10 MCU Characters Introduced Since Endgame Powerful Enough to Use the Infinity Stones (Some Could Even Beat Thanos)

Since Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced a lot of new heroes and villains who are incredibly powerful – potentially even strong enough to defeat Thanos and control the Infinity Stones. During the Multiverse Saga, Marvel Studios has really broadened the scope of the MCU, showcasing dozens of new characters who are among the most formidable and powerful the franchise has ever seen. These new additions have drastically changed the power dynamics within the MCU, with several of them demonstrating the ability to survive the immense energy of all the Infinity Stones.

As a huge MCU fan, I remember how central the Infinity Stones were to the whole Infinity Saga – they were basically everything Thanos wanted! He managed to gather all six in Avengers: Infinity War and, well, you know what happened – he snapped half of all life away. Then, five years later, the Avengers finally reversed it and defeated him, using the Stones themselves. But honestly, thinking about the newer characters the MCU is introducing, I can’t help but wonder if some of them might actually be more powerful than Thanos. It makes me think, if the Infinity Stones ever reappear in the live-action universe, who could wield them and what would they do? It’s a really exciting thought! I’m already speculating!

10) Adam Warlock

Introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Adam Warlock (played by Will Poulter) is just starting out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is still learning about his incredible abilities. Adam has the possibility of becoming one of the most powerful beings in the MCU – perhaps the most powerful – and when he fully masters his cosmic powers, he might even be able to handle the energy of all six Infinity Stones. Joining the new Guardians of the Galaxy team in 2023, fans are eager to see him return and grow even stronger in future MCU installments.

9) Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor

During the discussion in Avengers: Endgame about who could handle the Infinity Gauntlet to restore everyone, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) volunteered. Because of his divine strength and the powerful energy within him, he likely could have withstood the Infinity Stones. This suggests that Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman) would also be capable of using them. Foster has been part of the MCU since 2011, but she only gained superpowers as Mighty Thor after lifting Mjolnir in Thor: Love and Thunder, and there’s still a possibility she could reappear even after her death.

8) Hercules

Given that Thor and his more powerful form, the Mighty Thor, have demonstrated the ability to handle the Infinity Stones, it’s reasonable to assume other gods within the Marvel Cinematic Universe could as well. This definitely includes the Greek god Hercules (played by Brett Goldstein), who first appeared in a post-credits scene from Thor: Love and Thunder. While Hercules has been hinted at as a future opponent for Thor, possibly in a potential Thor 5, he hasn’t returned yet, so we haven’t seen the full extent of his abilities. However, he’s consistently portrayed as one of the strongest beings in Marvel Comics, suggesting he would likely be capable of wielding the Infinity Stones.

7) The Eternals

The Eternals are considered some of the strongest and most unique characters in the Marvel Universe, and it’s clear any of them could wield the Infinity Stones. The new Marvel Zombies series showcased Ikaris in a continuous fight with a zombie version of Captain Marvel, demonstrating just how powerful the Eternals are. Because they are artificial beings, the Infinity Stones likely wouldn’t affect the Eternals physically the way they would a living creature. Plus, their connection to the cosmic energy of the Celestials already gives them nearly unlimited power within themselves.

6) G’iah

Despite the fact that Secret Invasion was one of the lowest-rated projects in the MCU and faced a lot of criticism, the show did give us one of the most powerful new characters in the universe. G’iah, a Skrull and the daughter of Talos (played by Emilia Clarke and Ben Mendelsohn respectively), became the Super Skrull after taking in the DNA and powers of numerous MCU heroes. This included abilities from characters like the Hulk, Captain Marvel, Thanos, and Captain America, among others. Because of all the DNA she absorbed, the energy from the Infinity Stones shouldn’t really affect her.

5) Mephisto

Following years of anticipation and speculation, Mephisto (Sacha Baron Cohen) officially appeared in the MCU through Ironheart. He was presented as the financial supporter of Parker Robbins, also known as the Hood (Anthony Ramos), and a potential, though uncertain, partner to Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne). However, Marvel has only begun to reveal the extent of Mephisto’s immense power. In Marvel Comics, Mephisto is the sovereign of Hell and one of the most powerful and seemingly invincible villains in the universe. This suggests his origins and extraordinary abilities are strong enough to resist even the Infinity Stones – though Mephisto himself may view these artifacts as insignificant.

4) Jennifer Walters’ She-Hulk & Other Hulks

In Avengers: Endgame, it was Bruce Banner’s Smart Hulk who successfully used the fully completed Infinity Gauntlet to restore the trillions of people Thanos had eliminated five years earlier. While using the Gauntlet injured his arm, he was able to briefly harness the power of the Infinity Stones because their energy is primarily gamma radiation – the same type of radiation that flows through his blood. This implies that other characters exposed to gamma radiation, like Banner’s cousin Jennifer Walters, also known as She-Hulk (played by Tatiana Maslany), could potentially wield the Infinity Stones, though it’s currently unknown if she will return to the MCU.

3) Robert Reynolds’ Sentry

Robert Reynolds (Lewis Pullman) gained incredible power – equivalent to a thousand exploding suns – becoming a major new hero in the MCU with Thunderbolts* as the Sentry. However, using his powers currently brings forth the Void, a dangerous dark side of himself that could trap people in New York within their most terrifying fears. Despite this, Reynolds’ immense strength as the Sentry suggests he’s certainly capable of handling the Infinity Stones, and this might happen when Pullman returns to the role in future MCU projects.

2) Death

Only a handful of characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe truly represent fundamental forces, but Death, played by Aubrey Plaza in Agatha All Along, is definitely one of them. Being the very first Green Witch, Death’s power within the MCU is essentially limitless, meaning she could easily obtain, wield, and utilize the Infinity Stones – though they might appear trivial to her. Death is one of the most compelling new characters introduced to the MCU, possessing the ability to defeat anyone – she simply refrained from using her full power against Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) due to their connection – and it would be fantastic to see her reappear.

1) Franklin Richards

A recent and incredibly powerful addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Franklin Richards. He was introduced in The Fantastic Four: First Steps as the child of Reed Richards (played by Pedro Pascal) and Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby). First Steps, taking place in the 828 Universe, established that Franklin possesses the Power Cosmic, granting him extraordinary and unpredictable abilities. This power will be fascinating to see unfold in future MCU stories. Essentially, he has the potential of the Infinity Stones within him, but doesn’t need to wield them, making Franklin a truly exciting new hero for the MCU.
