Okay, let me tell you, 2025 was a weird year for Marvel. For the first time in ages, DC actually outsold them consistently, which was a shocker. We saw the end of the Ultimate line, which, while successful, felt like a natural conclusion. But the biggest surprise? The Amazing Spider-Man finally started hitting all the right notes with fans! Beyond that, the classic heroes – Fantastic Four, Thor, Cap, and Hulk – all had incredible runs. The X-Men kept things interesting with two storylines clearly inspired by ‘Age of Apocalypse’. Honestly, being a Marvel reader this year was a rollercoaster, but a really good one. We got some truly epic moments, and it’s clear the best talent in the industry was involved.
As 2025 comes to a close, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next for Marvel’s characters. With recent books being so well-received, the publisher has exciting plans for heroes and villains in 2026. Here are 10 Marvel series to look forward to next year that are sure to please!
10) Ultimate Wolverine

The Ultimate line of comics will be concluding in early 2026, but Ultimate Wolverine is still going strong. It’s currently the best Wolverine series available, and despite some differing fan opinions, it’s expected to be central to the finale of the Ultimate Universe. The story follows Wolverine and Jean Grey as they evade Magik, with the added threat of the Maker’s return. Writer Chris Condon has crafted a compelling narrative, and it promises to be a satisfying conclusion brought to life by artists Alessandro Cappuccio and Alex Lins.
9) Wade Wilson: Deadpool

Recent Deadpool comics haven’t been very successful, but things are looking brighter with the upcoming series, Wade Wilson: Deadpool, launching in 2026. The series is written by Benjamin Percy, who fans know for his excellent work with characters like Wolverine and X-Force. Percy excels at writing grittier Marvel heroes, and readers are excited to see his take on Deadpool. He’s teaming up with artist Geoff Shaw, known for dynamic action sequences in books like Wolverine, Ghost Rider, and Red Hulk. This new series promises to be fantastic and could restore Deadpool’s status as a leading solo character.
8) Imperial Guardians #1

As a huge Marvel fan, I’ve always loved their cosmic stories, and things are really exciting again with this new Imperial series. It feels like a fresh start for the universe’s power players, with a new team of guardians stepping up. Imperial Guardians brings together some fantastic characters – Gamora, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Brawn, Captain Marvel, and Darkhawk – all trying to bring some much-needed peace to a galaxy that’s been through a lot. But what really has me hyped is the writer, Dan Abnett. He and Andy Lanning basically perfected the Guardians of the Galaxy run back in the mid-2000s, and it’s brilliant to see him back in this cosmic space. I have a feeling this series is going to be something special.
7) Uncanny X-Men

The Uncanny X-Men comic has been particularly strong, thanks to the talented creative team of Gail Simone and David Marquez, along with artists like Javier Garron and Luciano Vecchio. They’ve captured the classic feel of the original X-Men stories, featuring a fantastic lineup of both well-known heroes – Rogue, Gambit, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Jubilee – and exciting new mutants – Deathdream, Jitter, Ransom, and Calico. The comic is expected to continue this success in 2026. It’s currently Marvel’s best team-based book, expertly blending compelling characters, an engaging plot, and beautiful artwork, making it a consistently captivating read. It’s a near-perfect series that deserves a wider audience.
6) Ultimate Endgame

The first issue of Ultimate Endgame is out, and while it didn’t completely win me over, it’s still a hugely important book for Marvel, especially heading into 2026. The Ultimate series have been incredibly popular, and this is the final story arc, pitting Earth-6160’s heroes against the Maker, who’s made a surprising move (I won’t give it away!). The artwork by Jonas Scharf, Terry Dodson, and Rachel Dodson is fantastic, and Deniz Camp is doing some of the best writing of his career. Despite my initial reservations, I’m still really excited about where this is going. If you’ve been following the Ultimate books, you definitely need to check this one out.
5) Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon

As a big Wolverine fan, I’ll say 2025 hasn’t been the strongest year for the character. It hasn’t been bad, but it hasn’t reached the heights we’ve seen since his return in 2019. Luckily, there’s a promising new series on the horizon: Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon, from writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Luca Maresca. This series pits Wolverine against the villain Nuke and will have significant consequences for the entire Marvel Universe, leading into the upcoming Armageddon event. Zdarsky is consistently one of Marvel’s best writers, and having him take on Wolverine is fantastic – he rarely disappoints, and this book looks to be another success.
4)Infernal Hulk

Both issues of The Infernal Hulk have been fantastic, continuing the story begun in The Incredible Hulk by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein. A terrifying, Lovecraftian entity called the Eldest has possessed the Hulk and intends to obliterate the universe. With Bruce Banner missing, he’s the only one who can stop it. This series delivers the intense, monster-smashing action Hulk fans crave, showcasing the possessed Hulk as an unstoppable force. Nic Klein’s artwork is stunning, and the book perfectly captures what makes the Hulk so compelling: desperate battles against overwhelming monsters. It’s a truly captivating read.
3) Iron Man

Iron Man hasn’t been a big hit in comic book sales, despite being incredibly popular in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, things are looking brighter for the character in 2026. Writer Joshua Williamson, who’s recently had success at DC Comics, is taking over the Iron Man title, with artist Carmen Carnero – known for her excellent work on Captain America and Exceptional X-Men. The new series will feature classic Iron Man villains and allies like Madame Masque, Citizen V, and War Machine, and could be exactly what the character needs to boost sales.
2) The Mortal Thor

Since 2023, Al Ewing’s run on Thor has consistently delivered exceptional comics. Both The Immortal Thor and its follow-up, The Mortal Thor, are beautifully crafted series, and the creative team of Ewing and artist Pascual Ferry continue to impress. Each issue builds seamlessly on the last, creating a complex and surprising narrative. The Immortal Thor felt like a classic mythological tale, while The Mortal Thor feels refreshingly modern – a perfect fit for the character. It’s a truly fantastic series, and if you’re not reading it now, you should start as soon as possible.
1) Captain America (Vol. 14)

Chip Zdarsky and Valerio Schiti’s Captain America (Vol. 14) is a fantastic comic that revisits the classic story of Captain America’s return after being frozen, while also introducing a new character, David Colton – a super-soldier created after 9/11 who temporarily took on the role of Captain America. The first story arc was exceptional, with strong writing and art that offered insightful commentary on America – a topic Captain America consistently handles well. The comic promises to continue this quality into 2026, and will even lead into the Armageddon event, making it a crucial read. This is arguably the best Captain America has been since Ed Brubaker’s run, and it has the potential to surpass it.
