Now that the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S have been out for a while, we’re seeing more and more older favorites updated for these newer systems. Many PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games still work, but sometimes a game deserves a full remaster. That’s exactly what happened with the popular 2019 indie game Lost Ember, which recently received a beautiful new remaster and its first downloadable content for modern consoles.
Lost Ember was the first game created by Mooneye Studios. It’s a beautiful exploration game where you play as a wolf who can take control of other animals, experiencing the world through their eyes and using their unique skills. The original game received very positive reviews on Steam and is still popular with players. Now, this story-rich adventure has been remastered with improved graphics for today’s gaming systems.
Lost Ember Gets Full Remaster & Content Expansion for Modern Consoles
Lost Ember: Rekindled Edition is an updated version of the original game, now featuring improved 4K graphics. You can find it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Great news for existing fans: if you already own the original Lost Ember, you’ll receive this remastered version as a free upgrade. Both versions will be available in your game library, letting you choose which one you prefer.
Mooneye is encouraging players to revisit the world of Lost Ember with a remastered version of the game and a brand new DLC. Called Lost Ember: Legendary Souls, the DLC introduces a new open-world map filled with fresh quests and collectibles. It also brings back all the animals players could control in the original game. Best of all, the expansion is available for just $4.99 and seems to offer a lot of extra content for the price.
The newly released remaster, Lost Ember: Rekindled Edition, is available for $29.99 for those who don’t already own the game. Early reviews are positive, with players of the original noting significant improvements to the detail of the animals and environments, thanks to enhanced textures and visuals. Many are happy to revisit the game’s stunning world with the addition of new content.

The Rekindled Edition of Lost Ember initially had some performance problems, just like the first release. But the developers at Mooneye have been quick to address them with several updates. Players report that these patches have fixed frame rate and performance issues, making the game run much better on PCs and other platforms.
You can now play Lost Ember: Rekindled Edition on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. The original Lost Ember is still available on Nintendo Switch, but the updated version isn’t currently offered on that console or the upcoming Switch 2.
