10 Most Brutal Deaths in Marvel TV Shows

Being a superhero often involves significant dangers, as there’s always a menacing villain with a twisted ambition lurking around, eager to cause chaos and destruction. These villains have nothing left to lose because they don’t value innocent lives, so heroes are constantly forced to act with restraint, even when their hands are metaphorically tied behind their backs. Regrettably, despite their best efforts, it can be challenging for heroes to save everyone, particularly in the Marvel Universe where every step could lead to a conflict that has the world’s future hanging in the balance.

In Marvel films, there are instances of ruthless killings like Thanos choking Loki to death in “Avengers: Infinity War” and Scarlet Witch silencing Black Bolt in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”. However, the television division takes it a step further. Here are the 10 most gruesome deaths seen on Marvel TV series.

1) Gambit’s Sacrifice (X-Men ’97)

In the fifth episode of X-Men ’97, the advanced robots known as Sentinels launch an assault on Genosha, an island nation. This attack sends the X-Men into a frenzy as they try to respond. However, the Sentinels prove too powerful for the mutants, resulting in numerous casualties. As Magneto seems to be the next to succumb, Rogue attempts to take down the lead Sentinel, but is halted when she’s struck by Gambit’s motorcycle. Determined to save his teammates, Gambit channels his mutant powers and explodes the Sentinel, but at the cost of severe injuries to himself.

2) Wilson Fisk Gets Rid of Commissioner Gallo (Daredevil: Born Again)

In the story “Daredevil: Born Again,” as Wilson Fisk amasses power, New York City’s valiant public officials resist. Police Commissioner Gallo strongly disapproves of the new mayor’s actions, leading him to devise a plan for a hostile takeover of his position. However, Fisk becomes aware of Gallo’s scheme and manipulates him into going to a building housing dissident police officers. Tragically, these officers witness as Fisk brutally crushes Gallo’s skull instead.

3) Frank Castle Get His Final Revenge (The Punisher)

For much of his stint on Netflix, Frank Castle primarily seeks to uncover the individuals behind the demise of his family. This investigation eventually points him towards William Rawlins, a former CIA Operations Director. In ‘The Punisher’, Rawlins gains an advantage, but he overlooks his captor’s determination, enabling Frank to escape, stab him with a knife, and ultimately gouge out his eyes.

4) John Walker Loses Control (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier)

In the series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” John Walker is chosen to become the new Captain America. However, he struggles and often loses battles against the group known as the Flag Smashers. This leads him to make a rash decision and use the Super-Soldier Serum. During another encounter with them, his friend Battlestar is killed, causing him great distress. In a heated moment, Captain America uses his shield to brutally attack one of the Flag Smashers, Nico, in front of a crowd, leaving him severely injured.

5) Fisk Closes the Car Door (Daredevil)

Kingpin values his criminal empire less than he does Vanessa. In the first season of Daredevil, during a date with Vanessa, Kingpin is interrupted by Russian mobster Anatoly Ranskahov for business talks. This interruption displeased Kingpin, leading him to take Anatoly outside and violently shut a car door on his head until Anatoly was no longer recognizable.

6) Hulk Grows Too Big for His Britches (What If…?)

In the animated show “What If…?”, we delve into various alternate realities within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not all of which are filled with bright skies and happy times. An intriguing episode unfolds when a disturbed Hank Pym embarks on a mission to track down the Avengers. His initial focus is on Bruce Banner, whom he manipulates in such a way that his alter ego, the Hulk, undergoes an unprecedented growth spurt and eventually implodes due to being too massive.

7) Maria Hill Falls for the Trap (Secret Invasion)

In the comic series “Secret Invasion,” Maria Hill’s death is particularly distressing not just due to physical pain but also because of the psychological toll. Disguised as Nick Fury, the Skrull Gravik manages to trick Hill and shoots her. For a brief moment, she believes that her mentor is responsible for her demise, which makes her death all the more heart-wrenching.

8) White Tiger Barks Up the Wrong Tree (Daredevil: Born Again)

As a diehard movie buff, I can’t help but delve into the captivating tale of Matt Murdock, who, for a brief while at the onset of “Born Again”, relinquished his Daredevil identity. Yet, his commitment to serving his community remained steadfast. In an intriguing turn of events, Matt decided to defend Hector Ayala, a man falsely accused of killing a police officer. With relentless determination, Matt managed to sway the jury, resulting in a not-guilty verdict. Post his acquittal, Hector reemerged as the street’s vigilante known as White Tiger. However, the authorities, taking the court decision personally, staged a crime and subsequently shot White Tiger in the head.

9) Ben Urich Follows Fisk Too Closely (Daredevil)

It’s evident from other Kingpin instances that he dislikes feeling threatened. In this case, investigative journalist Ben Urich delves into Fisk’s business dealings, which places him right in the middle of danger. During their conversation at Ben’s office, Fisk and the reporter converse for a while before an outburst of anger leads Fisk to strangle the reporter to death.

10) Najma Opens the Wrong Door (Ms. Marvel)

In the comic series “Ms. Marvel,” Kamala Khan encounters a mysterious group known as the Clandestines, hailing from another dimension who yearn to return home. Their leader, Najma, is somewhat ruthless, urging Kamala to employ her bangles to create a gateway. However, when the portal materializes, it inexplicably begins evaporating individuals, including Najma, transforming them into mere skeletons within a fraction of a second.
