Apple TV+ has quickly become the leader in science fiction programming, surpassing most other streaming services. Following the success of its biggest hit yet, Pluribus – created by the mind behind Breaking Bad – and with highly anticipated new seasons of Severance and Dark Matter on the way, Apple TV+ is the place to go for sci-fi fans. Now, their standout sci-fi series, For All Mankind, has announced its return and shared a first look at its fifth season.
We already knew the new season of For All Mankind would arrive in late March, and now Apple TV has released the official trailer, giving fans a detailed preview of the upcoming storyline.
Following the events at the end of Season 4, the new season jumps ahead to 2012. The show will depict an alternate version of history where the world is very similar to our own, but the people of Mars are now being used as political leverage on Earth. Watch the preview below and get ready for conflict on Mars when Season 5 of For All Mankind begins on March 27th.
For All Mankind Season 5 Trailer Introduces a New Generation

The series For All Mankind presents a fascinating ‘what if’ scenario: what if the Soviet Union had beaten the United States to the moon? This single change dramatically alters history as we know it, making the show appealing to both science fiction and history buffs. Beginning in 1969, the show progresses year by year, and the upcoming fifth season is now set in 2012 – just fourteen years in the past.
As a huge fan of For All Mankind, I’m so excited for Season 5! It jumps forward nine years after most of Season 4, and it’s going to be amazing to see how the Mars colony, Happy Valley, has really grown – we’re talking thousands of people living there now. But it’s not just about life on Mars; things back on Earth are getting complicated with this new off-world population. Luckily, we’ll still see Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña, and Wrenn Schmidt reprise their roles. Plus, they’re adding some fantastic new actors like Mireille Enos (you might know her from The Killing and Hanna), Costa Ronin (The Americans, Homeland), Sean Kaufman (The Summer I Turned Pretty), Ruby Cruz (Bottoms), and Ines Asserson (Royalteen). I can’t wait!
With the popularity of For All Mankind as a standout show for Apple TV+, it’s probable the series will go on even after its fifth season. While many streaming shows end after five seasons, the creators of For All Mankind have indicated they have plenty more story ideas. Plus, Apple TV+ is already developing a spin-off called Star City. This means Apple TV+ is building a unique science fiction universe, which is great news for fans of the genre.
