2025 has already brought us some fantastic comedy shows, many of which are award contenders or have gained a dedicated fanbase. Apple TV+’s *The Studio*, with Seth Rogen and Catherine O’Hara, is a good example of the former – think of it as a more realistic *Entourage*, focusing on the actual process of making movies instead of problematic behavior. On the other end of the spectrum is Netflix’s *The Residence*, which sadly was canceled after only one season, disappointing its fans. But this list focuses on the comedy shows with multiple seasons that are truly addictive to watch. These shows premiered from the 90s through the 2010s, and some are still running today.
I have to admit, we’re focusing on proper TV series for this, which means I’m leaving out things like Seth Meyers’ *Corrections* on YouTube. But honestly, you should really check *Corrections* out anyway! If you start from the first episode, it’s unbelievably addictive – I couldn’t stop watching!
10) What We Do in the Shadows — Stream on Hulu

Thanks to its sharp writing, fantastic performances, beautiful sets, and consistently immersive world, *What We Do in the Shadows* is the best TV follow-up to a comedy movie. That’s saying a lot, considering how much people loved Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi’s hilarious 2014 film!
What We Do in the Shadows really expands its universe this season by introducing creatures like sirens, a baby vampire, and wraiths, and it all fits together seamlessly. The show is brilliantly made with a combination of impressive practical effects, incredibly funny acting, and a fantastic connection between the main cast – truly some of the best chemistry on television.
9) Arrested Development — Stream on Netflix

The comedy series *Arrested Development* was famously canceled after just three seasons, initially joining *Freaks and Geeks* as a show cut short before its time. However, Netflix brought it back eight years later, giving fans some additional episodes and a bit more of a conclusion to the story.
The show has its ups and downs. The first two seasons are fantastic, but things get a little shaky after that. Season 3 isn’t as strong, but still has the show’s signature humor and family charm. Season 4 is generally considered a low point, although a re-edited version is slightly better. Season 5 is a step up, but more similar in quality to Season 3 than the excellent first two seasons. If you’re new to the show, it’s perfectly okay to skip Season 4 without missing out on the best parts.
8) Party Down — Stream on Starz

Similar to *Arrested Development*, *Party Down* was canceled despite being a good show. A lack of viewers is often the reason shows get canceled.
Similar to *Arrested Development*, *Party Down* has a dedicated and enthusiastic fanbase. After being off the air for 13 years, it was revived by Starz. However, unlike the *Arrested Development* revival on Netflix, which was largely disappointing, the third season of *Party Down* successfully captures the spirit of the original series. Sadly, this season appears to be a one-time revival rather than a full continuation, but it was a fantastic return and well worth watching all at once.
7) Veep — Stream on HBO Max

With politics being so unpredictable right now, it’s a perfect time to watch *Veep*. HBO has created some truly great shows, and *Veep* is definitely among the best – it might even be their funniest ever.
Armando Iannucci’s show is packed with sharp social commentary, memorable characters, and some of the most brilliantly cutting insults you’ll ever hear on TV or in film. At its heart is Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ incredible performance as Selina Meyer, the former Vice President who becomes President. In this role, she created a character for television that’s even more iconic – and complex – than her famous role as Elaine Benes on *Seinfeld*.
6) Bob’s Burgers — Stream on Hulu

Even from the start, *Bob’s Burgers* has proven to be a show that people of all ages enjoy. While it’s definitely unique and quirky, its broad appeal comes from the loving family at its heart – they genuinely care for each other and want the best for one another. Plus, the voice acting is phenomenal. H. Jon Benjamin is famous for playing Sterling Archer, but many consider his role as Bob Belcher to be his most memorable performance.
With 300 episodes and a feature film under its belt, *Bob’s Burgers* shows no signs of stopping – and that’s great news! The show continues to perform well, and the quality of the writing remains consistently strong. As long as the creators keep delivering those charming and funny musical numbers, fans will continue to tune in. You can currently stream all 15 seasons and *The Bob’s Burgers Movie* on Hulu, which will also be the home for new episodes of Season 16 after they first air on Fox.
5) It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia — Stream on Hulu

After an impressive 17 seasons, *It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia* continues to be a consistently funny show. The talented cast – Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Kaitlin Olson, Glenn Howerton, and Danny DeVito – clearly still have the ability to make their outrageously flawed characters entertaining for many years to come.
It’s understandable why people call *It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia* the “R-rated *Seinfeld*,” but that comparison actually undersells how clever and surprisingly insightful the show can be. While the characters are often flawed and on the wrong side of issues, the show as a whole offers sharp social commentary. *Sunny* is incredibly unrestrained, features brilliant writing and acting, and boasts some truly exceptional episodes – among the best ever made for television.
4) The Office — Stream on Peacock

It’s probably safe to say most people have already watched *The Office* – it’s been incredibly popular for years. But with the recent, positive reception of the spin-off *The Paper*, we felt we had to include this comedic gem.
Really, the show peaks when Michael Scott leaves in Season 7. The seasons after that aren’t essential viewing – many fans find them dull. But you still get seven fantastic seasons to enjoy, all readily available.
3) Twisted Metal — Stream on Peacock

Featuring exciting vehicle combat, lovable and quirky characters, and a blend of the video game’s aesthetic with a strong narrative, *Twisted Metal* is a successful show. Similar to another series on this list, it got even better in its second season.
What really stands out about *Twisted Metal* is its ability to build a surprisingly rich and detailed world from a game series that didn’t have much story to begin with. It creates a fun, over-the-top post-apocalyptic setting full of greed and violence, and it works because the show doesn’t take itself too seriously. The cast, including Stephanie Beatriz and Anthony Carrigan, also deliver great performances.
2) Peacemaker — Stream on HBO Max

Season 1 of *Peacemaker* was excellent, and the new season is even better! Creator James Gunn, John Cena, and the entire team have truly surpassed themselves. However, to fully enjoy *Peacemaker*, you should be prepared for James Gunn’s unique style of humor and storytelling.
James Gunn’s films like *Guardians of the Galaxy* and *Superman* are big, crowd-pleasing superhero movies. While *The Suicide Squad* and *Peacemaker* are a bit more geared towards mature audiences, they’re standouts in the DC universe and suggest the new DCU will be truly unique.
1) South Park — Stream on Paramount+

South Park remains as culturally relevant as ever, and lately it’s been sparking a lot of conversation thanks to its sharp critiques of those in power. Now, all episodes – from the newest season to classic favorites and even the short films – are available in one convenient location, making it easy to binge-watch or revisit your favorite moments.
You can find all 27 seasons of South Park on Paramount+, with only a handful of episodes missing—the same ones that weren’t available on HBO Max. These include “Super Best Friends” from Season 5, Parts 1 & 2 of “Cartoon Wars” from Season 10, and episodes “200” and “201” from Season 14. Everything else—all 328 episodes—is there, along with the full-length movie *South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut*, and the recent specials: “Post COVID,” “The Streaming Wars,” “Joining the Panderverse,” “Not Suitable for Children,” and “The End of Obesity.”
