2026 TeamFight Tactics Reimagines Major League Of Legends Champions As Gods

Released in 2019, TeamFight Tactics lets players use characters from the popular game League of Legends in a strategic, automated battle format. The game features a wide range of characters from the League of Legends universe, including both well-known favorites and lesser-known options. Regularly adding new character sets keeps the gameplay fresh and evolving.

The team creating TeamFight Tactics is constantly innovating and refreshing the game with new ideas. Seven years after its launch, they’re planning to release the first of three new content updates for 2026, with the goal of reaching a total of twenty updates by next year. The next big update, called Space Gods, will add a space theme to many popular characters from League of Legends and also give the game a fresh new look.

TeamFight Tactics Is Getting A Godly Glow-Up

Riot Games is launching the “Space Gods” set as part of the 17th update to TeamFight Tactics. This is the first of three new sets planned for the game in 2026. “Space Gods” features powerful, reimagined versions of champions from League of Legends. While TFT has explored sci-fi themes before, this set goes much further than the earlier “Galaxies” set. Many familiar champions are now portrayed as cosmic gods – Soraka, Yasuo, and Ekko, for example, are depicted as incredibly powerful beings with important roles in a vast universe. Other champions will appear as more ordinary characters striving to earn the favor of these gods through combat, with fresh takes on characters like Graves, Blitzcrank, and Morganna.

The latest update to TeamFight Tactics, called “Space Gods,” isn’t just adding new characters—it’s bringing a lot of exciting changes to the game. The update includes new visual customizations and gameplay features that highlight the sci-fi theme, like units that can create black holes or use constellations to boost their powers. These changes could significantly impact how the game is played. Replacing the usual carousel is a new feature called Realm of the Gods, which Riot describes as a “celestial marketplace.” This new system will also be a great way to showcase the updated character designs as they appear in the shop and demonstrate their special abilities.

TeamFight Tactics Continues To Experiment With League Of Legends Stand-Bys

I’ve always loved how Riot goes wild with different art styles in both Teamfight Tactics and League of Legends, especially when it comes to skins. It’s cool to see my favorite champions reimagined! While those changes don’t usually shake up the balance too much in League, TFT gets to really play around with things. Each new set feels fresh because they can experiment with both how things look and how you actually play the game.

Noemi Coute, the Set Design Lead, explains that Space Gods blends science fiction and fantasy, and represents the closest teamwork yet between Teamfight Tactics’ art, design, and user experience teams. Building on the popular Galaxies set, the team used everything they’ve learned to create something new and exciting. It’s a unique experience with beautiful artwork and engaging gameplay. This new set introduces 50 new cards and over a dozen champions to the game. The large size of Space Gods is a great sign for TFT in 2026, particularly as it’s the first of three planned sets for the year. Players can start exploring the Space Gods set on April 15th when it officially launches.
