It’s tough to find anime that stays consistently good throughout its entire run. Even really popular shows often have dips in quality – maybe with unnecessary filler episodes, weaker animation, or a story that loses steam. This happens a lot with long series like One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach – even dedicated fans admit some parts aren’t as strong. That’s why anime with no truly weak episodes, even those still being made, are so highly valued – they grab your attention and don’t let go.
These anime shows are consistently great – you won’t find yourself wanting to fast-forward through any part of them. They stand out with their high quality, original stories, and characters you’ll remember. Plus, many have fantastic animation! We’ve put together a list of 10 amazing anime series, from lesser-known favorites to popular hits, all guaranteed to be consistently good – not a single bad episode among them.
10) Summer Time Rendering

If you enjoy suspenseful thrillers, don’t miss Summer Time Rendering. This anime is packed with mystery and will keep you hooked. Based on a manga, the 25-episode series tells a complete story without leaving out important details. It follows Shinpei Ajiro, who returns to his hometown for a friend’s funeral and quickly becomes entangled in a series of strange events. The show maintains a consistent and engaging pace throughout.
They said her death was an accident, but I couldn’t shake the feeling something was wrong – the marks on her neck just didn’t fit. Before I knew it, I was caught up in a struggle against some seriously dangerous people, creatures even, who seemed to be connected to what happened to her, to Ushio’s death.
9) Spy x Family

Spy x Family is a remarkably heartwarming anime. Even everyday life with the Forger family is surprisingly eventful. Though it shares elements with action-focused anime, the series primarily centers on the charming and unusual bond between a fake family who are all working towards their own secret objectives. Anya Forger, the six-year-old with telepathic abilities, is arguably the heart of the show, often holding everything together. The story is frequently told through Anya’s eyes, but also explores the perspectives of her adoptive parents, Loid and Yor Forger.
The show also gives interesting side characters, like Nightfall and Franky, moments to shine. Because each episode focuses on a new situation, it’s consistently engaging – there’s always something happening as spies and assassins work to keep the uneasy peace between Ostania and Westalis.
8) Samurai Champloo

While Cowboy Bebop is better known and often considered Shinichirō Watanabe’s masterpiece, Samurai Champloo is equally deserving of praise. The show is structured around individual adventures, with each episode feeling complete while still developing the characters and moving the story forward – a quest to find a mysterious, flower-scented samurai. Even the standalone episodes aren’t just fluff; they add valuable layers to the personalities of the main characters: Mugen, Jin, and Fuu.
This story takes place in a reimagined version of old Japan. A young woman named Fuu hires two very different samurai, Mugen and Jin, to help her. They embark on a journey to find a specific samurai from her past, and their only clue is a unique scent – he smells like sunflowers.
7) Dr. Stone

Dr. Stone is a truly original anime that keeps getting more exciting. The story takes place thousands of years after a mysterious event turned all of humanity to stone, effectively wiping out civilization. Senku Ishigami, a brilliant high school student, wakes up and figures out how to reverse the process. He then works to revive his friends and others, with the ambitious goal of completely rebuilding society from the ground up.
Right from the beginning, when Senku was struggling to survive in a world turned to stone, the anime follows his inventive journey and his drive to reach a larger ambition. Each new creation brings Senku and his Kingdom of Science closer to their goal. What makes the show interesting is that it clearly explains the science behind everything Senku builds from the ground up.
6) Natsume’s Book of Friends

Despite not being hugely popular, Natsume’s Book of Friends is often called one of the most underrated anime ever made. It’s different from shows packed with action or complicated plots; instead, it’s known for being gentle, heartwarming, and sometimes a little sad, as it explores the touching connections between people and spirits. Even after seven seasons, the anime remains consistently beautiful and emotionally resonant, with every scene feeling special and meaningful.
This anime takes place in a beautiful, rural Japan with lots of forests and ancient shrines. It’s a story about learning to accept the past and building new relationships, seen through the eyes of the main character and his encounters with spirits called Yokai. The story centers on Takashi Natsume, who struggles to find acceptance because he can see Yokai. His life improves when he moves to the countryside with a new family and discovers his grandmother’s mysterious Book of Friends, which has a unique power.
5) Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan is incredibly captivating and easy to get hooked on, with a story that consistently builds excitement as its secrets are revealed. From its distinctive world to its heartbreaking moments, the series keeps you wanting more. The animation quality, initially praised for the first three seasons by WIT Studio, continued to improve when MAPPA took over from Season 4. Now that the series has ended, it’s left a lasting impact on viewers, evoking a mix of sadness, satisfaction, and a sense of completion.
The series centers on Eren Yeager and his vow to eliminate all titans, the terrifying creatures that have threatened humanity for generations. But as Eren pursues his goal, he uncovers shocking secrets about his own history, making the story increasingly captivating.
4) Delicious in Dungeon

Ryoko Kui’s popular manga, Delicious in Dungeon, is unique because it explores what life is like inside a dungeon, and focuses on the characters surviving by cooking and eating monsters. The anime adaptation is excellent in every way – from its detailed world to its engaging characters. The first season covered a significant portion of the manga – 52 chapters – across 24 episodes, and every scene is captivating.
A second season is currently being made, and it could be the last. The original manga has 97 chapters, and if the new season has the same number of episodes as the first, the story will likely conclude with this installment. The season continues to follow Laios Touden and his friends as they travel through the dungeon to find his sister, Falin, who bravely put herself in danger to save everyone.
3) The Apothecary Diaries

This series has everything a viewer could want: a captivating historical setting, a sweet romance, compelling female characters, and an intriguing medical mystery, all centered around a brilliant and endearing main character. Adapted from Natsu Hyuuga’s novels, it currently has two seasons available, with a third season and a standalone movie on the way. Fans particularly praise the show’s well-developed characters, especially the noblewomen who navigate a restrictive society with strength and determination.
The stories reveal the hidden darkness within their world. Maomao, a remarkably skilled apothecary, is unexpectedly kidnapped and forced into service at the Rear Palace, where she attempts to remain unnoticed. However, she eventually catches the attention of Jinshi, the powerful eunuch in charge of the palace, who begins to rely on her expertise to solve difficult and complicated problems.
2) Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

When the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End first came out, it quickly became incredibly popular. This is largely thanks to its distinctive, bittersweet story and the stunning animation produced by Madhouse. The series starts after a grand adventure has already finished, and follows Frieren as she assembles a new team and revisits familiar locations with a fresh purpose. What makes the story so compelling is how it seamlessly blends current events with memories from the past, presenting both timelines together.
Rather than telling the story chronologically, the anime shows flashbacks to Frieren’s adventures with Himmel’s group. These glimpses aren’t just emotionally resonant; they also influence what Frieren does now. This storytelling technique beautifully conveys the feeling of time passing, creating a poignant and bittersweet experience for viewers.
1) Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

This new version of the classic anime closely follows the original manga and tells the complete story in 64 episodes, moving the plot forward consistently. Before Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End came out, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was the top-rated anime on MyAnimeList for many years. It briefly dropped in the rankings, but quickly regained its position.
This captivating story delves into the difficult subjects of war and what it means to be human, all while keeping you engaged with humor and well-developed characters. It centers around two brothers who face severe consequences for breaking a major rule in the world of alchemy. They set out on a quest to fix their mistake by searching for the fabled philosopher’s stone, but the truth they uncover proves to be overwhelming.
