10 Spider-Man Variants We Still Need to See in the Spider-Verse Movies

Fans of Marvel instantly took to Miles Morales and other Spider-Man versions showcased in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and their affection for these characters persisted in the sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. As fans eagerly anticipate the third movie, they know the wait will be rewarding. These films have introduced numerous Spider variants, such as Peter B. Parker and Spider-Man Noir, with the second film adding even more, showcasing hundreds working together across different dimensions. Yet, there are still a number of Spider variants that haven’t made it to the big screen yet.

The updates about “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” indicate that we might need to be patient, as the 2027 release date appears to be increasingly certain. As the final installment of the trilogy, it could be our last opportunity to witness new versions of Spider-Man in cinemas. With a few years still ahead, we’ll keep our fingers crossed for these Spider-Man characters to grace the screen.

1) Savage Spider-Man (Earth-83043)

In the unfortunate event, Peter Parker from Universe-83043 was on board the plane that claimed his parents’ lives. Unlike them, he lived through the crash, but his tale took an even more peculiar turn. Upon reaching a wild and unfamiliar land on his Earth, enormous spiders attacked the young man. Although they didn’t kill him, they left numerous bites. Fortunately, these bites bestowed upon him superhuman abilities.

In his latest transformation, Peter Parker assumed the role of guardian for the Savage Lands, earning him the nickname “Savage Spider-Man” among many. Later on, he joined forces with the Spider-Army to combat the Inheritors, playing a pivotal part during one of their crucial final battles.

2) Spider-Ma’am (Earth-3123)

Occasionally, it’s not Peter Parker who gets bitten by the spider, but someone he cares deeply for. On one fateful day in Earth-3123, May Parker was delivering her nephew’s lunch when an unexpected encounter with a radioactive arachnid occurred. In classic superhero fashion, Aunt May assumed a costume and took up a mission to combat evil, all while shielding those she held dear.

In a twist, May transformed into Spider-Ma’am, following in the footsteps of Peter Parker by using her crime-fighting abilities to financially support her family. Spider-Ma’am joined the Spider-Army during the Totem War, primarily driven by fear for the safety of her husband and nephew. This selfless act only endears her to us more. Her story takes an unusual turn when she took in a group of infants whose minds housed the consciousnesses of the Inheritors. In a later battle against Morlun, she shockingly admitted to consuming his family. Despite this, Spider-Ma’am remains the most lovable Spider-hero.

3) Ghost Spider (Earth-11638)

In contrast to many iterations of Peter Parker, the one from Earth-11638 didn’t have a life shrouded in sorrow. Instead, he lived in a world where things generally went well for him. Unlike the traditional narrative where his uncle met an untimely and preventable death, this Peter’s uncle was alive and well. He was popular and successful to such an extent that he founded Parker Technologies, which eventually gave him access to the multiverse. This allowed him to attract other Spider-Men from various universes, taking their powers for his own use.

In Earth-616, Peter Parker managed to reach this alternate version and successfully convinced him that his actions were wrong. Unfortunately, Peter Parker from Earth-11638 passed away and his spirit went to Hell. But the tale doesn’t end there – he resurfaced as Ghost Spider, a unique manifestation of Ghost Rider. In an attempt to atone for his past mistakes, this new form of him now helps heroes who have been separated from their original realities.

4) Spiders-Man (Earth-11580)

In my opinion, even people who aren’t particularly fond of spiders find themselves humming Spider-Man’s theme tune, but that’s a different story for Spider-Man himself. Peter Parker from Earth-11580 experienced an unfortunate incident when he stumbled into a chamber filled with genetically enhanced spiders. These arachnids, in an unexpected turn of events, assimilated Peter’s consciousness, allowing them to adopt his character and persona. They even put on the iconic suit and took it upon themselves to protect the world.

In this universe, though the original Peter Parker no longer exists, his essence lives on through the spiders who incorporated him, keeping a piece of his legacy alive. They’ve faced the Green Goblin, rescued Gwen, and played crucial roles during the Spider-Geddon events. Some might find their presence in the Spider-Verse franchise unsettling, but it’s hard to deny that they would bring a fresh dynamic to the team.

5) Patton Parnel (Earth-51412)

I’m one of the numerous Spider-Man variants who didn’t have the privilege of a contented life. Growing up under an abusive roof before encountering a radioactive spider, my journey was far from ideal compared to other Spidey counterparts. Instead of simply gaining the classic spider abilities, I morphed into something more overtly spider-like – fangs, extra eyes, additional arms, and legs. This hybrid transformation allows for partial or full metamorphosis, giving me an edge when it comes to blending with my surroundings.

