10 X-Men Batman Could Beat (Ranked By How Hard It’d Be)

The X-Men are a truly powerful team in the comic book world. A core part of their mission is training mutants to control their abilities. They’re constantly practicing, battling each other and simulated enemies, to improve their teamwork and become stronger. Attacking one X-Man means facing the entire team, and even a single member is a formidable opponent. They’re highly skilled in combat, with many exceptional fighters having been part of the X-Men.

Batman is one of the few heroes who could realistically go up against the X-Men, even facing the whole team. He’s skilled at fighting all kinds of opponents, with or without superpowers. While he wouldn’t win against every X-Man, he could definitely defeat a good number of them. Here are ten X-Men who would likely lose to Batman, though some battles would be more challenging than others.

10) Havok

Havok constantly struggles with self-doubt, despite being a powerful and experienced mutant leader, much like his brother Cyclops. Batman will exploit this insecurity, using Havok’s low self-esteem to distract him and create an opening. A well-timed batarang would likely be all it takes to defeat him. If Havok could overcome his inner demons, he’d be a tough opponent, but Batman is skilled at manipulating others and will use that to his advantage.

9) Jubilee

Jubilee has grown significantly more powerful over time. She’s become very skilled with her energy blasts – bursts of plasma she calls “fireworks” – and can inflict serious damage. Thanks to training with experienced teammates like Wolverine, she’s also a capable fighter up close. However, her tendency to act impulsively could be her downfall. Batman would likely exploit this, as Jubilee often jumps into fights without fully assessing the situation, allowing him to defeat her quickly.

8) Gambit

Gambit is a formidable opponent, and a fight with Batman would be exciting to watch. However, while Gambit is faster and can attack from a distance, his overconfidence would likely be his downfall. Batman is a master strategist and would quickly figure out how to exploit Gambit’s personality. Although Gambit is a clever fighter, Batman is both stronger and more skilled. He’d keep the fight up close, limiting Gambit’s ability to effectively use his powers – his biggest strength. The battle would be quick and intense, but ultimately Batman would win.

7) Bishop

Bishop is a compelling anti-hero, but he’d struggle against Batman. Batman excels in almost every area, and Bishop’s only real edge is his mutant power. The problem is, Batman can’t recharge Bishop’s energy, meaning each use of his powers depletes his reserves. Batman is the better fighter, and while Bishop’s abilities will offer some resistance, it won’t be enough to win. Bishop will fight bravely, and it won’t be a simple victory for Batman, but ultimately, he’s likely to lose.

6) Cyclops

As a huge comic book fan, I’ve always thought Cyclops is seriously underrated. He’s the backbone of the X-Men, really honing their skills and he’s arguably the best strategist Marvel has to offer – right up there with Batman, honestly. But even with all that planning, I think Batman would win in a fight. Cyclops is powerful, sure, but Batman has faced tougher. The key is Cyclops’ visor. Once Batman figures out how vital it is for controlling his optic blasts – and he will – he’s going to take it off. Cyclops is a good guy and won’t risk hurting innocent people, so he’d be forced to keep his eyes shut, and a blind opponent? That’s an easy victory for the Dark Knight.

5) Kitty Pryde

Kitty Pryde is a skilled defender who can become intangible, letting her control the pace of a fight. She’s been battling villains since she was a teenager and has received training from world-class fighters like Wolverine. While Batman has faced phasing abilities before, Kitty’s skill at attacking and then disappearing to avoid retaliation will make this a drawn-out fight. However, Batman is significantly faster. It will take time and a few unsuccessful attempts, but he’ll eventually land a powerful blow. Once he does, he’ll have the upper hand, as Kitty, despite her abilities, isn’t quite on Batman’s level.

4) Psylocke

Many people think Psylocke would win against Batman due to her ability to read minds, but Batman has a powerful ally in Martian Manhunter. Martian Manhunter has taught Batman how to defend against telepathic attacks, even creating separate personalities as a defense. This means Batman can confuse anyone trying to read his thoughts, turning the fight into a hand-to-hand combat match. While Psylocke is a skilled fighter and would give Batman a tough fight, he’d ultimately win. She’d land some hits and push him to his limits, but she wouldn’t be able to defeat him.

3) Magik

Magik’s magic gives her an initial edge against Batman, particularly her ability to use portals and her strong sword fighting. However, Batman is well-prepared to handle magical opponents, having fought heroes like Zatanna and Doctor Fate. He’s also a more skilled fighter overall. Magik’s aggressive fighting style could actually be her downfall; Batman could exploit her eagerness, creating an opening to defeat her.

2) Archangel

Let’s be honest: Archangel’s main advantage is his ability to fly. While his metal wings are dangerous, they’re less effective against someone who can counter aerial attacks. And that’s where Batman comes in. He’s faced flying opponents before and will focus on either drawing Archangel down to earth or closing the distance to attack. It would be a drawn-out battle, but once Batman has a strategy, he won’t take long to figure out a way to win.

1) Nightcrawler

Okay, as a huge X-Men and Batman fan, I’ve thought about this fight a lot! On paper, Batman’s the better fighter – he’s trained in, like, everything. But Nightcrawler’s teleporting? That changes things completely. It basically makes him super-humanly fast and gives him a massive advantage in movement. Batman’s never really faced anyone who can just bamf around like that. The problem is, Nightcrawler does have to get close to land those hits, and that’s where I think Batman would take over. Bruce is just so incredibly strong and durable. One solid punch would really mess Nightcrawler up, slow him down, and break his rhythm. Nightcrawler relies on that incredible speed to win, so if Batman can disrupt that, I think he’d ultimately win. It’d be a tough fight, no doubt, but I think Batman takes it more often than not.
