Amy Slaton and Brian Lovvorn are so on the same page, it’s almost scary.
While saying “trick or treat” isn’t as significant as saying “I do,” for the star of 1000-lb Sisters, exchanging wedding vows on Halloween was incredibly meaningful to her and her partner.
Amy described her wedding to People magazine as a dream come true, saying, ‘I’m getting my happily ever after!’ She and Brian tied the knot on October 31st at the historic Talbott Tavern in Bardstown, Kentucky, which is rumored to be haunted.
Two months later, their relationship is going strong. Amy celebrated her husband’s birthday on December 26th with a sweet message, calling him a “shining star” and thanking him for always believing in her and being her constant support.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following Amy and Chris’s journey, and things are really heating up! Season eight of 1000-lb Sisters kicked off on January 6th, and they’re still deep in wedding planning. It’s amazing to think Brian proposed just five months after they first met – can you believe it was at a concert in the park back in 2024? Their love story is unfolding quickly, and I’m excited to see what happens next!
Sometimes you just know. That’s why, inside the padded room of Henderson Haunts’ haunted house, he got down on one knee and proposed.
Just as she envisioned.

Amy and her horror-loving boyfriend took their relationship to the next level quickly – they got matching “Scary Love” tattoos on their second date! She later shared on 1000-lb Sisters that he playfully proposed with a green apple Ring Pop while she was sleeping. Though surprised, she accepted, but with one condition: the real proposal had to happen in a haunted house on Halloween.
Let’s talk about proposals! When he finally decided to propose, he really went all out with the ring. It wasn’t your typical diamond – he chose a stunning gothic silver piece. Imagine two skeleton hands delicately forming a heart – so unique and a total reflection of his style. It was a bold choice, and honestly, I loved it! It’s all about finding something that feels authentic to the couple.
Amy really fell for Brian when he connected with her sons, 5-year-old Gage Deon and 3-year-old Glenn Allen, whose father is her ex-husband, Michael Halterman. She knew then that he was someone special.
Amy explained in a later episode of 1000-lb Sisters that he quickly became part of the family. “He just fit perfectly,” she said, adding that he was exactly what she’d always wanted in her life.
When Brian and his many shoes moved in, he also cleaned and organized Amy’s house. Amy joked that he had more shoes than Paris Hilton.
She surprisingly said that getting arrested at a Tennessee zoo in 2024, and later reaching a plea agreement, actually brought her and Brian closer together.

Amy started the new season by admitting she made a mistake, but she’s determined to make things right. Surprisingly, she believes going through the problem together has actually brought her and another person closer, and she can even find something to be grateful for in the situation, even if it was frustrating.
Following a report by Amy that she was bitten by a camel during a family visit to Tennessee Safari Park in September 2024, police searched her and Brian’s car and found marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms. As a result, both were arrested and face charges of drug possession and endangering their children.
Last December, both individuals pleaded guilty to two counts of simple possession and agreed to the same sentencing conditions. According to the Crockett County Circuit Court Clerk, these conditions included completing a drug and alcohol evaluation, attending parenting classes, paying $1,000 in fines, and avoiding all contact with Tennessee Safari Park.
“I’m really looking forward to getting past all the legal issues and just enjoying life,” Amy shared with Brian as they headed to their meeting with the wedding planner. Brian responded, “It would be great to not have to deal with going back to Tennessee anymore.”
They were both thrilled to begin planning their wedding. It seems they believe their love will last even beyond life itself.
The wedding planner was surprised by the couple’s unusual request for a haunted wedding, complete with people dressed as ghosts during the ceremony, but she happily accepted the challenge, saying she loves trying new things.
Alas, the couple’s dream venue, the Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, Ky., was booked, so an inn with a spooky pedigree had to do.
Tammy Slaton wasn’t thrilled, as she was already having problems with her sister. Their disagreement actually got worse as Amy’s wedding approached.
Amy said on their TV show last May that Tammy seemed to think their engagement was happening too quickly. Amy also told the wedding planner she didn’t know if any of her four siblings – Tammy, Misty, Amanda, and Chris – would be able to make it to the wedding.
Amy explained that they were religious and uncomfortable with the idea of the house being haunted, so they didn’t want to be involved.

The wedding planner worried Amy might be upset about not including her family, but Brian firmly replied, “It’s our wedding, not theirs. If we want a spooky theme, we’re having one.”
Amy wanted to work things out with Tammy and the rest of the group before her wedding. Thankfully, Tammy was able to attend, but Amy’s close friend, Ollisha “Lee Lee” Davis, ended up being her maid of honor.
Naturally, the bride and groom were the center of attention at the wedding. Brian described their connection perfectly when he proposed to Amy, saying, “It’s amazing how well we fit together.”
