The first season of Solo Leveling lived up to expectations, pleasing fans who had eagerly anticipated its anime adaptation. With sharp animation and swift action sequences, it remained faithful to the original manhwa. By the end of Season 1, viewers were anxiously anticipating the next season due to its promises of exciting battles and further character development. This season wasn’t solely about leveling up; instead, it explored the repercussions and looming dangers that haunted the hunter world.
Previously, Jinwoo was depicted as battling and progressing solo. However, upon acquiring the title Necromancer, he was no longer fighting alone – a contingent of undead shadows were now perpetually at his disposal, altering the fundamental dynamic of the series. In Season 2, Jinwoo’s strength grew exponentially, as did his accomplishments and friendships, even in unconventional trust-worthy environments. This season delved into some of Jinwoo’s most poignant moments, presented darker subject matter, and featured intense conflicts with cunning beasts rather than mere mindless creatures. Let’s now review some of the top moments from Solo Leveling Season 2, highlighting what makes them exceptional.
10) Using Kim Chul as a Shadow

Jinwoo, once known as the weakest human hunter, has significantly improved, yet remains cautious about taking human lives. However, during an attack by the White Tiger Guild on a Red Gate, with the team cornered, Jinwoo was compelled to employ his intelligence and strength to rescue his surviving comrades.
In this confrontation with Baruka, the Ice Elf, Jinwoo was struggling to match his nimbleness. His soldiers, shaped like shadows, were engaged in combat against other Ice Elves, leaving Baruka free to evade Jinwoo’s attacks. Meanwhile, Kim Chul, leader of the assault squad, felt enraged towards Jinwoo and charged at him with full force. However, unbeknownst to Kim Chul, Jinwoo would eventually slay him and transform him into a shadow soldier, using this new ally to vanquish Baruka.
9) Sung Ilhwan Attacks Hwang Dongsoo

Among anime fans who haven’t read the manga, one surprising moment was learning that Jinwoo’s father is actually Sung Ilhwan. Throughout the series, Jinwoo had only been depicted with a mother and sister, but there was no mention of his father. When a wild-looking man was discovered within a US gate, viewers were taken aback to find out later that he was none other than Jinwoo’s long-lost father.
In a dramatic turn of events, the true pinnacle of triumph unfolded during an intense interrogation scene between Hwang Dongsoo, a top-tier hunter, and Sung Ilhwan. It’s worth mentioning that Dongsoo shares a tragic connection with another man named Hwang Dongsuk, who had been killed by Jinwoo. This past trauma fueled Dongsoo’s bitter animosity towards Jinwoo, leading him to mock Ihwan’s family in front of him and falsely claim that his son had perished. Regrettably, the ensuing altercation was not depicted on screen, but it seemed clear that Ilhwan emerged victorious and managed to flee prison, leaving Dongsoo severely injured and later hospitalized.
8) Manager Woo and Cha Hae-in’s Surprise

For some time, Jinwoo skillfully concealed his real identity from others. Even during raids, he requested his companions to maintain secrecy about his abilities. However, the situation suddenly escalated when what was supposed to be an A-rank dungeon transformed into something nearly S-rank, forcing Cha Hae-in to step in.
At first, Jinwoo seemed to be just a regular porter. However, when he noticed his companions struggling against the powerful boss Kargalgan, he revealed hidden talents and called upon his shadow troops. Without prior knowledge, Cha and Manager Woo had arrived to aid the strike team independently. As they watched Jinwoo display his fighting prowess, both were left astounded. This awe later transformed into utter shock when the battle concluded, and Jinwoo rescued the High Orcs. The reactions of the two hunters in that moment made it one of the most memorable scenes of the season.
7) Esil’s Distraction Against Baran

Ascending the 100-story demon fortress was no ordinary achievement for me; it required numerous days spent battling a variety of demons with my trusty shadow troops by my side. Yet, I found myself halted around the 80th level. That’s when I made an unexpected alliance with Esil, the princess from the Radiru demon clan, and pressed onward.
On reaching the 100th floor, Jinwoo asked Esil to head home, but she was determined to assist him in achieving his objectives. And indeed, she proved to be correct. In a critical moment when Jinwoo was battling Baran and appeared to be on the receiving end of a lethal strike, Esil intervened by throwing her sword, thereby momentarily diverting Baran’s attention. This interruption allowed Jinwoo to regain control of the situation and launch an aggressive attack against Baran. Without Esil’s intervention, Jinwoo might not have survived.
Jinwoo asked Esil to go home when they reached the 100th floor, but she refused, wanting to help him succeed. This decision proved wise when they faced Baran. When it looked like Jinwoo was about to lose, Esil threw her sword, making Baran pause. This gave Jinwoo an opportunity to turn the tide and attack Baran fiercely. Without Esil’s help, Jinwoo might not have lived.
6) Jinwoo’s Mother’s Awakening

