Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for its interconnected stories in movies and TV shows, it often drops plotlines and characters. After escaping both the real Mandarin and the events surrounding Shang-Chi, Slattery returns to Hollywood hoping to revive his acting career and finally earn the approval of his supportive mother, Dorothy. Kingsley shared that a series of unexpected events put Slattery in a position where he’s both celebrated and compromised, finding himself pulled in conflicting directions.

The celebrated actor shared that the upcoming series Wonder Man will explore a crucial time in Trevor’s life: how he first connected with Aldrich Killian and the A.I.M. organization, and what motivated him to create the Mandarin character. He described the show as a four-episode biographical story, detailing Trevor’s life both before and after taking on the role of the Mandarin.
