2025’s Wildest Horror Movie Is an Instant Streaming Hit After Just 2 Days

Horror movies had a remarkably successful year, largely thanks to increased investment from studios and positive audience response. Warner Bros. especially excelled, releasing several major hits. They started strong with Companion, followed by the popular originals Sinners and Weapons, both of which are expected to be award contenders. They also revitalized existing franchises: Final Destination: Bloodlines became the biggest film in its twenty-year history, and The Conjuring: Last Rites achieved the highest gross of any film in that franchise, proving the series still has plenty of life left.

Alongside a wave of inventive films, including Shudder’s unique dog’s-eye-view horror movie, Good Boy, one particularly shocking film has recently become available for streaming. Together, a body-horror movie from NEON starring Dave Franco and Alison Brie, written and directed by Michael Shanks, stood out this year for its disturbing imagery and a genuinely surprising ending. Now, more people can experience this original film online.

Together Is a Streaming Hit After Two Days

In the film Together, real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie play Tim and Millie, a married couple whose relationship is struggling. After moving to the countryside for Millie’s work, they discover a strange cave, and wake up to find their legs stuck together. This odd event keeps happening, with their bodies mysteriously fusing in increasingly extreme ways – even requiring a saw to try and keep them apart. The details are best left undiscovered, but audiences are clearly enjoying this unique and unusual movie now that it’s been released.

Despite not being announced in Hulu’s January 2026 new releases, the movie Together unexpectedly appeared on the platform at the beginning of the month and has quickly become a hit. As of today, Flix Patrol shows Together as the #1 movie on Hulu. What’s remarkable is that it didn’t gradually climb the charts – it went straight to the top! Even if it doesn’t stay at #1 all week, it’s likely to remain popular and visible in Hulu’s Top 10 list for many viewers.

Aside from what the movie Together is about, a major source of discussion is the ongoing legal dispute surrounding it. Four months after its debut at the Sundance Film Festival and two months before its theatrical release, the filmmakers and distributor Neon were sued by Patrick Henry Phelan, who claimed the film illegally copied his 2023 movie, Better Half. He described Together as a “blatant rip-off.” Phelan stated that while Better Half wasn’t officially distributed, he pitched it to Brie and Franco in August 2020, but they decided to try and produce it themselves. However, the writer of Together, Shanks, maintains he wrote and registered the script with the Writers Guild of America back in 2019.

Franco told LADBible this August that the claims are baseless and they have plenty of evidence to prove it, stating, “We have the receipts.”

The lawsuit remains unresolved as of this writing.
