Sources say DC Studios is considering two actors who have played villains in Marvel movies for the role of Brainiac in the upcoming “Man of Tomorrow” film. The studio is reportedly looking at several candidates to play the movie’s main villain.
Matt Smith among Man of Tomorrow’s top three picks for Brainiac
Matt Smith is a leading contender to play Brainiac in the upcoming “Man of Tomorrow” movie, according to reports. DC Studios is also considering Claes Bang and Sam Rockwell for the role. While casting is still in progress and no final decisions have been made, sources suggest that the studio’s budget might influence who ultimately gets the part. It’s important to note that some of this information hasn’t been officially confirmed.
Matt Smith is known for playing the Eleventh Doctor on Doctor Who and Prince Philip in The Crown. More recently, he’s been in House of the Dragon, Morbius, and Caught Stealing. Sam Rockwell was just nominated for an Emmy for his work on The White Lotus, and he previously won an Academy Award for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Claes Bang has appeared in films like The Square and The Northman, as well as the BBC series Dracula.
According to Nexus Point News, Claes Bang was considered for the role of Brainiac, but several other actors are also being tested, meaning the decision isn’t final. A source on social media, @MyTimeToShineHello, reported that the audition pool includes mostly lesser-known actors alongside three prominent names. However, DC Studios and James Gunn haven’t officially confirmed any of this information.
I’m so excited! James Gunn is going to write, direct, and produce the new Superman movie, officially titled ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ and it’s coming out on July 9, 2027. Peter Safran is helping produce it too, which is great. Even better, David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult are back as Superman and Lex Luthor, and Frank Grillo will be returning as Rick Flag Sr.! Filming is starting in Atlanta this April and will go on throughout the summer. From what I’ve heard, Brainiac will be the big bad guy in this one, and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together.
