2025 was a fantastic year for movies, delivering many crowd-pleasing films that captivated audiences worldwide. Several of the year’s best releases were both critical and commercial successes, sparking lively discussions among film lovers. The year offered something for everyone, with big-budget blockbusters alongside smaller, intimate stories. As 2025 comes to a close, many of its most celebrated films are now available to stream.
As a movie lover, December is always my time to catch up on everything I’ve missed, and this year looks especially good! A ton of the biggest and most interesting films of 2025 are landing on streaming services like Netflix next month. I’ve put together a guide to the must-see movies hitting streamers in December, and where you can find them.
10) The Phoenician Scheme (Prime Video – Dec 5)

Wes Anderson’s film, The Phoenician Scheme, which became available on Blu-ray and for digital download earlier this year, will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video in December. The movie boasts an incredible cast, including Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, and many more familiar faces. Expect the signature Wes Anderson style – eccentric characters, witty conversations, and a story that blends humor with a touch of darkness.
After being available to rent on platforms like Amazon Video and Apple TV, the movie The Phoenician Scheme will be streaming on Prime Video in December. Prime members in the US can start watching it on December 5th. This offers fans a chance to enjoy Wes Anderson’s newest film and the work of a particularly strong cast.
9) Influencers (Shudder – Dec 12)

Released in 2025, Influencers is a standout horror film that hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves. It’s a sequel to the 2022 movie Influencer, again written and directed by Kurtis David Harder. After a premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival, Influencers received strong positive reviews, quickly establishing itself as one of the year’s best horror releases.
If you’re a horror fan who missed seeing the sequel at the Fantasia International Film Festival, you’ve probably been eagerly awaiting its release. Good news – it’s coming to Shudder, the horror streaming service, on December 12th! Now’s the perfect time to re-watch the first movie from 2022 and prepare for what many are calling one of the most overlooked horror films of the year.
8) F1 (Apple TV – Dec 12)

Joseph Kosinski’s 2025 film, F1 the Movie, was a major box office hit. Following the success of his previous film, Top Gun: Maverick, there was a lot of excitement for this fast-paced racing drama. Starring Brad Pitt and featuring a strong supporting cast including Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, and Tobias Menzies, the movie received positive reviews and performed well at the box office.
Even though Warner Bros. released F1 in the United States, it was actually made by Apple Studios, so you’ll be able to watch it on Apple TV. It starts streaming on December 12th, but you can already buy it from Apple. This December is a great time to watch or re-watch one of the year’s biggest and best movies, F1.
7) American Sweatshop (Hulu – Dec 18)

Despite not being a major blockbuster, the 2025 film American Sweatshop is a compelling mystery thriller that deserves more attention. Starring Lili Reinhart, the movie centers around a social media moderator who discovers a video of a crime and takes it upon herself to investigate. It first premiered at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival in March before being released nationally in September.
Despite receiving a variety of reactions, American Sweatshop is proving to be one of the most impactful films of 2025. Offering a fascinating look at today’s world of online work, the movie will be available on Hulu starting December 18th. Many consider American Sweatshop to be underappreciated, making this December a great opportunity to finally see what it’s about.
6) A Minecraft Movie (Prime Video – Dec 22)

Even before it came out, A Minecraft Movie was expected to do well, given the incredible popularity of the Minecraft game. The film, starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, didn’t just succeed – it exceeded expectations at the box office and quickly became a major cultural moment. Widely considered one of the best video game adaptations ever, A Minecraft Movie is easily one of the year’s biggest hits.
Even though you can already stream A Minecraft Movie on HBO Max, it’s coming to Amazon Prime Video on December 22nd. This will let even more people enjoy the popular film, making it a great choice for a family movie night during the holidays.
5) Strange Harvest (Hulu – Dec 23)

Released in 2025, Strange Harvest quickly became a surprising success. This horror mockumentary centers around two detectives investigating Mr. Shiny, a serial killer who reappeared after two decades. He leaves behind puzzling clues at each crime scene, seemingly to challenge the police. The film received strong positive reviews, contributing to its unexpected popularity.
Following a surprisingly successful run, the horror film Strange Harvest will be available to stream at home soon. It’s coming to Hulu in the US on December 23rd, giving horror fans a chance to watch what many are calling one of the best new horror movies of 2025 during the holidays and into the new year.
4) The Life of Chuck (Hulu – Dec 26)

Even though it might not be Stephen King’s best movie adaptation, The Life of Chuck faced tough competition. Directed by Mike Flanagan, the film stars Tom Hiddleston as Charles “Chuck” Krantz, and tells his story backwards, starting with his death—which also happens at the end of the universe. With a strong cast, The Life of Chuck was a highly anticipated release in 2025.
Following generally positive reviews, the film The Life of Chuck is moving from a limited theatrical run to streaming. This means fans can rewatch the story, and those who didn’t get a chance to see it in theaters can now enjoy the Stephen King adaptation starring Tom Hiddleston. The Life of Chuck will be available on Hulu in the US starting December 26th.
3) Sinners (Prime Video – Dec 26)

Released in 2025, Sinners quickly became known as one of the greatest vampire horror films ever made. The movie stars Michael B. Jordan playing twins – two criminals who return to their Mississippi hometown. After opening a local bar, they find themselves facing a terrifying threat: vampires. Sinners wasn’t just a critical darling, earning almost universal praise, but also a box office hit, making it one of the year’s biggest successes by any standard.
Wow, Sinners really took off this year – it felt like everyone was talking about it! If you somehow missed it in theaters, you’re in luck! Even I, who already saw it, can’t wait to watch it again when it hits Hulu on December 26th. It’s going to be so easy to access then!
2) The Naked Gun (Prime Video – Dec 29)

The 2025 revival of The Naked Gun might not be the strongest film in the series, but it was a huge hit in theaters. Starring Liam Neeson, the movie showed the comedic action franchise still has what it takes to succeed today, with excellent supporting performances from Pamela Anderson and Paul Walter Hauser. It quickly became one of the year’s most popular and talked-about comedies, proving to be a major success.
I’m so excited! The Naked Gun is already on Paramount+, but now it’s coming to Amazon Prime Video on December 29th. That means even more people will get to see this hilarious movie – and honestly, it’s shaping up to be one of the funniest releases of 2025. It’s the perfect comedy to watch during the holidays!
1) Together (Hulu – Dec 31)

Although it wasn’t a major blockbuster, the 2025 horror film Together was critically acclaimed. The movie stars Dave Franco and Alison Brie as a married couple who move to the country and begin experiencing frightening physical transformations caused by an unknown force. Because Franco and Brie are actually married in real life, their on-screen chemistry makes the film’s horror even more impactful.
Beyond being a standout relationship horror film in recent years, Together is a hidden gem of 2025. Luckily, it’s becoming available on Hulu December 31st, giving horror fans a great opportunity to watch it—or discover it for the first time. Featuring strong performances from both Brie and Franco, Together is an excellent choice for a spooky end to the year.
