon Slayers

This story would take viewers back to the frightening time when the first demon, Muzan, emerged and the Demon Slayer Corps was created. It would focus on Yoriichi Tsugikuni, a remarkably powerful Demon Slayer, showing how he developed Sun Breathing and fought the earliest demons. Expect a dark and intense story about incredible strength facing pure evil.

I’d love to see a detailed explanation of how Sun Breathing evolved. It seems Yoriichi’s original technique was just too difficult for most to learn, so it branched out into all the different styles we see the Hashira using. Seeing how those early swordsmen adapted and developed things like Flame Breathing, Water Breathing, Wind Breathing, and so on, would really highlight their incredible resourcefulness and determination when facing almost certain death. It’s a testament to how people can overcome huge challenges.

7) Shinjuro Rengoku’s Tenure as Flame Hashira

Shinjuro Rengoku’s past as a powerful Hashira, before his wife’s death led to his struggles with depression and alcohol, offers a compelling story filled with both exciting action and deep emotion. Showing Shinjuro at the height of his abilities and the admiration he earned would greatly enrich the Rengoku family’s history. It could also explore the pressures of upholding a respected name and the challenges of being one of the strongest demon slayers.

A spin-off series could explore Shinjuro’s connections with the other Hashira of his time and detail his missions, including the one where he saved Obanai Iguro, who later became the Serpent Hashira. Even just focusing on that single rescue mission, seen through Shinjuro’s eyes, would be a compelling story, and it could also reveal whether Kyojuro and Obanai knew each other before becoming Hashira.

6) Tengen Uzui’s Shinobi Past

I’m completely fascinated by Tengen! The little glimpses we get of his past – his tough childhood and intense shinobi training – really hint at a deeply compelling and tragic story. I’d love to see a whole story dedicated to exploring what he went through, the brutal realities of his upbringing, and his relationships with his siblings, especially knowing how many didn’t survive. It would be incredible to understand the impossible ethical dilemmas his father forced upon him. It’s a backstory just begging to be fully revealed!

Exploring the roots of his extravagant beliefs and why he abandoned the life of a ninja – driven by his strong principles and the love of his wives – would be a compelling story. It could be a fast-paced, intense drama showing the contrast between a dark past and Tengen’s eventual embrace of a brighter life focused on love instead of conflict.

5) Kyojuro Rengoku: Pre-Mugen Train Missions

Kyojuro Rengoku quickly became a beloved character, even though he wasn’t on screen for very long, which shows how well-written he was. A series that showed his adventures before the Mugen Train story would be fantastic, letting fans see more of his abilities and courageous personality through different fights.

I think it would be really powerful to see a story about Rengoku’s time as a Hashira, particularly focusing on his close friendships with Tengen, Mitsuri, and Muichiro. It would be amazing to watch him guide Mitsuri and connect with the others – that would really show us why everyone was so devastated when he died, and how he truly earned the title of the Corps’ beloved older brother. Plus, it could show us how much he influenced Tanjiro and helped him grow stronger.

4) Mitsuri Kanroji and Obanai Iguro‘s Romance

The connection between the Love and Serpent Hashira is one of the most moving parts of the story. Their brief but powerful romance, rooted in a shared mission and a genuine understanding of each other’s vulnerabilities, deserves a more detailed exploration than what we see during the final fight.

I’m seriously hoping they do a spin-off focusing on Obanai and Mitsuri’s history! Imagine seeing their very first missions together and how their feelings slowly grew – it would be amazing. I’d love to finally get a really in-depth look at what Obanai went through and how Mitsuri came to accept him for who he is. It was such a powerful connection between them, built on quiet support and a longing that just felt destined, and I think a spin-off could really showcase that beautifully.

3) Kagaya Ubuyashiki‘s Backstory

Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the compassionate and highly respected leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, is central to the organization’s continued existence. Learning about his family’s history – including a long-standing curse and the burdens he accepted from a young age – is crucial to understanding how the Corps operates and why it exists.

A series about Kagaya’s life would really showcase his inner strength and his close, supportive relationship with the Hashira. It would delve into how he kept everyone hopeful and working together, even though he knew he was dying and carried an enormous burden of responsibility.

2) Yushiro’s Immortal Life

Yushiro, the only demon remaining after Muzan’s defeat, was granted immortality by Tamayo. This presents a powerful opportunity for a moving, extended story about coping with loss and continuing life after losing someone deeply loved. Imagining him living in a world without Tamayo, while honoring her memory through her medical work, would be a profoundly sad yet beautiful tale.

The story could cover many years, showing how the world changed quickly while he stayed the same, always watching with sadness. It would center on his lonely existence, possibly involving helping the families of those who defeated demons, making sure Tamayo’s research wasn’t lost, and occasionally connecting with the few friends he had left from the Demon Slayer Corps and the Ubuyashiki family.

1) Kanae Kocho and Shinobu Kocho

The relationship between Kanae and Shinobu Kocho is central to their family’s history. A separate story could explore their joyful childhood, their mutual choice to become Demon Slayers, and how they each pursued becoming Hashira in their own unique ways.

The story needs to show the full, heartbreaking battle between Kanae and Upper Rank Two, Doma. This would include a detailed look at the fight itself, as well as the immediate, devastating impact it had on Shinobu. Showing this would help explain why Shinobu is so cold, fiercely determined, and driven by a relentless need for revenge.
