10 Movies To Watch If You Love Pretty Lethal

Pretty Lethal is a sleek and exciting action movie centered around a group of talented ballerinas on their way to an important competition. When their bus breaks down, they’re forced to stay at a rundown inn run by the dangerous Devora Kasimer (Uma Thurman), and it soon becomes clear that everyone is in danger.

Led by Bones (Maddie Zielger), a group of ballerinas must team up to escape a dangerous situation. They’re not trained fighters, but they use their dance skills in surprisingly violent and spectacular ways – think action-packed ‘ballet-fu’! Beneath the intense action, Pretty Lethal delivers a positive message about teamwork, featuring thrilling chases and a group of unlikely allies who learn to rely on each other.

Pretty Lethal has a really original idea, blending ballet, martial arts, and intense action in a way you don’t often see. While it’s one of a kind, there are other movies that share some of the same exciting qualities. Here are a few films you might like if you enjoyed Pretty Lethal.

10. 300 (2006)

300 centers on a powerful group of Spartan warriors led by King Leonidas (Gerard Butler). While these soldiers are a far cry from dancers, if you liked the action and over-the-top fights in Pretty Lethal, you’ll likely enjoy this epic film by Zack Snyder.

This film recounts the incredible story of a small group of soldiers bravely facing the enormous Persian army, commanded by Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro). It’s memorable for its spectacular battle sequences, which are filmed with stunning visuals, slow-motion effects, and a realistic amount of action.

Similar to the film Pretty Lethal, 300 spends time developing the relationships between its characters – though these soldiers get along much better than the dancers in the other movie. While the stories are different, 300 is also about a group overcoming incredible challenges.

9. Birds Of Prey And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn (2020)

As a huge DC fan, I was really excited for Birds of Prey, and it didn’t disappoint! Margot Robbie is fantastic as Harley Quinn, picking up after her breakup with the Joker. While it features the whole Birds of Prey team, let’s be real, the movie definitely revolves around Harley and her wild adventures.

The movie centers on a revenge story. After Harley Quinn breaks up with the Joker, she gets caught in the crosshairs of Roman Sionis, a powerful crime lord. To fight back, Harley joins forces with Huntress, Black Canary, and Renee Montoya.

Similar to the movie Pretty Lethal, the action sequences in Birds of Prey are visually stunning and exaggerated. The fights are skillfully planned and executed, and Margot Robbie did a lot of her own stunts, making them even more impressive.

8. Charlie’s Angels (2000)

The 2000 film Charlie’s Angels features Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu as a team of highly skilled private investigators. They travel the world on a mission to save a software engineer who has been kidnapped.

Unlike Pretty Lethal, Charlie’s Angels is more of an action-comedy with a lighter tone. It’s rated PG-13, meaning the fight scenes aren’t as intense. However, it’s still really fun to watch the Angels in action, and the actresses have fantastic chemistry together.

It’s easy to recommend Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, especially with Demi Moore playing a fantastic villain. However, it’s best to watch the first Charlie’s Angels movie first to get to know the famous team.

7. The Matrix Reloaded (2003)

With its incredibly exciting and dynamic fight sequences, The Matrix Reloaded stands out as the most action-filled film in the original trilogy. While watching the first Matrix movie provides helpful background, Reloaded earns its place on this list thanks to its memorable and creatively choreographed battles that play with time.

In The Matrix Reloaded, most of the original heroes are working separately. Neo (Keanu Reeves) often finds himself alone, easily defeating large groups of enemies using only his physical skills.

I always appreciated how Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Morpheus (Lawrence Fishburne) felt so much more… real, even in that incredible world. They weren’t superhuman in the same way as some others; their skills felt achievable, and their fights were just amazing to watch. If you loved the action in Pretty Lethal, you’ll find plenty to enjoy in the second Matrix film – the choreography is fantastic!

6. Ready Or Not (2019)

One of the best parts of Pretty Lethal is the action, but the story also focuses on ballerinas navigating a strange and dangerous place. If you liked the suspenseful atmosphere of the Teramok Inn, you’ll probably enjoy Ready or Not as well.

