2026 Will Give Us Our First Look At The DCU’s Live-Action Batman – Here’s Why I’m Sure Of It

The new DC Universe is already in progress, but we haven’t seen much of Batman yet. As of late 2025, the live-action version of DCU’s Dark Knight hasn’t been fully shown. However, I expect that might change sometime next year.

According to the current DC Universe plans, The Brave and the Bold isn’t due out for a few years. But a movie scheduled for 2026 makes me wonder if we might actually see the live-action version of the DCU’s Batman before we think.

So Far, We’ve Only Seen DCU Batman From A Distance (And Animated)

Batman made a quick appearance in the 2024 series Creature Commandos, showing up at the end of the episode detailing Doctor Phosphorus’s beginnings in Gotham. But viewers only see him as a shadowy figure on a rooftop, highlighted by lightning.

The animated reveal was impressive, but it didn’t offer any hints about who will play Batman in the live-action movie, or what the actor will look like. We only saw the standard cape and cowl, with no unique details or spoken lines.

Batman briefly appeared in a disturbing vision of the future shown by Circe, alongside other heroes. While these glimpses were thrilling, they weren’t a proper introduction to his role in the new DC Universe. They offered hints about what’s to come, but didn’t reveal much detail.

Overall, introducing Batman through Creature Commandos was a clever move that allows DC Studios flexibility. Since they haven’t announced or revealed who will play Batman yet, this approach keeps their options open. This makes 2026 a potentially important year, as that’s when DC might finally reveal their Batman and move beyond just hinting at his appearance.

Clayface Is The Perfect Opportunity To Feature A Similar Batman Cameo In Live-Action

A Clayface movie in 2026, focusing on Matt Hagen’s origin story, could be an ideal way to launch Batman into James Gunn’s DC Universe, as long as it doesn’t steal the spotlight from the villain. A quick Batman appearance at the end could accomplish several goals.

A good approach could be similar to what they did with Creature Commandos in 2024. Batman could make a brief, distant appearance as Clayface’s backstory wraps up – maybe watching from the rooftops. Like with Doctor Phosphorous, this would connect Clayface to Batman’s world for viewers without immediately requiring a Batman actor to be cast.

If DC Studios has already chosen their Batman actor, a surprise cameo at the end of a Clayface-focused scene would be a great way to reveal the casting and get people excited about buying tickets. Regardless, I’m pretty sure we’ll see the new live-action Batman in the DC Universe before the The Brave and the Bold movie.

Clayface is set to be released on September 11, 2026, from DC Studios.
