The results of the recent Chainsaw Man popularity poll are in after months of voting! While some placements were predictable, many characters – both old favorites and newcomers – landed in surprising spots. The top 10 characters, in particular, deserve a closer look.
10) Asa Mitaka
Asa Mitaka is a major character in Chainsaw Man, starting in part two. She was killed by a Devil but brought back to life when the War Devil, Yoru, possessed her. Asa wants revenge on Chainsaw Man, but her developing feelings for Denji constantly create problems.
Asa is a popular character in Chainsaw Man, largely because she’s relatable and struggles with feeling good about herself, despite her sometimes awkward personality. Even with limited screen time after the beginning of the story, Pochita consistently stands out, whether as a cute mascot or a frightening yet endearing monster. It’s no surprise he’s consistently ranked ninth in popularity polls – it suits his character perfectly.
8) Hirofumi Yoshida
Hirofumi Yoshida is an important character in Chainsaw Man. He first appears in part 1 as a Devil Hunter hired to keep Denji safe from attackers. Later, in part 2, he becomes Denji’s classmate and his only connection to the Public Safety organization, though this connection isn’t always helpful.
Despite not getting enough development before his unexpected death, Yoshida was a fantastic contrast to Denji and consistently entertaining. He proved popular with fans, finishing in eighth place in the official poll, and remains a memorable character even after his passing.
7) Beam
Beam is a powerful Fiend who works for Makima at Public Safety. He’s incredibly loyal to Pochita, remembering their battles together as the Hero of Hell. Despite sometimes frustrating Denji, Beam consistently proves to be one of his most reliable and strongest allies.
Beam consistently brought a welcome sense of humor to the series, and the movie, Chainsaw Man: The Movie — Reze Arc, really highlighted his powers and personality, showcasing just how enjoyable he is as a character. This is probably why he ranked seventh in the fan poll, and it’s fantastic to see, even considering fans might be favoring more recent content.
6) Angel
Angel, appropriately named the Angel Fiend, is another person manipulated by Makima. He started as self-centered and idle, but genuinely befriended Aki. Sadly, even this friendship couldn’t save him from becoming a pawn in Makima’s plan for Denji.
Angel has always been a popular character in Chainsaw Man, thanks to his kind relationship with Aki and a surprisingly complex past. The recent Chainsaw Man movie boosted his popularity even further, and he ultimately ranked sixth in fan polls.
5) Power
Power is a major character in Chainsaw Man, known as the Blood Fiend. She’s the first partner Denji has after joining the Public Safety Bureau. Even though Power is often selfish and acts like a child, she and Denji become very close, forming one of the most important relationships in the story for Denji.
Power is a wildly entertaining character thanks to her bold and unpredictable personality. As she grows closer to Denji and becomes one of his true friends, she’s both funny and surprisingly touching. Her recent ranking as the fifth most popular character in Chainsaw Man proves how much fans are hoping to see her again.
4) Denji
Denji is the central character in Chainsaw Man. He goes from a life of poverty and illness to a fresh start when he becomes a professional Devil Hunter, using his unique powers as Chainsaw Man. However, he quickly realizes this new life isn’t quite the dream he imagined.
Denji’s simple-mindedness could be irritating, but it’s often hilarious. Combined with his difficult past and unpredictable personality, he’s become a remarkably entertaining and complex hero in today’s anime. Even though he finished fourth in the poll, that doesn’t diminish how lovable he is as a main character.
3) Aki Hayakawa
When Denji started working at the Public Safety Bureau, Aki Hayakawa was assigned to guide him. Initially, Aki saw taking care of Denji and Power as just a job, but they soon became like a family to him. Protecting them even became more important than his long-held goal of defeating the Gun Devil.
Aki is a remarkably well-developed character in Chainsaw Man, making him both endearing and deeply tragic. His death remains one of the most emotionally impactful moments in the series. Finishing in third place proves his lasting popularity, and he’s sure to stay a fan favorite for a long time.
2) Makima
Makima is the main villain of the story. From the beginning, the series suggested she wasn’t as nice as she seemed, and it’s eventually revealed that she’s actually the Control Devil. She’s been using Denji, hoping to take control of Pochita and achieve her goal of dominating the world.
Makima is a standout character in Chainsaw Man, even before we learn how cruel she truly is.