The movie Ready or Not follows Grace (played by Samara Weaving) as she marries into a very unusual family. On her wedding night, she’s forced to participate in a deadly game of hide-and-seek, where losing means certain death.

Grace is trapped in a creepy mansion for the night and will do whatever it takes to make it through. The movie is a thrilling game of cat and mouse, filled with intense violence, gore, and surprisingly dark humor.

5. John Wick (2014)

Although John Wick didn’t invent the style of action known as ‘gun-fu,’ it definitely made it widely popular by blending martial arts with shooting. The action in Pretty Lethal, often called ‘ballet-fu,’ is similar – it combines impressive flexibility and dance-like movements with fighting using blades.

If you liked the action in Pretty Lethal, you’ll probably enjoy the fights in John Wick just as much. Both feature incredibly well-planned battles that feel powerful and realistic, with some surprisingly intense moments.

Keanu Reeves as John Wick might not be graceful, but he’s incredibly lethal, even when unarmed. The film’s plot is simple and direct, and if you like it, there are three sequels and a spin-off already available.

4. Black Swan (2010)

Although the dancers in Pretty Lethal aren’t fighters by trade, the movie shows they endure incredibly difficult and painful training to reach an elite level. This intense commitment to their art is something rarely depicted as powerfully as in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan.

Okay, so Natalie Portman absolutely kills it in this movie as Nina Sayers, a ballerina who’s really dedicated. She’s prepping for the lead in ‘Swan Lake,’ which is a huge deal because the role demands she convincingly play both the innocent White Swan and the seductive Black Swan. She nails the delicate White Swan part, but honestly, getting into the headspace of the darker, Black Swan is where she really struggles, and that’s where the movie gets really interesting.

Without giving away any key plot points, Black Swan is a tense psychological thriller disguised as a drama about the world of professional ballet. It’s not an action-packed movie with fight scenes, but it realistically portrays the intense struggles ballerinas often face – a theme that the movie Pretty Lethal frequently alludes to.

3. Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)

Considering Uma Thurman appears in both films, Kill Bill is a perfect fit for this list. She stars as The Bride, a master fighter who wakes up from a coma determined to get revenge on the people who attacked her, and also plays Devora in Pretty Lethal.

Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill is a thrilling, two-part revenge tale packed with over-the-top action and violence, but it also explores deeper themes. The Bride faces off against memorable and powerful enemies, such as O-Ren Ishii (played by Lucy Liu), a formidable leader in the Japanese mafia.

If you liked Uma Thurman in Pretty Lethal, you’ll love her in Kill Bill. While the two movies have different stories, they share enough similarities that it’s worth watching both Kill Bill films.

2. Sucker Punch (2011)

Sucker Punch is an action-packed and visually stunning film, but beneath the exciting surface lies a surprisingly complex and unsettling story that plays with what’s real and what isn’t. It’s a unique mix of fantasy, thrills, and psychological suspense.

Emily Browning plays Babydoll, a young woman struggling with overwhelming challenges. She bravely battles her inner demons in a fantastical world filled with bizarre and dangerous foes, including robotic samurai.

The idea behind the story is really interesting, and Babydoll faces danger alongside her four friends. Though they aren’t trained ballerinas, the movie cleverly incorporates their dance skills into the fantastical world. Sucker Punch feels a lot like Pretty Lethal, offering a visually striking but dark story.

1. Ballerina (2025)

If you enjoy the John Wick movies, you’ll probably like this one too – it has a similar feel. The film centers around Eve, played by Ana de Armas, who is a skilled ballerina with a secret: she’s a highly trained assassin, having been raised within the Rusca Roma society.

The movie Ballerina is a simple revenge thriller. After a secretive cult murders her parents, Eve uses her skills to track them down and get revenge. Though she’s a trained dancer, her fighting style is reminiscent of John Wick – she’s quick, graceful, and skilled with all kinds of weapons.

The series is famous for its beautiful settings and impressive fight scenes, and Ballerina delivers on both fronts. The main character, Eve, is engaging, and her adventure takes her around the world with constant excitement. Fans will also be thrilled to see Keanu Reeves return as Baba Yaga.
