The Incredible Hulk is arguably the strongest hero in Marvel Comics. Scientist Bruce Banner became the Hulk after an accident involving gamma radiation, turning him into a massive, green creature fueled by anger. This radiation grants him incredible strength, the ability to heal quickly, and effectively makes him immortal. Over time, the Hulk has become even more powerful, capable of battling some of the strongest beings in the Marvel universe. This makes sense, as his strength increases with his rage – and there doesn’t seem to be a limit. Driven by a lifetime of trauma, abuse, and fear, the Hulk stands as one of the most formidable heroes in comic book history.
The Hulk is famously known for his incredible strength and tendency to destroy anything that challenges him. While his power comes from a lot of buried anger and past experiences, a key factor setting him apart from other gamma-powered beings is a supremely powerful, evil entity called the One Below All. This being is the origin of all gamma radiation throughout the multiverse and actively tries to amplify the Hulk’s power, hoping to control him. Fortunately, the Hulk has fought against this control and instead uses the immense power he receives to perform heroic deeds.
10) Destroyed an Asteroid Twice the Size of Earth

Even at his weakest, as the Gray Hulk, the Jolly Green Giant possesses incredible strength – enough to save Earth from total destruction. In one Marvel comic book, a group of alien children were carelessly destroying planets when they sent an asteroid twice the size of Earth on a collision course with us. Acting fast, the Hulk used a jetpack to reach the asteroid in space. Despite being in his weakest form, he shattered the massive object into millions of pieces with a single punch, preventing Earth’s annihilation.
9) Destroyed a Planet and Moon

The Hulk is incredibly powerful, and his fights often cause massive destruction – sometimes even on a planetary scale. In Incredible Hulks #634, the Hulk and several allies with similar powers were transported to the Dark Dimension, where they clashed with various enemies. During the battle, the villain Tyrannus tricked Red She-Hulk into fighting her friends. This enraged both Hulks, causing them to transform into their most powerful ‘Worldbreaker’ forms and attack each other. The impact of their collision was so immense it completely destroyed the planet they were on, along with a nearby moon. Fortunately, the explosion also activated a magical well that instantly brought everyone who had been vaporized back to life.
8) Lifted the Weight of a Star

In the story of Infinity, Earth was invaded by Thanos, a powerful villain, and his elite team, the Black Order, while the Avengers were away battling the Builders in space. Luckily, the Avengers returned in time to prevent Thanos from taking over. During the fight, the Hulk faced off against two of the Black Order’s toughest fighters, Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight. Proxima Midnight managed to pierce the Hulk with her incredibly strong spear – a weapon capable of withstanding the force of a star. Despite also being poisoned, the Hulk amazingly didn’t fall, and instead held the spear up even while on his knees.
7) Held Open a Black Hole

The Hulk is famous as an Avenger, but he’s also been a key member of the Defenders, often saving them from danger. A great example is in Defenders #3, where the team—including Doctor Strange, Namor, and Silver Surfer—were traveling between dimensions when the Hulk was pulled towards a black hole. He quickly grabbed the edge, allowing his teammates to hold onto him. While the Hulk struggled against the black hole’s pull, Namor used the Silver Surfer’s board to rescue everyone. Without the Hulk’s quick thinking and strength, the Defenders wouldn’t have survived.
6) Destroyed Sagittarius A

The Hulk’s strength is truly unbelievable – he’s not only held a black hole open, but he’s actually destroyed one from within! In the comic series Hulk: Smash Everything, the villain Leader sends the Hulk into Sagittarius A, the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. The intense gravity of the black hole initially tears the Hulk apart, atom by atom. But, fueled by his rage, the Hulk manages to reassemble himself and fights back. He begins repeatedly punching the incredibly dense matter inside Sagittarius A, eventually splitting the black hole in half and causing a massive explosion – destroying the largest black hole in the galaxy!
5) Punched Through Time

In a particularly amazing moment from The Incredible Hulk #135, the Hulk actually punched a hole in time. The villain Kang the Conqueror, a time traveler, was trying to go back to the past but was stopped by a massive and powerful time storm. Knowing he needed incredible force to get through, Kang tricked the Hulk into helping him, promising to eliminate Bruce Banner once and for all. The Hulk agreed, and Kang directed him to attack the storm. With one powerful punch, the Hulk shattered the storm, inadvertently sending himself back in time and allowing Kang to pursue his plans to change history.
4) Shattered a Universe with a Clap

The Hulk is so strong that he once accidentally destroyed an entire universe with a simple clap. This happened in The Incredible Hulk #126 when Bruce Banner was kidnapped by a cult and sent to another universe to defeat their enemy, the Night-Crawler (who is different from the X-Man). When Bruce didn’t want to transform into the Hulk, the cult threatened a young woman, forcing him to change and fight. The Hulk defeated the Night-Crawler with his powerful thunderclap, but the force of the clap unexpectedly ripped apart the Night-Crawler’s entire universe. They were only saved when the Night-Crawler teleported all three of them to a different dimension before the universe collapsed completely.
3) Escaped a Dimension of Infinite Density

In The Incredible Hulk #370, when the Hulk was operating as “Joe Fixit,” he noticed a strange light coming from an apartment and went to check it out. He discovered Doctor Strange’s spirit battling a pair of demonic hands inside a closet. The hands pulled Strange’s spirit into a dark, dangerous dimension. Without hesitation, the Hulk followed, immediately feeling immense pressure. He fought hard and managed to save Doctor Strange’s spirit, pulling them both out of the dimension while also battling the demonic hands. Afterwards, Bruce Banner spoke with Doctor Strange, who explained that the dimension was incredibly dense, making their survival and escape even more remarkable.
2) Broke First Firmament Chains

In Incredible Hulk #18, Bruce Banner made a deal with a powerful, Lovecraftian villain called the Eldest. He allowed her to take control of his Hulk form to save an innocent woman’s life. As part of the deal, the Eldest chained the Hulk using fragments of the First Firmament – the remains of the original universe. These chains are incredibly strong; they’ve even been able to restrain Eternity, the being who embodies all of existence! Previously, even a small piece of the First Firmament posed a threat to the entire Marvel multiverse. Confident she had trapped the Hulk with these unbelievably powerful chains, the Eldest was proven wrong when the Hulk, fueled by rage, managed to break free.
1) Shook the Multiverse

As a huge Hulk fan, I’ve always been fascinated by his toughest battles, and the U-Foes are definitely up there! Their powerhouse, Ironclad, is incredibly strong because he can make himself super dense. I remember reading The Incredible Hulk #304 where Doctor Strange sent the Hulk to another dimension, and wouldn’t you know it, he ran right into the U-Foes! It was an epic clash, especially the fight between the Hulk and Ironclad. Every punch they threw sent shockwaves through countless dimensions – seriously, the multiverse felt it! That really highlights just how unbelievably powerful the Hulk gets when he’s angry. It’s a testament to his strength, honestly.
