2026 Could Be a Huge Year for Naruto Fans

With the new year underway, 2026 could be a big year for fans of Naruto. The anime celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023 and announced plans to revive the series, focusing on the early adventures of the original Team 7. However, that revival project has been put on hold with no current updates about its release.

A new Naruto anime was initially planned for Fall 2023, but it was delayed indefinitely. Now, after two years, a revival seems possible for 2026. This is even more likely if the second part of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations also returns, as fans have been eagerly awaiting it.

Is Naruto Coming Back in 2026?

A new Naruto project was announced, focusing on younger versions of Team 7 before the events of Naruto: Shippuden. It will consist of four original episodes telling a completely new story not found in the anime or manga. So far, that’s all that’s known about the revival, aside from a few brief glimpses of what fans can expect.

A teaser image hinted at a new Naruto anime project, but details remain scarce. Right now, fans are simply hoping the project comes to fruition. Given how long it’s been since the original series, there’s excitement about a potential revival, but any confirmation of its existence would be welcome news. There’s also optimism for the future of the Boruto anime this year.

Boruto Could Return in 2026

The anime Boruto is currently paused after finishing its initial story arc, but there’s plenty more to adapt. This includes recent events from the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga that haven’t been animated yet, as well as the story from the sequel, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. With Pierrot’s other shows, Black Clover and Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, making progress, we might finally get some news about when Boruto will continue.

Junko Takeuchi, the voice actress for Naruto Uzumaki, hinted at a convention earlier this year that she’s already begun working on some aspects of Boruto Part 2. This suggests the new episodes might be released sooner than fans anticipated. Whether it’s a full anime season or just a trailer revealing a 2027 return, it looks like Naruto fans have something to look forward to this year.
