Marvel’s cosmic characters are the most powerful and enigmatic beings in the universe. They control fundamental forces like creation and destruction, impacting entire galaxies and the destinies of planets. Often acting without feeling or preference, they’re beyond even gods and heroes – more like natural, unstoppable forces than individual people.
These beings usually stay out of things, but when they intervene, the entire universe notices. They serve as a reminder that the Marvel universe hinges on a delicate balance.
10. Galactus

Galactus, known as the Devourer of Worlds, plays a vital role in the universe’s balance by consuming planets. This isn’t simply about being greedy; it’s a necessary function of who he is, as he’s a survivor from a past universe. Though he destroys worlds, Galactus isn’t inherently evil – he’s a fundamental force that helps maintain cosmic order.
Galactus isn’t just incredibly strong; he possesses the Power Cosmic, which gives him complete control over everything – matter, energy, and life. His messengers, like the Silver Surfer, use pieces of this power to travel across galaxies. Depending on the story, Galactus can become almost all-powerful, able to challenge even the most powerful beings in the universe when he’s truly threatened.
9. The Celestials

The Celestials are immense, powerful beings who have guided the development of life throughout the universe, including humans. They’ve conducted experiments that created many different species and hold the power to decide whether entire planets live or die, often seeming cold and distant while doing so. Their scale and influence are far greater than those of even well-known gods like those from Asgard or Olympus.
Their power comes from working together with a shared goal. Each Celestial is incredibly strong on their own, but united, they are a force that can’t be stopped, even making the powerful Galactus cautious. The Celestials expertly control life, physical matter, and the very foundations of existence, representing both the scientific and godlike sides of creation within Marvel’s cosmic stories.
8. Eternity

Eternity is everything that exists – the universe and all within it. Every atom, star, and thinking creature is a part of who he is. Within the reality he represents, he is unmatched and supreme; no one can oppose him within his domain.
Eternity isn’t just a powerful being; he controls time, fate, and the very foundation of existence in the Marvel Universe. When the universe is threatened with destruction, whether it survives depends on his condition. He’s both a living entity and an idea, highlighting the fact that Marvel’s version of reality is alive and conscious.
7. Infinity

I see Infinity as the other side of Eternity – she’s all about endless space and what could be. While Eternity keeps things grounded in time, Infinity is what stretches beyond anything we know. She feels like the source of all possibilities, constantly pushing things outward and creating new worlds and galaxies. It’s like she’s the force behind everything growing and expanding.
Infinity’s eternal conflict with Oblivion maintains the delicate balance between being and nothingness. She doesn’t rely on overwhelming power, but instead guides the cosmos with gentle changes. Infinity’s will nurtures the development of universes, guaranteeing that new life and worlds are always coming into being. Because her power is limitless, almost no one dares to challenge her.
6. The Living Tribunal

The Living Tribunal is the guardian of balance across the entire multiverse. He represents universal law and ensures fairness in all realities. His decisions, guided by the principles of Equality, Vengeance, and Necessity – reflected in his three faces – are final, and even incredibly powerful entities like Eternity and Infinity respect his authority.
The Living Tribunal is accountable only to the highest power in existence and steps in when the balance of the entire universe is at risk. He deals with major threats like the Infinity Gauntlet or strange cosmic events, always delivering a definitive resolution. His strength isn’t just about raw power; it’s about his all-knowing awareness of everything. To oppose the Living Tribunal is to challenge the fundamental order of reality.
5. The Beyonder

The Beyonder was once a being beyond reality itself, possessing limitless power and viewing the entire multiverse as something to observe. When he appeared, he disrupted the established order of everything, as even the most powerful gods acknowledged he was above them all. He could create whole universes effortlessly and treated existence like a playground for his experiments.
Originally presented as an immensely powerful being, and later reimagined as one of the Beyonders, this character is still remembered as a legend. The “Secret Wars” storyline highlighted his incredible ability to change reality and bring people back to life. Because he didn’t understand humans and had unlimited power, he was both all-powerful and incredibly dangerous.
4. The Beyonders

The Beyonders are beings who exist outside of the entire Marvel multiverse, surpassing even the limits of what’s possible within it. They come from a place beyond all known dimensions and have effortlessly destroyed entire universes. During the ‘Secret Wars’ event in 2015, they demonstrated their incredible power by completely erasing the Living Tribunal from all realities at once – a feat almost impossible to imagine in the vastness of the Marvel universe.
What drives the Beyonders is almost impossible for most creatures to understand. They see entire universes as experiments or simply as creations to play with, casually destroying and rebuilding them without a second thought. They embody a scale of existence so immense it goes beyond even the concepts of Eternity and Infinity. Their combined power is greater than nearly everything except the ultimate creator.
3. The One Below All

As a huge film and comic book fan, I’ve always been fascinated by the really dark, primal forces in storytelling. The One Below All, to me, represents pure destruction – not just physical, but the kind of decay that eats away at everything. He’s basically the opposite of whatever created the universe, a dark reflection lurking underneath all of reality. You can really feel his influence in some of the most monstrous characters, especially within the Hulk’s world – those gamma-powered beings just seem to radiate his negativity. Honestly, wherever you find rot, hatred, and things falling apart, that’s where he’s strongest.
The One Below All is the opposite of the most powerful being in existence, and his only goal is to destroy everything. Even incredibly powerful cosmic beings are afraid of his corrupting influence, as he has the power to consume entire dimensions if given a suitable host. His link to Bruce Banner showed that concepts of ultimate goodness and utter destruction are actually two parts of the same universal reality. Simply put, The One Below All is destruction itself.
2. The One-Above-All

The One-Above-All is the most powerful being in the Marvel Universe, essentially its creator. Everything – all gods, cosmic forces, and alternate dimensions – exists because of him. He doesn’t have one fixed appearance; people perceive him differently, sometimes as a brilliant light, and other times as a kind and guiding force for heroes and entire worlds.
He almost never gets directly involved, only acting when the very foundation of reality is threatened. He uses the Living Tribunal to deliver his judgments and maintain balance in the universe. As the embodiment of love, imagination, and the ultimate reason for everything, the One-Above-All is the divine force that connects all parts of Marvel’s vast and endless reality.
1. The Above-All-Others

The Above-All-Others is an even greater power than the One-Above-All, who is already considered Marvel’s supreme being. Think of the Above-All-Others as the ultimate source of all stories – he’s beyond universes and even beyond the idea of fiction itself. Essentially, he’s the writer, artist, and inspiration behind everything that exists within the Marvel universe.
This supreme being rules everything in the Marvel Multiverse, even dimensions beyond time and space. He possesses limitless and total power, making him the most powerful entity in Marvel’s universe. While other beings embody parts of reality, the Above-All-Others is the act of creation. To him, everything that exists is simply a story unfolding.
