10 Years Later, America’s Most-Banned Franchise Drops Trailer for New Anime Movie

After a decade since its anime series finished, the manga series most frequently banned in U.S. schools is returning with a new movie. Creator Yusei Matsui recently finished their latest project, The Elusive Samurai, but has faced ongoing issues in the United States due to their earlier work, Assassination Classroom, which has been banned in schools across the country in recent years.

Despite being banned in many schools across the country, the popular manga series Assassination Classroom is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special event in Japan. To commemorate the end of the original manga and anime, a new movie featuring the original TV anime cast and crew will be released in theaters. You can watch the trailer for Assassination Classroom The Movie: Our Time below.

Assassination Classroom Movie Drops Final Trailer Ahead of Japan Debut

The movie Assassination Classroom: Our Time will be released in Japan on March 20th, but there’s no news yet about when it will be available in other countries. The film commemorates the tenth anniversary of the anime series and features the original voice actors, including Kikuko Inoue as Azusa, Mai Fuchigami as both Hotaru and Nagisa, Sayumi Suzuhiro as Kaho Tsuchiya, Mai Kanazawa as Kokona Tagawa, Yuichiro Umehara as Seeker, Kappei Yamaguchi as Futoshi, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Mario, Hiroki Tochi as Chantha, and Tetsu Inada as Sengoku, among many others.

The movie Assassination Classroom: Our Time will be directed by Masaki Kitamura and animated by Studio Lerche, the team behind the original anime series. Makoto Uezu is writing the screenplay, and Aya Higami is handling the character designs. Sora Tomonari will perform the film’s theme song, titled “Teacher.” Importantly, this movie continues the story from the anime, offering fans brand new adventures they haven’t seen yet.

What’s New for the Assassination Classroom Movie?

Yusei Matsui has announced that Assassination Classroom The Movie: Our Time will continue the story of the series. While the original anime had a definite ending, this new film introduces a completely original story, plus additional stories that weren’t included in the TV series. Fans have been waiting ten years for the return of this franchise, and this movie promises to be a substantial and satisfying addition.

Even though many schools in the United States have banned the manga, the series remains incredibly popular. We can probably expect the new Assassination Classroom movie to be released in the US somehow, but it’s unclear if it will be shown in theaters outside of Japan.
