The Game Awards 2025 is almost here, and that means excitement is building about what new games will be shown! Besides announcing the winners, the show is famous for revealing trailers and first looks at upcoming titles. Fans are already guessing what surprises are in store, and now there’s a rumor that a popular role-playing/life simulation game – originally released on Switch and PC – could be coming to a new platform.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, a popular action RPG and farming simulation game from Marvelous, launched on Switch, Switch 2, and PC in June 2025 and has received very positive reviews on Steam. It’s one of the few 2025 RPGs also being released on the new Switch 2. Recently, achievement tracker Exophase discovered PlayStation trophies related to the game, hinting that a PS5 version may be coming soon.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma PS5 Reveal Looks Likely

Guardians of Azuma is a great fit for the Switch and Switch 2 because it combines relaxing life simulation with RPG adventure – a popular mix for handheld gamers. While previous games in this series have appeared on PlayStation, it’s been some time. For example, Rune Factory 5 is currently only available on Switch and PC. This isn’t surprising, as PlayStation versions of Rune Factory games usually come out later, and are often remasters or updated releases.
A PlayStation 5 version of Rune Factory might be coming out sooner than anticipated. New trophies discovered on PlayStation suggest that Marvelous and XSeed Games are planning a port of Guardians of Azuma for the PS5. While the trophy list is currently hidden, it includes tasks like cooking a specific dish (onigiri) and defeating certain enemies – all of which closely match achievements already available in the Steam version of the game.

Marvelous hasn’t officially announced a PlayStation 5 version of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma yet. However, recent rumors about PS5 trophies for the game, combined with the upcoming Game Awards, suggest an announcement could be coming soon. It’s also worth mentioning that previous Rune Factory titles have been released on Xbox, so there’s a possibility of that happening again.
Rumors about a PlayStation 5 version of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma have been circulating for a while. When the game first came out on Nintendo Switch and PC, it received ratings for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, sparking speculation. Now, the appearance of a trophy list for the game suggests these rumors might be true, and an announcement could be coming soon. We might even see a trailer for the PS5 version at The Game Awards this year.
