Voice actors are essential to any great animated project. Their performances, combined with detailed animation, truly bring beloved characters to life. Some voice actors are incredibly talented and versatile, able to portray several different characters within a single show.
Both the Japanese and English dubs of popular anime feature incredibly talented voice actors with instantly recognizable voices. However, the original Japanese voice actors are particularly famous. Most anime fans will immediately know who it is the moment they hear them speak, even if it’s a small part in any show they’re in.
Hunter x Hunter Made Killua’s Voice Actor Famous
Popular voice actress Mariya Ise will be voicing Shizuku Ushio in a new project. However, she’s best known for her work as Killua Zoldyck in Hunter x Hunter, where she brilliantly brought the character’s energetic personality to life.
Before becoming part of the cast, Megumi Ise was a big fan of Hunter x Hunter and had even dressed up as the character Killua at conventions. She’s also voiced other popular characters, including Foo Fighters in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, Ray in The Promised Neverland, and Fujimasa March in Umamusume: Cinderella Grey.
Koki Uchiyama’s Acting Range Is Perfect For Modern Shonen Anime
Koki Uchiyama is a very popular voice actor who appears in many anime. He’s easily recognizable thanks to his memorable performances, especially when voicing villains like Mereum from Hunter x Hunter. But he’s also incredibly versatile, equally capable of playing more ordinary characters, such as Izumi Miyamura from Horimiya.
Even dedicated fans of voice actor Uchiyama could immediately recognize his character, Toge Inumaki, in Jujutsu Kaisen. Inumaki’s unique trait is that he only speaks using the names of onigiri fillings, but Uchiyama’s voice is so recognizable that fans can identify him even when he says just a few words like “tuna” or “kelp.”
Eren Yeager’s Voice Actor Also Plays a Famous MHA Character
Yuki Kaji is well-known for voicing Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan. He was so dedicated to the role that he temporarily lost his voice while recording a particularly intense scene in the fourth season – the argument between Eren and Zeke about the future of the Eldian people.
Yuki Kaji is also well-known for voicing Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia. However, many fans consider his role as Kozume Kenma in Haikyuu to be his most impressive, showcasing his versatility as a voice actor. This is because Kenma is a stark contrast to Eren, a character Kaji voices where strength and a loud delivery are key; Kenma barely speaks above a whisper.
Levi Ackerman & Trafalgar Law Share the Same Voice Actor
I’m a huge fan of Hiroshi Kamiya, and while he doesn’t always play wildly different roles, he always brings so much personality to his characters! He’s incredible at voicing those confident, sarcastic types – it’s why he was such a perfect fit as Ranpo Edogawa in Bungou Stray Dogs. Seriously, the moment he starts voicing a character, you’re just hooked by his charisma!
I’ve noticed Hiroshi Kamiya is really known for voicing characters with a cool, serious edge – like Levi from Attack on Titan and Trafalgar Law from One Piece. But he’s incredibly versatile! He also plays the main character in The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, and it’s amazing how well his timing and deadpan delivery bring Saiki’s quick wit and stoic expression to life. He nails every single joke!
The Apothecary Diaries Perfectly Cast Maomao’s Voice Actor
I always think of Aoi Yuuki’s work as Kaname Madoka in Puella Magi Madoka Magica as a standout role. What really struck me was how much higher her voice was for that character compared to a lot of her other performances – she really hit a different pitch!
Voice actress Aoi Yuuki is known for her versatility. She brought a unique, slightly nasal quality to the voice of Froppy in My Hero Academia, helping to make the character memorable. More recently, she voiced Maomao, and fans of My Hero Academia immediately recognized Yuuki’s signature, softer vocal style in the new role.
My Hero Academia Fans Recognize Bakugo’s Shouting Anywhere
Nobuhiko Okamoto is a voice actor known for his powerful and distinctive screams. While many know him as Katsuki Bakugo from My Hero Academia, he’s also instantly recognizable as the energetic libero, Yuu Nishinoya, from Haikyuu.
Kouki Okamoto voiced Genya Shinazugawa in Demon Slayer. While his intense screams are recognizable in many of his roles, Okamoto truly showcases his vocal range with softer, more intimate performances, like his touching portrayal of Himmel in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
Kenjiro Tsuda Fits Perfectly in JJK & Everywhere Else in Dark Shonen Anime
In 2023, Kenjiro Tsuda received the ViVi National Treasure Class Handsome Voice Actor Award for his portrayal of Kento Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen, solidifying his status as a top voice actor. Tsuda is known for his distinctive, deep voice that conveys a strong sense of authority without needing to be loud.
Kenjiro Tsuda’s voice acting style is particularly effective in characters like Kento Nanami and Kishibe from Chainsaw Man. It also makes his villainous roles, such as Overhaul in My Hero Academia, especially unsettling and engaging. Tsuda is also known for voicing Tatsu in The Way of The Househusband, where his dry delivery, similar to Hiroshi Kamiya’s work in The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, perfectly complements the anime’s quick-witted humor.
One Spy x Family Star Started in Ouran High School Host Club
Anime dubs from the early 2000s weren’t usually known for their quality, but Ouran High School Host Club stood out. Excellent casting, especially Caitlin Glass as the main character Haruhi Fujioka, made it remarkably good for that era.

Caitlin Glass perfectly captured the energetic personality of Haruhi, making viewers who only watched the anime interested in exploring the series further. She’s particularly talented at voicing characters who have a more traditionally masculine energy. Recently, she voiced Damian Desmond in Spy x Family, and many fans immediately recognized her voice. She also brought Mina Ashido to life in the English dub of My Hero Academia.
Satoru Gojo’s Voice Actor Is More Than Just The Strongest Sorcerer
Yuichi Nakamura is a popular voice actor known for bringing beloved anime heroes to life. He’s particularly famous for his role as Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen, which really highlights his talent. Nakamura excels at portraying characters who are confident, powerful, and incredibly charismatic – qualities he frequently showcases in his work.
Yuichi Nakamura consistently delivers outstanding performances, and his roles as Hawks in My Hero Academia and Tetsurou Kuroo in Haikyuu!! are prime examples of his talent. He also gained recognition for voicing Bruno Bucciaratti in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.
Light’s Voice Acting in Death Note Became a Masterpiece
Mamoru Miyano is a voice actor known for his unique style, but he truly transforms with each character he plays. He famously brought Light Yagami from Death Note to life, captivating audiences with the character’s complex and disturbing thoughts in a way that no one else could have.
Mamoru Miyano demonstrated his versatility in Ouran High School Host Club, taking on the charming and charismatic Tamaki Suoh—a stark contrast to his role as Light. He used that same captivating presence to make Tamaki incredibly popular with the female characters. Miyano further highlighted his ability to portray complex characters as Osamu Dazai in Bungou Stray Dogs, skillfully depicting a cheerful and outgoing personality hiding a troubled past.
