Beyond his unusual appearance, there’s a story about overcoming hardship and learning to accept yourself, even when others don’t understand you.
Maggott hasn’t been featured much in Marvel stories, and it’s always felt like the studio wasn’t quite sure how to use him. Giving him more attention could turn him from a joke character into a beloved and respected figure among fans.
7. Dani Moonstar
As a huge X-Men fan, I’ve always thought Dani Moonstar is seriously underrated. She’s not just powerful – she’s got this incredible mix of compassion, bravery, and a deep understanding of her heritage that puts her right up there with Marvel’s best psychics. She’s consistently stepped up as a leader for the New Mutants, and I love how she can be both a guiding mentor and a fierce warrior, always with this unwavering self-assurance. But what really gets me is her power to bring people’s deepest fears to life – it’s such a compelling ability, and it adds so much depth to the whole X-Men universe.
Dani has the potential to be a major voice in mutant affairs, but she’s frequently overlooked. Her unique background as a Cheyenne woman with strong spiritual and cultural ties offers a perspective that’s often absent in current storylines. Amplifying her role could create a more meaningful connection between the themes of mutant identity and the lived experiences of marginalized communities.
6. Forge
Forge is one of the most brilliant scientific minds in the Marvel Universe. His mutant ability lets him create incredibly advanced technology, frequently providing the core of his team’s equipment and plans. Despite this, he doesn’t usually get the same recognition as geniuses like Reed Richards or Tony Stark.
Forge is more than just a skilled inventor; his life is a compelling story of overcoming past mistakes and finding himself again. Haunted by his experiences in the military and a difficult connection with Storm, he’s a character with real emotional depth – a quality often missing in similar heroes. It’s time to see Forge recognized not only for his inventions, but also as a flawed and complex man grappling with the consequences of his extraordinary abilities.
5. Frenzy
Joanna Cargill, also known as Frenzy, is a powerful example of someone who turned their life around. She went from being a dangerous follower of Magneto and the Acolytes to becoming a dedicated and trustworthy member of the X-Men. Not only is she incredibly strong, but she firmly believes mutants deserve the right to control their own destinies.

Despite this, Marvel often sidelines her, failing to recognize her potential as a key thought leader. The nation of Krakoa would be much stronger with her voice and experience guiding its direction.
4. Monet St. Croix
Monet is a standout character in the X-Men universe who deserves more recognition. She’s incredibly intelligent, attractive, and possesses immense power – essentially, she embodies the kind of ‘perfect’ character the X-Men often deconstruct. Throughout her time with teams like Generation X and X-Factor, she’s proven to be both quick-witted and emotionally complex, though she often hides those qualities behind a confident and composed exterior.
It’s common for writers to create characters who are both strong and flawed, and that inner conflict is what makes them interesting. This writer’s stories about difficult topics like family secrets, race, and mental health are particularly compelling and could be explored even further. The character Monet isn’t simply confident—her strength is a way of protecting herself—and this complexity makes her a standout and potentially one of the most layered characters in the series.
3. Armor
Hisako Ichiki, who goes by the hero name Armor, embodies the promise of a new generation of heroes. Her ability to create armor made of light isn’t just about power – it shows her inner strength and determination, reflecting both her heritage and rebellious spirit. Even when working alongside more experienced heroes, she often provides the emotional core of the team.
Marvel created Armor as a potential future leader, but hasn’t given her the chance to shine. Her strength, combined with her relatable flaws and smart thinking, would make her a great focus for X-Men stories about passing on the torch and evolving. She deserves to be a core member of the team, not just a trainee, but a true hero.

Though his mutant power ripped his body apart, leaving a gaping hole where his chest and mouth used to be, his will to live remained strong. Chamber is a visually unique and compelling mutant who hasn’t gotten the attention he deserves. He’s a deeply thoughtful character with hidden anger, and his story could be as moving and impactful as those of Wolverine or Cyclops. Rather than being a side character for jokes or simple drama, Chamber has the potential to be a truly tragic hero for modern audiences.

For years, Lorna Dane has been overshadowed by Magneto, which doesn’t reflect how truly remarkable she is. Her magnetic powers are as strong as his, and she’s a more complex character than many other famous mutants. She explores important ideas about family, power, and mental well-being – themes that the X-Men universe often doesn’t fully address.
Lorna is often treated as a tool in stories instead of a fully developed character, but when writers allow her to shine, she proves to be strong-willed and intelligent. Her time with X-Factor demonstrated her ability to be both a caring leader and a decisive commander. If Marvel gave her the chance, Lorna could lead the X-Men with the same authority and impact as characters like Cyclops and Storm.
