16 Years After the Last Episode, the Scrubs Revival Trailer Is Exactly What Fans Have Been Waiting For

Great news for fans of Scrubs! The beloved medical comedy is returning after 16 years, with most of the original cast back on board. After months of exciting announcements, the first trailer for the revival – officially called Scrubs Season 10 – has just been released, and people are already buzzing about it.

Check it out above!

Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, and Donald Faison are returning as their beloved characters J.D., Elliot, and Turk. Judy Reyes will reprise her role as Carla Espinosa, and Robert Maschio and Phill Lewis are also back as Dr. Todd Quinlan and “Crazy” Hooch, respectively. John C. McGinley will once again play the sharp-tongued Dr. Perry Cox. The new trailer reveals some fresh comedic faces joining the cast, including Vanessa Bayer (known from Saturday Night Live) and Joel Kim Booster (Loot), among others.

Is Scrubs Getting More Serious?

The original Scrubs was a hilarious and unconventional comedy that playfully poked fun at both the realities of the medical world and popular medical dramas like ER and Grey’s Anatomy. But it was also ahead of its time, helping to launch a new style of sitcom. It broke from tradition by using a single-camera setup, and its unique blend of realistic hospital scenes and Dr. Dorian’s fantasies opened the door to creative visual humor, like quick cutaway gags – a technique also seen in shows like Malcolm in the Middle and Family Guy. These cutaways were especially memorable, letting the show’s writers create short, imaginative comedic bits that have kept Scrubs popular even today, thanks to internet memes.

The new Scrubs revival feels just as silly and fun as the original, but the trailer hints at a more thoughtful and serious tone. With Ted Lasso‘s Jeff Ingold and former Scrubs writer and actress Aseem Batra involved, the show combines heartwarming comedy with a deeper understanding of the characters’ journeys. The cast appears more mature and reflective, suggesting this version of Scrubs will explore realistic medical issues and life lessons for both new and experienced doctors, tackling themes of life, death, and the importance of patient care.

I’m so excited! Scrubs is coming back with Season 10 on February 25th, and it’ll be on both ABC and streaming on Hulu. I can’t wait to rewatch it and talk about all my favorite moments with other fans – let’s chat about the best episodes over on the ComicBook Forum!
