A recent update to the PC and Steam versions of the classic game Quake now includes official support for the Steam Deck. This means the game runs smoothly on the Steam Deck from beginning to end, automatically optimized for its controls and screen – players don’t need to adjust any settings themselves. Honestly, I’m not sure why id Software decided to verify the game on the Steam Deck now, or exactly what they did to make it work so well. But hey, it’s the first update we’ve seen for the PC version since 2022, so that’s a win!
This recent activity might hint at future developments for the game, though it’s currently unknown what those might be. The Quake series hasn’t been very active lately, and there’s limited interest in revisiting the original game.
