It’s that time of year again – time to discover new holiday movies or revisit beloved classics! All the major streaming services offer plenty of festive options, and Prime Video is no exception, with a fantastic selection to get you in the holiday spirit.
Prime Video has many classic Christmas movies, including favorites like It’s a Wonderful Life and Love, Actually. But this list is different – it focuses on Christmas movies that are lighthearted and purely entertaining, rather than emotionally intense or dealing with serious topics.
Your Christmas Or Mine? (2022)
Look, one of the things I love about Christmas movies is how reliably cozy they are. They usually focus on stuff like falling in love or family, and that makes them super easy to just switch your brain on and enjoy. Honestly, Your Christmas or Mine? totally fits that bill – it’s exactly the kind of lighthearted movie I want around the holidays.
This British rom-com follows James and Hayley, a couple who both secretly plan to surprise each other by visiting family for the holidays. However, their plans go awry, and they both end up at the wrong family’s house – neither has met the other’s parents before!
Predictably, things get pretty chaotic, but James and Hayley both manage to connect with the families they’re staying with, despite their different backgrounds. The movie received good reviews and was popular enough to get a sequel, which is also enjoyable.
Red One (2024)

When Red One came out in 2024, it generated a lot of buzz. Despite costing around $250 million to make, the film failed to perform well at the box office, earning less than $200 million. Critics weren’t impressed either, and the movie was considered a flop.
You know, I actually enjoyed Red One as a lighthearted holiday watch. The plot is pretty simple – Santa gets kidnapped! – and it throws together the head of the North Pole’s security team with a bit of a hacker to try and find him. It’s a surprisingly action-packed ride, and I definitely got a few good laughs out of it.
Red One immediately grabs your attention with its impressive cast, including Chris Evans, Dwayne Johnson, J.K. Simmons, and Lucy Liu. Kiernan Shipka also shines as the villain. It’s a fun, lighthearted movie if you’re looking for some easy entertainment.
Feast Of The Seven Fishes (2019)
The Feast of the Seven Fishes, a popular Italian American tradition, has gained more attention recently. Celebrated on Christmas Eve, it centers around a large meal featuring multiple fish and seafood dishes.
The tradition was even featured in a standout episode of the show The Bear. But before that, there was a movie called Feast of the Seven Fishes that many people haven’t discovered – it’s a real hidden treasure. Critics liked it too, giving it an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie Feast of the Seven Fishes centers on a family’s holiday celebration, which is complicated when the son introduces his girlfriend, who has a different perspective on the holidays. Featuring a strong cast including Skyler Gisondo, Madison Iseman, and Addison Timlin, this heartwarming film offers a realistic look at family and traditions.
Oh. What. Fun. (2025)
One of the newest Christmas movies here is an original from Prime Video. It immediately grabs your attention thanks to its fantastic cast, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Felicity Jones, Chloë Grace Moretz, Jason Schwartzman, and Danielle Brooks, among other talented actors.
Claire, the mother of the family, spends the whole year striving to create the perfect Christmas, but her efforts go unnoticed and unappreciated. Feeling taken for granted, she decides to embark on a solo trip during the holidays, leaving her family to handle Christmas on their own.
Critics weren’t very enthusiastic about Oh. What. Fun., giving it a 32% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But that’s pretty common for Christmas movies, so fans of the genre will probably still enjoy it.
Better Watch Out (2016)
You might not immediately think of horror when you picture fun Christmas movies, and that’s why you might miss out on Better Watch Out. It’s a holiday film with a surprisingly dark premise – definitely not your usual Christmas fare.
The movie Better Watch Out begins with a young boy who has a crush on his babysitter and wants to impress her. Things take a dark turn when a home invasion happens, and she tries to protect him, only to realize he orchestrated the whole thing. He then attacks her, ties her up, and attempts to manipulate her into returning his feelings.
This psychological horror film centers around a disturbed boy, and while that might not sound like typical entertainment, it’s surprisingly enjoyable. The movie balances the dark subject matter with moments of levity, and positive reviews confirm it’s a well-made production.
Arthur Christmas (2011)
I really wish more people would talk about Arthur Christmas! It’s such an underrated holiday movie, and honestly, it has everything I look for in one. It’s genuinely funny, focuses on Santa’s family, and it’s just so heartwarming. It’s a total gem!
The movie Arthur Christmas tells the story of a Christmas delivery gone wrong. When a high-tech system fails, Santa accidentally misses delivering a present to one child. Instead of giving up, Santa’s son Arthur takes it upon himself to ensure the child receives their gift.
This movie delivers plenty of fun action, a heartwarming story about family, and leaves you feeling good. “Arthur Christmas” is a fantastic choice for a family movie night and stands out as one of the best animated holiday films around.
Something From Tiffany’s (2022)
Similar to movies like Your Christmas or Mine?, Something From Tiffany’s uses a storyline we’ve seen before in holiday films. However, it delivers these familiar tropes with a lot of heart and charm.
The movie Something From Tiffany’s tells the story of Rachel, whose boyfriend is struck by a car near a Tiffany’s store. She discovers a ring in a jewelry box and assumes it’s an engagement proposal, but it turns out he actually purchased earrings. The ring rightfully belongs to Ethan, who helped her boyfriend after the accident, and their jewelry boxes were accidentally swapped.
While a mix-up unfolds, Rachel and Ethan unexpectedly form a strong connection. The movie is a sweet and enjoyable romance, largely thanks to the great chemistry between Zoey Deutch and Kendrick Sampson. Critics generally gave the heartwarming story positive reviews.
Die Hard (1988)
The debate continues even today: Is Die Hard truly a Christmas movie? We firmly believe it is, and it’s hard to find a more enjoyable film to watch during the holidays.
I’ve always thought what really sets Die Hard apart is that it’s a straight-up action movie, unlike a lot of other films that focus on romance or family adventures. It centers around John McClane, a New York cop who travels to Los Angeles hoping to patch things up with his wife, but she ends up getting taken hostage during a terrorist attack. It’s a wild ride!
As a fan, I think what really makes this movie great is watching McClane fight to save his wife and everyone else from these criminals. And even though it’s an action movie, the fact that it all happens on Christmas Eve adds a special touch – you see Christmas decorations and themes throughout, which makes it a truly classic film.
Anna And The Apocalypse (2017)
Christmas movies are usually cheerful and lighthearted, but Anna and the Apocalypse is different. It surprisingly mixes in elements from genres that are typically pure fun—specifically, it’s a Christmas story, a zombie movie, and a musical all rolled into one.
With Christmas approaching, Anna and the Apocalypse tells the story of Anna and her friends as they battle a zombie outbreak. This surprisingly heartfelt holiday movie blends horror with genuine emotional moments, making it a true hidden gem.
With plenty of zombie thrills for genre fans and a surprising number of catchy songs, Anna and the Apocalypse is a truly unique and enjoyable movie.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
The Grinch story by Dr. Seuss has been adapted many times over the years. The classic animated version remains beloved, and the 2018 animated film is good too, but many still consider the 2000 live-action movie to be the best.
Turning a story like How the Grinch Stole Christmas into a live-action movie can be risky, but it really succeeds thanks to Jim Carrey. He’s genuinely funny as the Grinch, fully committing to the part with both his witty dialogue and impressive physical humor.
What I love most about this movie is how much heart it has. You really see the Grinch change and grow, and the townspeople finally learn to accept him for who he is. It’s one of those Christmas movies I can watch over and over again, and it’s amazing to think it’s been 25 years since it first came out!