Initially, Jinwoo aimed to support his family by earning enough money. However, this plan altered dramatically when he discovered the Elixir of Life. Given that his mother has been in a coma-like state called Eternal Sleep for the past four years, Jinwoo felt hopeful that this elixir could revive her.
In a determined fashion, Jinwoo focused all his efforts on building up his strength to overcome the Demon Castle. This wasn’t just a challenge, it was a significant hurdle, but Jinwoo managed to accomplish it and collected the necessary components for the Elixir. Upon administering this elixir to his mother, she miraculously awoke in perfect health, even her old scar disappeared instantly. The moment of her awakening and conversation with Jinwoo was heartwarming as we witnessed Jinwoo visibly emotional, shedding tears for the first time. This emotional scene also moved Jinah to tears.
5) Jinwoo – The 10th S-Rank Hunter

Jinwoo was notoriously known as the “least powerful human hunter,” due to his low mana score of only 10, making him weaker than most E-rank hunters. Yet, a dramatic turn in events unfolded for Jinwoo when a System mandated regular level-ups.
Following his victory against Kargalgan with both Manager Woo and Hunter Cha present, it was due time for Jinwoo’s assessment to be repeated. Unsurprisingly, this evaluation uncovered an inaccuracy that necessitated Chairman Go’s personal review. Upon receiving the prestigious S-rank hunter designation, the media erupted with excitement. Even other esteemed S-rank hunters like Choi and Baek were left astounded by Jinwoo’s talents.
4) S-rank Hunters Brawl

On Jeju Island, there had been an infestation of giant mutant ants for quite some time. When it was discovered that these creatures had developed wings and were causing disruptions not only on the island but also in Japan, Chairman Go authorized a fourth operation to eradicate them from Jeju Island. In order to ensure the success of this mission, the South Korean Hunter Association appealed for assistance from Japanese hunters, resulting in ten elite S-rank hunters from Japan traveling to South Korea.
At the Hunters Association headquarters, Goto Ryuji proposed an open, free-form sparring competition involving top-tier hunters from the two nations. Instead of individual battles, it turned out to be a wild melee. Hunter Baek went head-to-head with Kumamoto, who was terrifying, while Ma and Lim faced off against Tanaka and Hoshino respectively; however, they all ended up losing. In contrast, Hunter Cha demonstrated her elegant skills against Tawata and emerged victorious. However, Kumamoto grew enraged and launched a series of brutal attacks, prompting Jinwoo to intervene. Later in the event, Goto attempted to challenge Jinwoo’s abilities, but their colleagues stepped in to prevent it from escalating further.
3) Cha Hae-in Killing the Ant Queen

In the second season of “Solo Leveling,” there was an instance where Jinwoo wasn’t involved in the action. Since Jinwoo chose to stay off the Jeju Island raid to be with his family, it was only the top-tier hunters from South Korea who ventured into the ant’s nest. This journey showcased some remarkable teamwork and camaraderie that one might expect from an anime.
I, an onlooker, witnessed a remarkable event unfold deep within the ant’s nest. Hunters Cha, Baek, Lim, Ma, and Byung Gu displayed their expertise in unison, skillfully repelling the formidable commander ants. Then, with an opportune moment presenting itself, Hunter Cha took center stage and swiftly ended the life of the Ant Queen with her sword. Her movements were nothing short of graceful, a testament to her well-deserved nickname – Cha the dancer.
2) Jinwoo’s Use of “Exchange”

After his mother woke up from her long slumber, Jinwoo found himself yearning for nothing more than to reconnect with his loved ones. For this reason, he decided against participating in the 4th Jeju Island Raid. Yet, as a safety measure, he bound four of his shadow soldiers alongside four top-tier hunters. This move turned out to be quite beneficial.
Unnoticed by the colossal Ant King, Japanese S-rank hunters blundered into a fatal plunge. Meanwhile, their South Korean counterparts managed to kill the Ant Queen at great cost – Hunter Cha was gravely injured, and their team healer, Byung Gu, tragically became a meal for the Ant King. The odds seemed dire until Jinwoo stepped in heroically. He sacrificed one of his shadow soldiers tethered to him, enabling everyone’s healing, and bravely confronted the Ant King personally.
1) Defeating and Raising Ant King Beru as a Shadow

In simple terms, the confrontation between Jinwoo and the Ant King stands out as an exceptional fight within the anime series, given the high risks involved and the formidable strength of the Ant King. Despite the odds being heavily against him, Jinwoo persevered, harnessing all his might to defeat the Ant King in a spectacular, climactic battle.
Instead, Jinwoo found it a pity to let such a formidable adversary as the Ant King perish permanently. In true Necromancer fashion, he resurrected the Ant King’s spirit and named him Beru. Grateful for his revival, Beru pledged allegiance to Jinwoo and assisted him in eliminating the remaining ants that were swarming above Jeju Island.
