How many spin-off shows is too many? There’s no easy answer, especially for Taylor Sheridan, who seems to believe you should keep creating as long as there’s interest. The Yellowstone universe has become hugely popular, exceeding even his expectations, and it’s set to expand even further in 2026. A record-breaking three new spin-offs are planned for this year: Marshals (previously Y: Marshals), Dutton Ranch, and The Madison.
By the end of the year, there will be an impressive six shows connected to Yellowstone, making it one of the biggest TV franchises ever. And Taylor Sheridan, the creator, isn’t slowing down – two more series, 1944 and 6666, are already in the works. It’s clear he’s very passionate about this world and seems more interested in expanding it than starting new projects. We wouldn’t be surprised if he’d considered tying in his other shows, Landman and Tulsa King, to the Yellowstone story as well.
So, how is 2026 really going to look for the franchise?
Two ‘Yellowstone’ Spin-off Premiere Dates Are Confirmed

Paramount+
The new series Marshals will premiere on CBS on March 1, 2026. It continues the story of Kayce Dutton, a former Navy SEAL and rancher, as he teams up with U.S. Marshals to keep Montana safe. This is the first installment in the Yellowstone universe to air on traditional television. However, the character of Monica will not be returning, which has upset some viewers.
Good news for fans – a new spin-off is coming soon! The Madison will debut on Paramount+ on March 14, 2026, only a couple of weeks after the premiere of Marshals. This new series stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell as the heads of the Clyburn family, who move to southwest Montana’s Madison River valley after experiencing a family tragedy.
I’m really excited for the next installment of the Yellowstone universe, focusing on The Dutton Ranch! While we don’t have a release date yet, it’s confirmed it’ll be coming sometime in 2026. From what I understand, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) are going to be the main focus this time around. The story will center on their fight to hold onto the 7,000-acre ranch and navigate some new family challenges. I can’t wait to see what happens!
How Different Will the Spin-offs Be?

Paramount+
Of all the shows in development, Marshals stands out as something different. It appears to be a modern Western focused on law enforcement, similar to shows like Walker and Justified. This is a welcome change, and it will allow for the introduction of compelling new villains. It’ll be exciting to see criminals brought to justice, and the show also promises a deeper look at the American criminal justice system. Knowing Taylor Sheridan, it’s likely we’ll see a storyline involving ICE that sparks conversation.

Based on what we know, The Madison feels similar to Yellowstone. But because Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell are new to this world, it’s a great entry point for viewers who haven’t seen the other shows. It could have even worked as a standalone series like Landman, though that’s no longer an option. While the show’s overall strategy might be questionable, the actors are perfectly cast. Could Pfeiffer finally win an Emmy for acting within the Yellowstone universe?
The new show, Dutton Ranch, feels like a continuation of Yellowstone, but focusing on popular characters from the original is a smart move that will likely satisfy viewers. While the storyline of another land dispute is somewhat familiar, the series promises to explore the complex relationships and social fabric of Montana in compelling ways.