As a film enthusiast, I must share an unsettling tale about a character named Patton Parnel. His metamorphosis didn’t stop at just one stage. He felt uneasy and famished, and though I won’t delve into every morsel he consumed, let me clarify that he eventually started feeding on people. Had it not been for Morlon’s timely arrival, Patton could have evolved into a potentially catastrophic entity in the Earth-51412 universe, halting his narrative prematurely.

6) Cosmic Spider-Man (Earth-13)

Of course, it’s common for different interpretations of Spider-Man to veer from the usual, forming alliances with diverse characters and cosmic entities. For instance, Peter Parker from Earth-13 connected with the Enigma Force, which granted him the abilities of Captain Universe. In his Cosmic Spider-Man persona, he’s undeniably one of the most powerful versions out there.

At the beginning of Cosmic Spider-Man’s superhero journey, he was enlisted by Earth-41940’s S.H.I.E.L.D., becoming part of a team known as the Spider-Men to fight the Multiversal Sinister Six. Throughout his career, he did all he could to save the day, but ultimately met his end during the Totem War. Solus was the one who took his life, and the Inheritors feasted on him. Although his story concluded in the comics, it might be revived or extended within the Spider-Verse universe.

7) Old Man Spider (Ezekiel Sims, Earth-4)

It’s worth noting that the character we’re discussing, often known as Old Man Spider or Ezekiel Sims, carries a rich background both within his fictional world and in Marvel Comics. Similar to Peter Parker, there exist multiple variations of Ezekiel Sims across various dimensions. One such version is recognized in the Spider-Verse series under the title Spider-Therapist. However, the Earth-4 variation has yet to debut on the big screen.

On his world, Ezekiel Sims took up the mantle of Spider-Man, working alongside other Spider-team members to combat the threat posed by the Inheritors. Throughout his life, the elderly figure known as Old Man Spider dedicated himself to shielding both ordinary citizens and different versions of Spider-Man from harm.

8) Aaron Aikman (Earth-31411)

The journey of Dr. Aaron Aikman transforming into Spider-Man deviates significantly from the traditional Peter Parker storyline. Instead of delving into journalism, Aaron chose to focus on medical science, particularly the use of venom in medicine, with a specialty in insect venoms. This path eventually led him to voluntarily modify his DNA, incorporating spider attributes. At the same time, he designed and wore cybernetic armor to enhance his newfound powers even more. Though it may seem like multiple layers of headgear, it proved effective for him.

Due to two separate character origins on Earth-31411 combining traits of both Spider-Man and Iron Man, Aaron Aikman resembles a blend of these superheroes. He faced numerous iconic foes, eventually joining the struggle against the Inheritors. Tragically, this is where his comic book story concludes. However, there’s always a chance for his tale to continue in the Spider-Verse films.

9) Web Weaver (Cooper Coen Earth-71490)

As a movie enthusiast, I’m always amazed at how the story of Spider-Man isn’t confined to just one person. Over time, we’ve seen different characters take on the mantle, such as Cooper Coen from Earth-71490. Unlike Peter Parker, Cooper’s journey to heroism was markedly distinct. He was ostracized by his own family for being gay and found solace in the world of fashion, eventually using it to design an extraordinary costume adorned with black and yellow accents.

As a superhero, Cooper adopted the alias Web-Weaver. During his heroic career, he encountered numerous iterations of classic adversaries, including Kraven, Symbiotes, Rhino, and Chameleon. Not surprisingly, he eventually agreed to join forces with Spider-UK to protect the multiverse known as the Spider-Verse.

10) Poison (Earth-70134)

In the multiverse I follow, there’s an array of Spider-Man heroes, one among them being Earth-70134’s Peter Parker who merged with his Venom Symbiote, deviating from the heroic path we’re accustomed to. Instead, he succumbed to the allure that Symbiotes present. With the bond formed, this Peter adopted the name Poison and transformed into a villain in his own right.

In a heated disagreement with his wife Mary Jane, Peter took on the name Venom in an attempt to persuade her to bond with a new Symbiote offspring. Unfortunately, their conversation didn’t go smoothly. As the villain known as Venom, Peter has faced off against renowned heroes such as Wolverine and Luke Cage. It’s easy to envision the trouble that Venom might cause within the Spider-Verse.
